Repaired water main leak in Sept. The contractor overcharged for the job, proposed an additional $8800 repair that proved not needed, and almost flooded my basement. 1)Overcharge: There is a water main leak under HVAC. Jay estimated it to cost $4500 to repair the leak and I was told it was a one-day job. I agreed. I thought it is a big job for a $4500 job. The next day, only one technician came to do the job. They charge more than $4000 a day (parts cost less than $500). 2)Almost flood basement because of incompetent of technician: The technician replaced a segment of the pipe. But there was a leak at the connection. It needs to reconnect. However, the technician forgot to turn off the main water. Water flooded part of the basement. The technician rushed to turn off the main water that is more than 200 ft away from the house. The damage was limited because the basement area was not finished. 3)Propose an $8800 repair for a problem that does not exist. While the trench was full of water because of the flooding. The technician claimed that there are more leaks somewhere upstream of the repaired location. Jay demanded that I must pay the $4500 because they repaired the leak around HVAC even though the job was still not completed (the trench was not backfilled, water pressure was low) and ask for an additional $8800 to replace main water line. After the technician was left, I scooped out all the water from the trench and absorbed all the remaining water using a sponge. It was a Friday. Over the two days weekend, no more leaks from the upstream pipe, and the trench were dry. I later refilled the trench myself and there was. No more leaks after another month. The Drain Guys propose an $8800 repair for a problem that does not exist. It is either incompetent or fraud. In summary, The contractor charged more than $4000 for one technician for one day, proposed an additional $8800 repair that proved not needed, and almost flooded my basement. I give a 2 start because they did fix the leak around HVAC.
Very good experience
The Drain Guys did a great job installing a tub in my house in Germantown, Maryland. The workmanship is superb and the work was done quickly. I'd recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work.
I hired them to put a p trap and that was 2 weeks ago. The p trap is leaking and they cannot seem to stop it. I place a new cabinet under the sink that is now ruined. They are supposed to come back out for the 5th time to fix it so I will update this if it is fixed. So an update on this: The person who came to fix what they did came back and was unable to fix the problem. The p trap still leaks and now my cabinet is ruined. Called to ask them about it and the person owner said they can come to fix it for an additional $285 which was the original cost. When asked why additional cannot for what they did wrong was told because you left a bad review. In the end, he said take it or leave it just in case you are considering them I say leave it. Not worth the shadiness of a company.
They were certainly all very nice but had to come back three times for leaks in new installation. Didnt do all promised then tried to charge me for work not done.. Very disappointed.
We were having problems with all our drains overflowing. Strangely enough it only happened sometimes so we waited a long time before we brought out any company. After struggling with the problem for months, we finally called out The Drain Guys. Jay from The Drain Guys came out and camera'd our drains. I was immediately impressed by Jay's professionalism and knowledge. After examining the drains, Jay informed us we need to repair a sewer line. I wasn't happy as the problem seemed much larger than I thought. However, Jay assured me they would take care of things and I had nothing to worry about. A plumber for The Drain Guys came out the next day. They had to go through the basement floor to find the drain and fix the problem. After they were done, the drains immediately seemed to flow much better. Overall, I was really happy I picked The Drain Guys. Their pricing was reasonable and they got the job done.
Great company to work with. They helped me decide what water heater to buy and handled purchasing it for me. I feel like they charged me a reasonable price which I can't say for most contractors.
Happy to help Nick!
