I worked with Byron of The Handy Toucan to have my roof replaced. I reached out to him on FB since I wasn't sure if he did work in the Fredericksburg area. Luckily, he was in Spotsylvania when I messaged him and came out that afternoon. Byron was absolutely fantastic. He took the time to explain several issues he saw not only with my roof but with my gutters. He pointed out things that several other roofers who came out did not. He also had samples of the materials he uses, which was cool to see. I really appreciated Byron was super quick to respond whenever I reached out to him with a question, not only at the beginning of the process, but the entire time. He told me that they were scheduling roofs about 2 weeks out and sure enough, 2 weeks after I signed the contract he came out. The day we were scheduled to have the roof replaced there was a possibility for thunderstorms in the afternoon, so Byron let me know we would have to re-schedule. I was worried that it might be another week or more but Byron was able to get me in the following day. Byron and his crew were prompt and very hard working. I chatted with several of the guys who worked with him and they were all very pleasant. They arrived at 7:00 am and worked until about 7:00 pm. Byron personally came out to oversee work on my roof before having to leave for a couple hours for another project. When he returned he joined the crew on the project. I know this may not be the case for each project he does, but it felt great to have the person who came out and explained everything to me be the same person who was completing the job. Byron had to come back the next day to finish a very small section over our awning above our side door. I told him he was welcome to come whenever to finish the work. I have two small kids and our house is very popular with the neighborhood kids who love to play in our backyard. So, I put a note on the door when my kiddos take a nap asking the neighborhood kids not to ring the bell. Well, Byron came by, read the note and texted me that he didn't want to disturb my kids while they were napping. He let me know he was going to run to a coffee shop to work on some proposals and whenever I was ready to let him know so he could finish up. I was shocked at how considerate Byron was, especially since he had to travel pretty far to get to Fredericksburg to complete this job. Byron and his team were awesome. I'd already sent his number to my aunt who is looking to get her roof replaced. I felt like the price for the work was reasonable and that he was going to do a great job for us. I'm glad that I worked with The Handy Toucan and will definitely refer anyone I know who is looking to get work done to him.
