About us
The Roomworks was founded by Joann Eckstut, an award winning designer, author and professional color and materials expert. From a loft in Tribeca to a Greek Revival home in Boston; from the FBI headquarters in Newark, New Jersey to the Smithsonian's Museum of the American Indian in New York City, The Roomworks enjoys all design challenges residential, commercial and institutional. The Roomworks is not about trends. Rather, we practice interior design by asking probing questions to establish the sensibility of each client, analyze the context in which the site exists and then develop a program that refines and innovates. We feel strongly that client feedback is an essential part of the design process. We always remember that our clients will live and work in the spaces in question, while we are only there for a short time during planning and construction. So the design must be a perfect fit for the lifestyle, tastes and budget of each client.
