I needed to have some dirt brought in and graded around the foundation of my house to improve drainage so water wouldnâ t pool near foundation and leak into basement. I contacted Doug and he responded quickly and came out and evaluated the project. He emailed me a detailed estimate. After considering my options, I contacted Doug and arranged for him to perform the work. He and his associate arrived on time and completed the project within the agreed upon timeframe. They had to remove plantings, spread and compact the dirt, grade the dirt so the ground sloped away from the foundation, replace the mulch, place grass seed on the disturbed areas of the lawn, and clean up. They did a good job. There hasnâ t been heavy rains yet to know whether the work that was done will be successful in preventing water seeping into my basement. Only time will tell. I do recommend Doug, the Yardist, for minor grading and resolving projects.

Doug and two of his crew put in an underground drain in our backyard and ran it out to the front yard. Drain was not put at all where we wanted it. He also graded both the both sides of the yard the backyard to control standing water. We were not happy at all when he was finished. He came back one more day and did make a few things a little better. We now have to hire another company to remove his drain, put in a whole new drain and fix his excavation as we still have standing water. Not happy at all.

"The drains all work. I bought a new hose and hooked it up and showed your husband because he had no hose. No hose also means he hadn't watered the yard at all meaning no growth of grass where we seeded. He had us come back and change the berm which we did and fixed all puddling issues. I tried to tell him his idea wouldn't work for the berm and raising the catch basin but we did it to satisfy him. We seeded again at no charge. I went by after I read your review and saw no puddling. You guys do need to maintain the drains and grass growing for everything to work properly. No grass means mud moving over the drains thereby clogging them to where they won't work...Cynthia, I dealt with you in the beginning, then your husband took over overriding everything that we talked about. He never liked or wanted the drains installed. If he had his own ideas he should've done it himself. I refuse to do something I know won't work. I guarantee my work. You called, I came out and fixed the issues..."

Doug came out the very next day in the rain and gave me an estimate on my yard deterioration. He explained exactly what needed to be done, how long it would take as well as the cost. I was abke to explain it to my spouse in detail. I emailed Doug to ask when he could start and he said ASAP. I asked about calling Dig Rite and he said it was already taken care of. A day later my yard was marked and Doug and his crew along with the gas company showed up because we have a gas line thru out easement in the back. He came with his equipment and corrected my deteriorating hill issues, added a swale along with putting down mulch, hay and grass seeds to help. Gave me instructions on watering the area or waiting on it to rain and said in a week or two we would see grass. He guaranteed his work and said if we have any issues he will return and fix the issue free of charge. Doug said it would take 2 days MAX but was done a day and a half. I wor nights so Doug said he wouldnt bother me during the day unless it was necessary. Doug did a great job on our backyard. I would definitely use his service again and refer him to others.

Doug was quick to come out and look at my issue and was able to come back the next day to complete the work. He graded out and area for a patio and added a swale above the area as our yard s on a hill. Will be calling Doug foir future work.

Doug was fantastic at keeping us up to date on the project and notifying us of cost changes or options that would help us with our Landscaping challenge. We have used him on two homes in the past two years. He always does amazing work. 1st house he fixed a water drainage issue and reset our deck post. 2nd home he dug out our poor landscape and brought in new soil and regraded the front yard. Added additional soil to the foundation of our home on one side. He was affordable, timely and very dependable. Work was fantastic!

Doug came out right away to quote my drainage project and landscaping. He seemed knowledgeable about what my yard needed. He was eager to get started and brought appropriate equipment. I am hopeful that his suggestions work. What I am not happy with is the cleanup and final touches. He is not eager to come back and clean up after himself after he received his pay.

Water in downspout piping also runs downhill. Concrete is best cut with a diamond blade saw. Decorative rock is meant to be on top of the dirt rather than buried. Doug had a good personality.

Recommendations were made to fix a drainage issue which I approved to do work. The final product included large unsightly mounds of bare ground and drainage pipes either exposed or even exposed gravel/pebbles meant to be covered. Overall the yard is uneven and hard to mow in areas. At one point silver duct tape was visible on all down spouts. To top it off: my basement has CONTINUED TO FLOOD (which was the main objective of this expensive job) and electricity was cut to one area of my sprinkler system. There was no follow-up but I suspect he knows the job he did was sub-par.
