Mr. Gregory Hellen and his partner (Independent contractor) did not complete our project which included the improper installation of below surface electrical and water supply conduits. My Helen failed to adhere to the commitments made via communications via e-mail, text messages and verbal correspondence. According to Mr. Helen site drawings are only a visual representation and nothing more and any verbal or communicated commitments are not fulfilled; he does not keep his word. Mr. Helen uses the legal process to walk away from your project and fails to provide materials which were contracted for and will lie in court and make false statements. Everything is a change order presented to the customer the day the work is to commence; everything is left to the; and his family members who is not provided the proper site plan. Mr. Helen will rush to get to the job site and then leave the job site leaving multiple items unfinished incorrectly install or missing. We had to go to court but his attorney would not allow us to present receipts and documentation of work that was either not completed or done improperly for which we had to paid a third party contractors to complete. Mr. Helenas testimony was inaccurate in court and contrary to the communications which were not permitted, he even lied in court stating that I called his firm about the project, when in fact I had contacted his partner . Mr. Helen Failed to get HOA approvals; failed to follow code standards, failed to use a scale on site plans and failed to address any issues raised and the "partner and subcontractor are left with an outdated dated drawing and plans and had to take pictures to get approval to complete work which was contracted for and not completed because he did not have the tools. They even failed to provide or install two (2) column caps, (1) mailbox cap, an electrical transformer and associated low voltage wiring. Three Little Birds is a typical white privileged firm they perform no physical work and assign all the work to Latin American â sub-contractors . Be careful Three Little Birds LLC has no workers compensation insurance for his sub-contracts nor do the sub-contractor follow proper OSHA safety requirements, so if a work site accident occurs on your property you will be held liable and your home owners policy will be responsible. He is an experienced con-artist who has his sub-contractors rush to get off the job site to use a contract clause called â substantial completion and never to return; cure notice was provided and Mr. Helen said they were done and presented to the court some itemized invoice and then arbitrarily zero out items that were included in the contract; implying they were not charged for therefore they were not completed. A $64,000 plus interest and legal fees stay away. Scam Artist.
Response from Company:
Dear Mr. Baker. Thank you for your review. As you can see from our other online reviews, we make it a point to be known for customer service and outstanding workmanship. We apologize that your experience with our company did not match your expectations. Since we set such an exceptionally high standard, it is worthwhile to address some of the issues raised in your review. In July of 2022, we built a beautiful 2000 sq ft backyard patio for you at your home in Laurel, Maryland. I worked personally with you on the design and layout features for this project for over five months. During this process, we did our best to accommodate your numerous requests, but I apologize for being unable to help with a few. No, we cannot back-date our insurance certificate to. help you out with an insurance audit problem.? To clarify, it is not that we are un-insured or underinsured (we are 100% properly insured) it is just that I was not willing to alter legal documents for you. We were also unable/unwilling to help when you asked us to take a substantial deposit check, then write a ? payment? from that deposit to some unidentified third party that you owed money. Both of your requests seem unethical if not illegal. From the moment our crew set foot on your property you tried to find ways to reduce the contracted price of the job while simultaneously trying to increase the planned footprint of the patio. For two weeks, you ran from worker to worker, yelling and cursing trying to get us to make the patio larger than planned for free. Not only me and my crew but also the electrical crew and irrigation crew you had on site were subject to this behavior. You became so irate with the electrical crew that they gave up, dropped their tools, and walked off the site. Mr. Baker, you shouted and cursed at every Hispanic worker on your property during the entire project. A white, middle-aged man screaming at the top of his lungs at Spanish workers in his gated community? Then call us a ? white privilege company?? This makes no sense. You are correct. We did have to sue you for non-payment after you chose to not allow us on your property to finish up the few punch list items you are showing in the photos. Trying to use those items to get out of paying for the job almost worked. Thankfully, since we adhered to every specification, local code, and ordinance, and followed every detail in the contract (including the site plans) we were awarded judgment for non-payment/ breach of contract. You are the first customer we have even had to? take to court? and very hopefully the last. The only ? scam? here is a customer who does not want to pay for a beautifully installed job when it is finished.

I called this company back for a second project after they installed a retaining wall and steps 2 years ago. The customer service is outstanding. Responses are prompt and informative, and follow through is fantastic. For comparison, I just worked with another company for other renovations this summer, and they were like a bag of squirrels compared to the ease of working with this company. The project, removing a rotted wood deck and concrete pad and replacing with interlocking pavers, was finished in 1.5 days. It looks gorgeous, it's functional as it took drainage into consideration, and made it look good. I can't recommend then enough.

Greg and 3 Little Birds team are AMAZING! We had a previously non-functional backyard space - they installed a gorgeous two level patio with a firepit and we could not love it anymore than we do! Reasonable pricing, fantastic work. We spend so much time outside now, thank you SLB!

They built a patio with steps coming down from our house. They were a pleasure to work with, accommodating of changes and the work was done expertly and quickly. We couldn't be more pleased with our patio.

All the work was done on time and at the estimated cost. The crew worked their butts off and left the work area cleaner then when they came. Gregg and the team leaders kept us up with all progress and answered all of our questions when they came up. We would definitely hire them for our next project.
