Ken is a very knowledgeable contractor, with the ability to solve problems on the fly and keep the customer "in the loop" along the way. His crew is courteous, hard-working and skilled. The quality of their work is excellent. My only caveat would be that Ken's estimates for our projects were consistently on the low side, and nearly every phase of the job ended up costing significantly more than we planned. Some of this was due to structural issues with our house, but there was also some unrealistic estimating. Bottom line: High-quality work, but not cheap.

I highly recommend Thurgate. They installed my new roof under very adverse conditions. Days of heavy rain snows and winds. Always making sure the roof was sealed up and the yard cleaned up, with all ther equipment neatly put away each day. The materials used were the best you can buy with great attention to detail.

Bathroom Remodel
Ken and his crew Mike and Rob were the best. They renovated our master bath and turned an office into closet. They were clean and made the renovation easy for us. The workmanship is top-notch. They suggested things to make the renovation look even better, especially the tile work in the walk-in shower! It is fabulous. We were very pleased with the daily clean-up, they even took the dog out at lunch! Could not ask for a better experience!

Basement Remodeling
Thorough, very helpful with ideas and planning, willing to work with us and let us complete parts of the job we could. The entire crew was friendly and respectful of our space. The jobs were competed on time and with a minimum of disruption to our home. The final result was even better than we had hoped!

I would recommend Thurgate Building and Remodeling to anyone who is in need for roofing or any other remodeling projects. The work crew was very friendly and courteous and worked through quite some adverse condition. (2 feet of snow on the roof and freezing temperatures) Whenever the weather conditions permitted, they showed up and got our roof done and did a great job. The worksite was always left very clean when they finished for the day. The owner Ken Thurgate was always available for any questions that came up, and was very involved in the daily work.

I called Thurgate Building and Remodelling for stair railings, which in the end I didn't need. Instead I asked about putting in a doorway under my stairwell, to open up storage space. Ken T. gave me a rough estimate immediately, followed up with exact figures and an ETA for the ordered door. His crew came promptly on time to do the work, were very pleasant and very professional, and impeccably neat! The doorway was cut in and new door installed beautifully;they custom made simple molding and a transition threshold to give the look I wanted. Three hours work (less than quoted); excellent value given. Will use again and recommend anytime

Very efficient, professional and accomodating. The final price came in less than the estimate! We wanted to take my Dad home for Thanksgiving dinner. He has been in a nursing home for 3 years. Thurgate built us an indoor handicap ramp that allowed for this to happen. We were thrilled. The ramp can be moved when not in use yet is very sturdy and wide enough without being too steep. Thanks for your help Ken Thurgate. I would call Ken Thurgate first next time, without hesitation, for any job we have.

Basement Remodeling
After some back and forth we settled on services to be performed and a maximum price. After the contract was signed there were some add on extras charged at a time and materials rate. The job was started on time. It took somewhat longer than we had hoped, but the workers showed up when they said they would, and were pleasant to deal with, and worked around some of the furniture that was left in the basement. The workmanship was excellent. The men were experienced and had good ideas to offer as solutions to problems.

Bathroom Remodel
From the beginning to the end of our remodeling project, Thurgate was very attentive to what we sought to accomplish. They made sure that they understood our project and offered good suggestions for it. Thurgate did an excellent job of coordinating the work, including of subcontractor plumbers and an electrician. The work started on schedule and was done before our deadline. The work itself was top notch and Thurgate minimized the disruption the project caused and kept the project area clean. We thought so highly of the work done on our basement renovation that we hired them to do other work. It was a pleasure working with Thurgate.
