Jon designed and installed the most beautiful landscape in my front yard. Since then, not a week goes by that I don’t receive a steady stream of compliments from neighbors, passersby, etc. He was professional and worked with my aesthetic. With an extensive knowledge of plants he was able to help me to choose the most suitable, durable and attractive specimens for my space. Large boulders, gravel, stones and an attractive modern fence were carefully chosen. I couldn’t be happier. Patience on Jon’s end played a big part in helping me to narrow down my choices. Anyone who has lived through a remodel or landscape project knows that it can be a messy disruption! But Jon & crew made it seamless and cleaned up meticulously after each day of work. Recently I re-hired Jon to build a fence between my neighbor’s yard and mine. Once again, his advice improved on my initial vision. He also replaced a shrub with a colorful zone appropriate small tree. Between these two projects I feel that my yard is absolutely complete and perfect! I highly recommend Timberwood!

We reached out to Timberwood after having a landscape design developed by another firm. We liked the design and designer from the other company but didn't have a great experience with the company when it came time to move forward with the plans. When the owner, Jon Bolin, met with us, he pointed out some areas of the original design that wouldn't meet our goals of low maintenance and also some aspects that were unnecessarily increasing the cost of the project. He suggested some modifications that we really liked, and we moved forward with having him update the design and submit a quote. He gave us a price break on the design updates since we had already paid the other company for a design. His price was competitive with the estimates we had from the previous company. Jon's crew completed the entire installation in 4 weeks. Roberto and Angel were at the property nearly every day during this time and we were very happy with the work they did. They worked hard and were very polite whenever they needed anything from us. Some days, a larger crew came out, such as when the concrete was poured. This included oversight by Marty, who was also great to work with. Jon was on site several days each week to make sure things were going well, talk us through anything that had come up, and answer any questions we had. He was quick to identify and address anything that needed to be adjusted, such as moving a drip line to allow for AC installation we have coming up. We are very happy with the end result and have gotten many compliments on our new yard. Jon and the entire Timberwood crew were easy to work with. Jon communicated well throughout the process and once installation was done, came out the following week to talk us through maintenance and see how everything was looking. He has promised to come out again in 3 weeks to adjust the irrigation schedule once the plants are established. We definitely recommend Timberwood and will happily use them in the future if we need any additional work done.

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this was an important one to leave and warn everyone about Timberwood. BUYER BEWARE! I am in need of a major landscaping project at my Scripps Ranch home, both front and back. My current landscape is not too bad but we want a lot of plants removed and a drought friendly new design installed. We also need new irrigation. After reading reviews on Yelp and Angi LIst, I gave John (owner) a call from Timberwood. We scheduled an initial consultation at the house, but unfortunately, I was just getting over Covid and John felt uncomfortable and wanted to reschedule for Monday in the morning. Totally get it, no big deal. I decided to work from home to make sure I was there to walk John around the yard. We discussed our design ideas and he gave some feedback. He sounded very interested in the project and could make my yard beautiful. He said, "I will go back to the office and call you with a ballpark figure of how much this will cost". Great! One week goes by...crickets...two weeks go by...crickets...one month...still no call or text from John. I give him a call twice and leave a message...no response! If John and Timberwood didn't want this project, just be honest and tell me! Instead, you decide to just not call or follow up? If John provides this little service now before a project, imagine how bad it will be once they start. I have heard that contractors can be flakey, but this is ridiculous. It was a complete waste of time and effort meeting John at the house. There are a lot of great landscapers in San Diego to choose from...ones that will call you back and actually be honest about your project. Just wanted to share my experience, hope this helps.

We hired Timberwood Landscape to design our front yard after having issues with flooding and poor grading. The end product is gorgeous and thankfully we no longer have any issues with water. We have received compliments from several neighbors and even got a call from the HOA complimenting the beautiful work. We called Timberwood again when it was time to landscape our backyard. Jonathan is extremely knowledgable with regards to what will work best in specific areas and introduced us to lower water options that worked in creating a beautifully backyard for our family to enjoy. I would highly recommend Timberwood and Jonathan with his great crew and professionalism.

Jon's architecture/engineering skills combined with his design aesthetic resulted in a beautiful backyard that met our budget and fit our lifestyle. When we purchased our home, the backyard was neglected and had a challenging topography (read: we hated it). Jon took all our wishes and needs into consideration, and created a backyard experience that is both practical and gorgeous to look at. We now have a great living and dining space, and a yard for our young children, all surrounded by a backdrop of low-maintenance but visually appealing plants. It looks fantastic during the day and inviting at night with cleverly placed accent lighting. Our backyard was a dump and now we treasure it every day. We shopped around and can confidently state Jon is extremely reasonable about what he charges for his services. Honestly, the most satisfying home improvement project we've ever undertaken.

For my wife and I, every aspect of working with Jonathan at Timberwood was totally excellent; from our first meeting, to his design, to the final installation. He first found out what we wanted, and then created a design that fulfilled our expectations -- but -- he went far beyond that by adding his own input and creative viewpoints. The end result was more beautiful and satisfying than we could have imagined. He welcomed (no, he asked for) our questions, gave well thought out and sensible answers, and was very patient in interacting with us. We feel there are two necessary and important components when dealing with designers and/or contractors: first is the quality of their work, and their ability to deliver the promised outcome; the second is the personal connection we develop with them as the project moves forward. We give Jonathan high marks in both those components. We would work with him again in a heartbeat.

While there are many landscaping companies to choose from, we were extremely pleased that we chose Jonathan, the proprietor of Timberwood! He not only provided a beautiful design, he was also diligent about all aspects of the process and details that determine the visual quality of the results. The experienced crew did detailed, quality work that included rebuilding a retaining wall ,installing an additional stucco wall, an irrigation system, and creating a sidewalk and steps that truly give our home curb appeal. Jonathan at Timberwood was the best. He and his crew were on time at the set time each day. They made sure my newly planted landscape was taking (growing) weeks after the job which included sprinkler adjustments periodically after job completion. We bought an existing home in Bonita, whose backyard had been neglected and quite frankly not only looked bad but the grading was terrible and drainage was virtually non-existent. Timberwood Landscaping just finished our backyard remodeling project and we could not be happier with the results. I interviewed 8 different Landscaping companies for the project. Timberwood was head and shoulders above the rest starting from the initial visit. Their proposal pricing was also very competitive. Our detailed project involved about 925 sq feet of lawn and 700 sq feet of concrete patio. It included removal of the existing shoddy lawn; installation of proper grading and drainage; irrigation system for lawn and plants; new lawn; new plant palette; removal of the existing cracked/worn/poorly graded concrete patio and replaced it with a new colored concrete patio in a deco store diamond pattern and a sidewalk . There was a new sitting wall installed and 4 column stucco bases around the patio columns to match the house and sitting wall. The existing worn gray colored planting walls were also painted to match our house. In all, there was about 925 sq ft of lawn and 700 sq feet of finished patio. Including the Planter areas. It was a comprehensive project. Timberwoods owner, Jonathan Bolin and his crew simply did a fabulous job. Jonathan and his Team's attention to detail was just great. He is a combination of an Engineer, Landscaper and Artist. He provided the most detailed exacting proposal of any of the landscapers in a timely fashion. The proposal detailed the work to be done. There were no surprises and the project was finished exactly within the time frame quoted. After working with us to see what our vision for the backyard look was, he provided a detailed CAD diagram of the proposed backyard for our approval. We made no changes, it was exactly what we envisioned. His attention to detail also included grouping plants not only for pleasing aesthetics but also by sun and water requirements with an eye towards low ongoing maintenance. We were kept in the loop every step of the way and always knew what the next step was going to be. We felt that Jonathan and his crew worked as if they were working on their own house. That was the level of caring. In today's cut-corners world, it is a real pleasure to observe skilled professionals who know and do their jobs extremely well. Kudos to Jonathan, Marty, Roberto, Sal and Angel as well as the other specialists Jonathan brought in as needed. Thank You for making our backyard vision a reality without breaking the bank. In summary, I would highly recommend Timberwood and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Workers came on time every day and project was completed in estimated timelines. Quality was great. I'm very happy with our back yard!

The thing that stood out is, we got 3-4 bids, John is much more passionate than anyone else. He wanted to create designs and stretch our imaginations. He gave ideas on other projects as well.

We have had him do several projects over the years. He is excellent. He is very thorough. he is nice and easy to work with. Anyone that he has come to help is excellent and he oversees them as well.
