Clear a Clogged or Slow Drain

I chose Top Rate Plumbing based on the reviews and I was happy I made the right choice! On June 16, 2023 I contacted them and on same day , Luis the Field Manager came out to my residence to clear the shower drain. Luis was charismatic, professional and informative. I actually learned a thing or two with him. I hope to use his service again but not anytime soon! I don’t want a reoccurring problem. However, the good thing is he guarantees his work for a year. Thank you Luis for your service, it was nice meeting you!

Hire a Handyman

My toddler flushed a toy down the toilet which caused a huge leak and Samrouy Delgado was highly responsive, professional, neat, and did a wonderful job for a good rate. I would highly recommend this company!

Install or Repair a Toilet

I called Top Rate Plumbing when my toilet clogged over a weekend. My 2 year old flushed a toy down my toilet and the water began to leak all over the floor. It was on a Saturday and I was terrified of how much a plumber over the weekend would cost, but I had no choice. I called a few places, but Top Rate were the only ones to give me directions to turn off the valve until they arrived. I had a good feeling about them from the beginning. The plumber arrived in a timely manner, he got to work immediately and was able to get the toy out with a snake. It wasn't easy, he had to remove the toilet, but he got the job done. When he was finished he cleaned up his work area and didn't leave my bathroom a mess. I really appreciated that! More importantly, their price was extremely reasonable given it was on a Saturday and what he had to do to get the toy out. He also gave us some tips on how to seal our toilet back to the floor ourselves. I truly hope never to have another plumbing issue again, but if I do, Top Rate Plumbing will be my go to from now on.

In April I was in the process of selling my home. I had failed inspection due to Polybutylene piping. I had gotten different quotes for the job and I decided to go with Top Rate Plumbing. They did an excellent job, and finished in time to meet deadline. I have recommended them to family and friends, and i will definitely use them in the future.

We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. If you have concerns that a pro in our network doesn't meet these standards, please contact us to investigate. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
