This was project was a nightmare. We started in July with the time frame given to us of three weeks. They sold us on the fact that they had all their own plumbers, electricians, etc.. We wouldn't be held up waiting for individuals to show up. No electricians, plumbers, tile, etc...ever came until the job became a mess. They sent one guy with his son (20 year old son) to do the entire job. They were not licensed but were very nice. They did what they could but the job was too big. The tile was a mess. They had to come back and re-grout, reset tile, then send an electrician and plumber because those jobs were done wrong. Our basement was a mess under the floor of the bathroom. All the scrap that fell from above was never cleaned. The grout is all cracked now a year later. Still looking for final payment after all the time (over 6 months to complete). Never would I deal with this company.

Do not hire. Poor workmanship, customer service, etc. Work is not done according to your expectations. Projects not completed on time. Excuses for every issue. Poor attention to detail. Damage to your home not fixed accordingly. Holes in outer walls, other floors damaged and wrong items ordered. Nightmare...disaster...could have done better my self if I had time to do it. Tiles not cut properly and fixtures uneven out of balance.

I hired them to redo my bathroom. I was dissatisfied with the work that took place, they offered to come back and correct the job. I am now happy with my bathroom.

Terrible experience. Sales accommodating our requests was excellent. Project execution was very poor. Our project involved adding a dormer, new roof, residing the rear of the house, new gutters and leaders, electrical work and updating fire alarm system to code requirements. Project duration was estimated @ 3 to 4 weeks, We are now in week 11 and not quite sure when completion will be. Scheduling has been nearly non existent. The quality of the various subcontractors utilized varied widely. Accounting lost track of our payments... No, we do not recommend Total.

    Response from Company:

Our client has valid comments & we agree the timing didn't go as planned. Although comments about timeframe aren't completely accurate. The client requested a very specific custom window for this addition; which couldn't be processed until openings were framed. From then the manufacturer had a 6 week lead time to deliver. The windows were delivered with wrong grid configuration. The re-order added to completion time; as did the weather. The client also added electrical & siding & progress was held while the client stained the siding. Added work orders indicate satisfaction at the time. We apologize for any delay, that was our responsibility.

The finish date was to be 11/13/12,,and as of to day the job up to a 12 x 24 shell with sideing that has to be removed due to the fact that they used the wrong material for the walls. the town inspectors hate them due to their shotty work. i would not them build a tent if it was up to me

    Response from Company:

This project is not complete. This was not a standard permit application; a zoning variance was required by the town & took many months. The architects drawing was reviewed & authorized by the homeowner & town prior to construction. The structure is built precisely as specified with everybodys approval. Only after the siding was complete did the town add a additional component to the sheathing. The siding is correct as is; all the work.inspected & approved. This is an afterthought by the town & requires an addendum from the architect before any rework is to be done.

Hired for basement renovation that was supposed to be a one week project and ended up four months. After completion while prepping for painting found all of the electrical sockets installed were free floating and not secured down with screws so when you try to plug something in the socket just moves backwards. Was also shocked by one of the outlets. Recessed light covers were spackled to ceiling. Windows/Ceiling not taped to prevent cracking and gaps. Molding not installed correctly. All we wanted was someone to contact us and fix the problems but it never happened. A shame it came to.

Project was flawless. Peter McPhee was the best PM I've ever worked with. Never missed a beat. Amazingly professional and always available.

I am editing my previous review as it is the only way to get anyones attention. My PM, Peter, did a good job. The final result was good, even after we found out there was a leak which ran into the downstairs bathroom and into my basement. Issue was rectified by Peter. I am now waiting for a reimbursement for the damages caused by the leak and was told it was being held by management due to my poor review. If anyone is reading this, would you side with a company who is holding their customers reimbursement because of a poor review? If this is ever addressed, I am happy to provide a better rating but this is feedback worth considering.

    Response from Company:

As with any home renovation, unforeseen issues may arise. Problems, such as faulty electrical wires, plumbing issues, etc. are not initially seen before a job is started. When issues are found, it's our priority to rectify the problem to make your home safe,up to town code & finish in a timely manner. Unfortunately, not every job is as smooth of a process as we hope, but we're adamant on creating a positive customer experience. We thank you for your relationship with our company, although your experience wasnt as we initially strived for,we are confident the workmanship is safe & it's a beautiful bath to be enjoyed for years to come.

The project has been completed and Total Renovations far exceeded our expectations. Zane, our project manager, went above and beyond to make sure we are happy with the work, delivered phenomenal results and made sure that we will have the smoothest customer experience possible during the project. Awesome work, great results, worth every penny !!
