Total Roofing

Our house came under contract and after the home inspection we needed to repair a part of the roof. Scott responded quickly and was very courteous and professional. He completed the repair on the same day and then inspected the roof. In the end he re-certified the roof for 5 years! I would highly recommend Total Roofing to anyone who needs work done on their roof.

I contracted Total Roofing in August to replace my roof. When the PM (Nate) came to the house to do his inspection/estimate, I was very clear with him about a problem area we had in the front of the garage where I had a long-term leak. I explained the nature of the problem and suggested that not only does the roof need replacing but that he would most likely need to replace some roof sheathing and fascia boards and Nate annotated his estimate accordingly. During his inspection, Nate did go up on the roof but at no time did he ever go into the attic to have a closer look at the garage leak I asked him to pay close attention to. The roofing job done by Total Roofing was not good. They did not follow my instructions of putting a metal valley in place where two roof sections came together. Instead, they doubled-up the water barrier/ice shield, saying that was good enough(violating the recommended installation procedures of the roof shingle manufacturer. They also did not replace any roof sheathing or facia boards, even though the cost of several replacement sheathing panels was added to the estimate that I later paid for. When the next rainstorm came, my water leak in the garage reappeared. I called Total Roofing to come out to the house to inspect and tell me what's wrong. They repaired the roof using a liberal dose of silicone sealant all over the place. It was a messy repair and looked awful, hardly what I was expecting after having paid Total Roofing $14k. A couple of days later we had another rainstorm and my leak reappeared. Calling Total Roofing back out the house a third time, it was their position that the roof was sound and that the rock wall was most likely allowing water to infiltrate into the garage. I agreed that the rock wall had problems and I contracted a mason to rebuild the rock wall on the front of the garage. The mason went above and beyond and built a leak-proof wall. Unfortunately, when the next rainstorm came, my water leak in the garage reappeared. I called Total Roofing out to the house again and they scheduled another roof repair, which was completed several days later. But as before, no roof sheathing or facia boards were replaced. Although the repair looked good, the next rainstorm showed that the repair failed as my water leak reappeared. Total Roofing's solution was for me to call another of their contractors to have the roof looked at again. I had enough of Total Roofing's incompetence and contracted with another roofing company to evaluate my roof leak over the garage. The new contractor was thorough with his inspection and spent considerable time evaluating my roof leak. His estimate also showed numerous faults with the previous roof install due to shortcuts and poor installation practices used by Total Roofing. The new contractor spent two days repairing my roof over the garage, including correcting issues with the installation done by Total Roofing. I submitted an estimation request from 3 different companies. Not only was Total roofing the only one to respond to me, Lee called be within an hour! very impressive. Lee took the time to explain all of my options and worked with me to ensure I was getting what I needed. I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience, in fact I also had them replace my rain gutters as I knew the job would be done right. Thanks Lee and Total Roofing!
