Business Overview

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because Electrical work is very challenging and rewarding. I love construction and was drawn towards electrical construction. I have two brothers and all three of us are contractors. Building and the trades are in our blood. I went to college with an interest in electrical and graduated from Santa Ana College with an AS degree in electrical theory and electronics technology. I then went through the IBEW electrical apprenticeship five year program and graduated with the apprentice of the year award. I worked in the union for many years doing my own work on the side. Eventually, I began working for myself full time. I got my contractor's license and began my own company. I really enjoy the work I do. I like working on a wide variety of projects and keeping up with the latest changes in the industry. I really enjoy doing different things, working with my hands and my mind is challenged every day..

We started in this industry in 1998.

Hire at your own risk. This is the good the bad and the ugly. The good is Triplex showed up everyday for work on time and always worked a full day. The bad is Triplex attitude...disparaging remarks about our property in our presence (if the property was up to par, we wouldn't need him), arguing with city inspectors, arguing with other potential contractors we didn't hire, and doesn't work well with other contractors. The ugly - the demoralizing, humiliating manner in which he spoke to his apprentice. Even at 1/5th the price we paid, it wouldn't be worth enduring the bad behavior. We eventually hired another electrician to do the finish work.

I had an excellent experience with Triplex Electric. The project was to upgrade all electrical outlets to meet current code and replace, where possible, all lighting with LED to maximize energy efficiency. Despite several quirks in our older house, Randy and his crew successfully accomplished everything required. Although I probably could have saved some money on labor costs by going out and buying the materials myself, it was worth every penny to have them do everything from A-Z. I definitely recommend Triplex Electric and would use them again as projects arise for a future renovation.

Randy (and his assistant) did a great job installing a bathroom ceiling fan in a very difficult location. He offered several ideas on how the switches could be configured. He worked late into the evening to ensure the job was completed same day and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. The final cost was as quoted, and I would not hesitate in hiring him again.

Randy was very patient teaching this electrical dummy (me) why what I was asking him to do really wasn't the best approach to solve my problem. He spent a great deal of time, talking me out my plan and coming up with proposals that would make more electrical and pragmatic sense...thus talking himself of a big pay day for him, at my expense. His ideas saved me a great deal of money and inconvenience. A trustworthy guy....

Randy, the contractor, was completely accessible and polite. He came right over and, although the job was complicated, he went thru the steps to be thorough and professional. He answers his phone ... and is extremely personable. He has lots of references due to experience - and I would use him again. He is reasonable $ as well. If you want a nice, well qualified person who is honest - Triplex Electric is for you.

Randy return my call promptly, we made an appointment to meet, reviewed the panel upgrade project. He submitted a proposal for work to be accomplished within a few days. Pricing was fair, not the cheapest but no most expensive. Randy was the only contractor that met SCE to review all SCE mandated changes - that set him apart from all other bidders. Work was done in 2 days, I'm a happy customer. Will have Randy do more work when kitchen remodel is underway. .
