After meeting with many other contractors, I hired Jason to build a concrete patio, cedar planters, and a privacy panel this year. My experience was a very positive one. Working with Jason was easy as his professionalism and knowledge were evident. He understood my vision and had some great suggestions. I'm very happy with the end result and I would hire Jason and his team again.

TruCraft construction recently completed a new composite deck and pergola's (over deck and separate one over hot tub). Jason was the second contractor we talked to and we hired him on the spot......his knowledge and professionalism was obviously from the start. The deck turned about better than we could have imagined with wonderful attention to detail and high end materials. We have had MANY wonderful compliments from friends and neighbors and know TruCraft will be utilized by others in the future. Jason's team was wonderful to deal with....very patient and communicative. Thanks for the beautiful deck!!!

Our initial impression was good. Jason spoke of the importance of submitting drawings to obtain a construction permit. after a neighbor complained to the county, we discovered Jason never submitted drawings for permit. The deck was nearly 50% complete at that point. He could not find the time to submit the drawings so i was forced to do so myself. Fortunately the County was great to work with. We were also fortunate that the inspector was willing to accept the work completed to date. It could have been a huge disaster as he could have forced us to tear down all the work completed thus far. Moving forward, Jason chose not to complete this project in accordance with the drawings he provided and were approved for permit. His rationale was, he built the stairs to match the original. His claim is he was hired to match the original deck. The only part, as discussed with him, to match the original was the footprint. the deck materials changed from wood to composite. The railing style changed from face mounted vertical wood to top mounted steel posts and horizontal cables. We even provided installation sheets from the manufacturer to illustrate the product we wanted to be installed. The area below the deck was now fully enclosed and waterproofed It was necessary to hire a second contractor to tear out the stairs and build them according to the permit drawings. That cost me thousands of additional dollars. While the work that was completed by this contractor looks good, his team missed their schedule by months. Piles of debris from the old deck sat for weeks in the back yard. I had to reseed areas of the lawn where the grass died. The roll-off sat for weeks in the driveway leading to complaints from our HOA. His solution for the railing on this deck was not to follow the images from the manufacturer's website or the drawings that were submitted for permit, but to instead mix and match railing types. His rationale was, "this is quite commonly done" We found zero examples of his approach. If you choose to work with this company, get EVERYTHING in writing. Get the schedule in writing. Get complete drawings to sign and approve BEFORE construction starts. Get a written commitment that drawings will be submitted and approved for permit PRIOR to start of construction. Get a written commitment to follow the manufacturer's installation in writing. Get a commitment on how long demolition will take and when materials will be removed from the property. Get a written commitment that any damaged landscaping will be replaced. Take photos of existing conditions BEFORE construction starts to be certain you have a record of plants and their condition. Establish penalties for missing any of these written commitments. Hold a percentage of the final payment until you are completely satisfied and everything has been completed and signed off by the building department.

We had several bids and talked with contractors about adding an elevated three-season, enclosed room to our home. We chose TruCraft Contracting because Jason Russo, the owner, was knowledgeable, detail oriented, and fairly priced in his bid, all qualities we felt were important in a project of this size. We have a walk-out basement, and we wanted the room to be accessible from the first floor (not the basement). The deck/porch is 28' x 15,' so the room had to be engineered and structured for weight and safety. I showed Jason a picture of exactly how I wanted the interior and exterior to look, and Jason assured us he could replicate the picture for our deck/porch. Jason, employs a project foreman/builder, AJ, who is an incredible master craftsman. AJ directed and assisted in building every part of our porch. It is a gabled roof/ceiling with large windows surrounding the room and triangular windows at the top. The ceiling is stained tongue-in-groove, and the flooring is TimberTech. The interior has wainscotting and an exterior-grade french door. Additionally, there is an outside staircase composed of the TimberTech decking and Fortress railing with embedded stair lights. We ask Jason to extend our concrete patio to flow seamlessly with the bottom of the stairs. All of the construction and installation I've mentioned were completed entirely by AJ and his crew. Jason came daily to check and talk with AJ to make sure everything was aligned with the plans. Although, compliments of Covid, it took more time to construct and finish this project than had been estimated, the wait was well worth it. The room is absolutely stunning, and we are enjoying our new living space immensely. I highly recommend TruCraft Construction for your consideration of any remodel or additions you may be comtemplating.

Did not build the deck per the approved drawings. Also, staircase was not built to code (railings too low and not continuous). Did not call for power line location, hit a power line to the house killing power while we were on vacation. We lost all products in our freezer and had to have the line replaced by Excel Energy. Did not complete the project due to too many problems! According to documents they provided me in the beginning, they did not have a valid insurance. I called their insurance after this happened and they told me they dropped the insurance a month before our project started.

We hired Jason and TruCraft Contracting to replace our traditional wood deck with TimberTech composite, including an under decking drainage system, new stairs, railings, and a patio roof. The crew was extremely professional and the level of care they put into the quality of the work was as if they were building their personal deck. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend TruCraft Contracting to anyone looking for Deck contracting.

We just recently completed a deck on a new build home with Jason and TruCraft Contracting. We started the process with Jason in the spring and at the time only had a very basic idea of what we were looking to have done. Jason met with us initially and listened to our small list of requirements and then began asking us many questions in regards to materials, dimensions, etc. Once we had a better idea of the basics Jason began to provide suggestions on the design and provided several ideas that we hadn't even considered. Some of the ideas we incorporated, some we didn't but the suggestions led to a final product that has several details which we love and couldn't imagine not having now that they are in place. Jason's suggestions on materials were spot on and we love the finished product. We went with a Timbertech deck and Trex handrails, balusters, and posts. Once we had the design finalized Jason provided us an estimated timeline and also provided our agreement complete with a detailed invoice outlining when payments were due and how much each of those payments were. As the deck was being built my wife and I decided to add on a few additional items. Lights and other small changes. Jason was open to the changes and completed them without issue and without delay. Other than these changes Jason kept to the agreed upon pricing. No surprises. The team Jason sent over was very clean and friendly and I can't imagine a team providing a better result. We are very happy with our choice to use TruCraft Contracting.

Solid work. Jason took the time to find out what we wanted and gave a competitive estimate to tear down and rebuild my back deck. The Trucraft crew rebuilt and expanded the current deck with a solid and beautiful result. They added options to upgrade the support columns, metal railings and a water drainage system. I would recommend their work.

They claimed they did not break a vase however I think they did. The Vase was fine when I left the house and in the picture you can see its broken.

"When we finished the deck (6 months ago) I showed the client a picture taken of the broken vase from before we moved it. That was the last that it was mentioned until this review 6 months later?!?"

Jason and his team did a great job! They worked hard and paid a lot of attention to detail. They were respectful of our home and children. I felt comfortable with them in our house. Jason came out in his free time after the project was finished to fix a few things that weren't quite right, which was a huge help. Highly recommend him and his crew for any home projects needed.

Jason was wonderful to work with on this project! I am a part-time stay at home mom and it is not always comfortable having contractors in the house. Jason was easy to work with and I never felt intimidated or uncomfortable with him working in our home. He was also very committed to making sure our windows looked exactly how we wanted, and had great ideas to finish them in a way that matched our style. I will definitely be calling him for our next home project!

The following details are my opinion of Jason's and Trucraft's work quality and work ethic based on 5 months of working with him. Jason is a nice guy but was clearly in well over his head on many levels. We engaged Jason (Trucraft) for a very large and difficult project. It was a deck rebuild on our home that covered 2 stories and about 2,000 sf of deck. It was contracted as 2 phases. Phase 1 was a contract and Phase 2 was hourly. Phase 1 was scheduled to be completed by October 4th. As of January 30th, they are still not complete and have walked off the job. He is now demanding payment for work that was previously paid for, he has billed us for time to fix issues that his crew improperly installed (double charging), and is claiming that having the work completed to code was not part of the agreement. Although we have offered to find a fair resolution and move on, he declined and is now threatening to file a lien. The major challenges we ran into were: 1. The crew he had placed on our job, by his own admission, had never built a deck before. The finished products reflect that. 2. He spent almost no time whatsoever managing the work crew or communicating the details of the project. 3. Our contract clearly stated that their work was to be completed to county code. As of today's inspection, their work did not meet code. 4. The quality of work was mediocre at best, and there was no pride in workmanship whatsoever; Jason just did not seem to care. 5. When we brought quality issues up, he would 'kick the can down the street' and say we'd get that resolved before they wrapped up. 6. His final comment to me via text was: 'there are no quality guarantees on hourly work'. There are many additional details, but in summary, my experience was that: Project management skills: below average Attention to detail and workmanship: below average Abilities to execute a large project: below average Ability to properly estimate a job: below average
Response from Trucraft Contracting, LLC
"The comments above are almost all false. Mark took on this project himself and acted as his own General Contractor. He told me that they had a limited budget for the project, so I provided a subcontracted crew that I had worked with in the past at a highly discounted rate. Mark acted as his own general contractor/designer/architect/engineer/purchaser on the project. Making sure everything passes inspection is the job of the designer & project manager. We were only the subcontracted labor. He mentioned details that were in the contract; but there was no contract, only a verbal agreement on the cost of the labor we were to provide. After the project and entire punch list were completed and the final amount was paid, Mark needed some additional work done (railings, stairs, etc.) so we agreed on an hourly rate. After a few weeks of work, we discontinued work due to non-payment. The negative comments/review only came after we sent the notice to put a lien on the property. If our work was subpar, why would he continue to use us for 5 months? He claims that my project management skills, ability to execute a large project, ability to estimate, etc were "below average", but this wasn't my project! The homeowner took on a project himself that he wasn?t qualified to manage. His project went over on his timeline and budget and now wants to blame the hired labor."

Jason did an AMAZING job building a portico addition on our home. The purpose of the project was just to protect our front door from south facing elements but after it was built we realized it also added a tremendous amount of curb appeal and serves as a safe place for mail packages to be hidden behind. Jason responded timely to my original inquiry for the job. At our first meeting he provided me with a bid and drawing I could submit to our HOA. Jason is a man of his word and delivered on everything! The finished portico looks exactly like the drawing and the quote was spot on (no surprise extra costs)!!! I appreciated his frequented texts to communicate when he/his crew would be working on the house and they stayed true to those times. If they had to make a supply run, they would let us know and never abandoned the job. The best part of the entire experience was the pride in the labor craftsmanship that was put into the portico. He was knowledgeable about the materials to use and was able to offer recommendations which added value to the project. The work was carried out as if it was being done on one of their own homes. They took the time to ensure the work was done correctly with very little (if any) waste. The portico looks as if it has always been part of the house structure. All of our neighbors are jealous and stop to admire it all the time. We look forward to hiring Jason and his crew again and would highly recommend him for a portico or any other project you have. Their overall level of professionalism is hard to find.

I do not recommend this company I hired them to rebuild my deck. 1st they don't deliver what they say. But they don't have to their contract says nothing is binding verbally. So they can promise you things and not have to do them. One thing the owner Jason said is I don't build bad decks wow is he wrong. They cut the boards crooked he did try to fix it but there are still bad ones. Said the saw was wrong. Cut every pole cover crooked said the saw was wrong. Ok but if you cut one and it is crooked wouldn't you stop oh no they ruined every one of them.I thought he was a pro that he was over seeing the project Said it would take 2 weeks started Sept 4th. By the end of October still was not done. Put in a drainage on the deck it leaks all over. A lot of their errors is due to carelessness nails coming trough the trek material. Slips with the drill. They got a white material dripped all over my cement patio that will not come off I wonder if they ever heard of a drop cloth. Beware of his contract my deck was 22,000 paid half to start a third 50 percent done and the rest BEFORE he is finished. I wished I would have read it better that is my fault. So I have several things left undone. Then he tried to add 1200.00 to the bill for more materials. And another 1200.00 for the ceiling that I already paid for. When you have a contract on a job I thought that is what it should cost. He tried to get it up two 25515.00 I had many estimates none that high I would have never hired him and now wished that I didn't.

Only dealt w/ owner/operator, who refinished our deck w/ composite & railing, but miscommunication occurred regarding substructure which needed replacing and wasn’t. When outcome was very noticeably unacceptable, we were told we could get someone “to jack up the deck from underneath”?! Subsequent to being informed of our upcoming review, offers to fix (in his own words— loose board, uneven decking, loose railing) by deconstructing all that was completed, for additional $, with company we’d by now lost confidence in. Well, a $7500+ lesson learned. Will have to begin again in a few years when we’ve saved up.
Response from Trucraft Contracting, LLC
"The customer hired us to replace the decking surface. After we removed the existing decking, we saw that the original substructure was poorly built and rotting. The deck frame was sagging and wasn't level enough. Before moving on, we discussed replacing the necessary structure with the homeowner; but they declined. After the deck material was installed and finished, they were very unhappy with finished product due to some sagging and other issues related to the deck frame. I wish we could have been allowed to finish the project the way that would have been necessary for everybody to be satisfied."
