I have been looking for someone to do these floors for years until a friend recommended Stan. He understood exactly what I wanted, and I could not be happier. The customer service, quality, and value were all beyond my expectations. I would use Stan and his crew again without hesitation.

I am totally dissatisfied with the job done for me by Stan Frye of Tuscan Decorative Stone Inc. I needed to have my basement concrete floors refinished, sealed, and colored using an acid etching method. I also needed to have the joints between the floor and the basement walls repaired. The original time estimate for the entire job was 5 work days. It turned out to be over two weeks. The cost estimate was exceeded by $300 due to the fact that he had rented the wrong equipment in the first attempt and had to take it back and rent different tools. He used my brooms, scraper, and shop vacuum. The finished product was terrible. When my household contractor saw the finished floors, he remarked that it looked like I had a bunch of untrained teenagers doing the work. The entire house was filled with concrete dust from the grinding that he did. I cleaned all of the upstairs areas myself but expected him to at least wipe down the walls and floors in the basement after he was done, but he didnt does any cleanup of any kind. My wife and I had to spend a full day cleaning up the mess that he left in my basement after he was done. If it were not for the fact that I still had other work that must get done in my basement to finish the repairs from hurricane Florence, I would not have paid him the final payment and would have sued him for the deposits I had already given him. However, I would have had to leave everything the way it was when he finished in order to do that and I simply had to get my regular contractor into the basement to finish the rest of the work. The finished product looks terrible and looks nothing whatsoever like the many photos of his previous work that he showed me as examples of what I could expect my finished floors to look like. I would never recommend Stan Frye or his company, Tuscan Decorative Stone, to anyone who is having concrete work done at their home. The man doesn't even have his own tools and equipment, his time and cost estimates are not accurate, and I found him to be unreliable and bordering on being dishonest.
Response by Tuscan Decorative Stone, Inc.: I am sorry Mr. H.was not happy. The actual time it took on the job was actually nine days, due to the fact that I did not work the weekends and the one weekend I had to caretake for my mother 5 hours away, and he knew that. I also had to work around his schedule due to his helping his daughter move. He failed to mention about water intrusion onto the floor through his basement walls which also caused delays because it had to be dried out. There was a lot of glue on his floor and the first equipment would not remove it so I had to rent an additional machine to remove VCT tile, this problem was unforeseen. I had my own shop vac but he offered his, because it was a long distance from my truck to his house. When Mr. H. gave me the final payment he did not mention that any additional cleanup needed to be done. If there was, we certainly would have done it. He failed to mention that he did not have sufficient power downstairs needed to run the machine to take up the glue. I. had to drive to Wilmington which was almost a day to get the machine. Then because of the insufficient power I also had to go and rent a generator to run my machinery. Hence all the delays and increased time costs. He agreed to compensate for the rental because of unforeseen issues with the VCT tile. To achieve the look he wanted would have been cost prohibitive for him. I have lived in Emerald Isle for 35 years and have a good reputation and have never been called dishonest or uneliable. Long story short, I will never do another job that requires removing VCT that is 50 years old. The floor was not ideal to work with. There was nothing I did that could be called dishonest.
