First and foremost - the single most important part of ANY contracted project - we got exactly what we wanted, for the price agreed upon at the start, and everything was done RIGHT and is of excellent quality. For most people, that is 90% of the battle. Projects can be a nightmare while in process, but in the end, if you get what you paid for with no exceptions, then the bad memories fade and all you have left is your awesome completed project. That said, our project was a bit rough. First off, this was not a standard pool kit build. We had an existing pool that we wanted to be enlarged and deepened, and Bob was one of only two builders that would entertain the project. We ended up choosing him because he never wavered in his confidence, had an answer to every question, and was very responsive and attentive throughout the year-long planning process. It was very clear that this was a guy who knew what he was doing, and if we were going to tackle a non-standard project such as this, it would be best to have a veteran who has seen pretty much everything at the helm. In hindsight, this was a great decision because, given the obstacles that came up during the build, I am not sure the other builders I consulted would have lasted. We were originally quoted 2-3 weeks for the build, and once the whole COVID situation popped up we knew that timeline would be out the window. In all, it took about 2.5 months from start to finish and most of that time was spent waiting for a liner. This is where my one valid complaint comes in - communication. We got stuck waiting on a vendor for nearly two weeks for an answer that I could have given right away, had I known what the question was. At the time neither myself nor Bob could have predicted the implications of that seemingly minor thing, but in hindsight, it is pretty clear to me that it would have saved us the long wait on the liner. That said contractors are notoriously bad communicators and Bob is actually far better than most. I never had to wait more than 24 hours for a return call or text. Furthermore, it is entirely possible that without the COVID nightmare, none of these delays would have happened. So it could have been all completely out of our hands anyway. In conclusion, we are very happy with our pool. We had to survive one rough summer mostly without a pool but we can now enjoy decades of awesome summers and this one will be a distant memory. I would absolutely recommend Twilight Pools to anyone in the market, and ESPECIALLY if you have a unique project and need to be sure you have got a seasoned pro running the show. With Twilight there is no concern about underpaid kids or shady subs doing most of the work. Everything starts and stops with Bob, and all work is done under his watch. So you get the veteran you pay for the entire time.
