How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I love working with people, building and bringing visions to life. I was born and raised in the trades, My Dad was a general contractor and taught me a lot about the trades even before my formal training in finish carpentry and millworking. I went from my dads company, to starting one with my brother, to starting my own. Then he spent two decades growing, developing, and operating large-scale services businesses at brands like Owens Corning, Home Depot, and Andersen Windows. Now, I own and operates Ultimate Service Provider. In my spare time you can find my truck in the Home Depot parking lot on Sunday mornings getting ready to tackle projects of my own home. If not there, Ill probably coaching youth sports for one of my three children, fishing for striped bass, or enjoying live local music with my wife & friends..

Build or Replace a Composite Deck

Nate and his team did EXCEPTIONAL work building my composite deck. He provided me with multiple options/estimates so that I could decide which one would support my budget. He went above and beyond in finding the composite decking option that would best suit my needs. He and his team are incredibly professional and Nate is onsite the entire time - he did not quote me a price, and then send a different crew to do the work. He is incredibly thorough and took the time to check in with me to ensure that I was happy with the progress made each day. He was incredibly respectful of my property - and treated my project as if he was doing it at his own home. I am THRILLED not only with how my gorgeous deck looks now but that I have a trusted, professional company I can and will reach out to for ALL my home renovation projects. Install or Replace Exterior Doors

Nate and team did a great job installing a new entry and storm door. He had a great selection of doors to offer at very reasonable prices and lead times. I was so happy to hear they provide some many other services too. Weâ re definitely going to have them do are kitchen next year.

Install Electrical Switches, Outlets, and Fixtures

I hired Nate to replace our old outside lights with modern motion sensor LED lighting, along with replacing an old porch light. The whole experience was positive from the first call back to the final result. Nate is a pleasure to work with. He is very professional and experienced, and made sure I was satisfied with the results. He even fixed some woodpecker damage to our shingles near the side lights while he was here. I was happy to learn that he provides many other services, and we looked at a few other potential projects while he was here. He had some interesting ideas, and will be the first person I call for the next project!

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
