Worse experience ever! I was left with more of an issue than I had to begin with. I would never use this company again or recommend. There was a smell of gas in my basement 12-28 in which consumers came out and detected a leak at my hot water tank and recommended I get a new union. While the consumers technician was there he tested all of my gas appliances to ensure safety. He then found a small leak in the fuel line hose behind my stove. There was no strong smell or hissing sound coming from my stove so that was surprising. The consumers technician sprayed their solution and showed me the bubbles that indicated a leak. Lee from universal plumbing came to repair both gas leaks. But somehow after he â repairedâ the gas line behind the stove and cut the gas valve back on, there was a hissing sound and a very strong smell of gas. He then told me that the issue was a piece that connects the gas line to the stove itself (this is NOT where consumers reported a leak that I confirmed with my own eyes) and that I need to get that part replaced or get a new stove. I asked a ton of questions as to why there was such a strong gas odor and hissing and that was never the case before. Lee said â It couldâ ve been an issue that was just made worse while we were making our repairsâ . So basically my stove was damaged during â repairâ and I was ultimately told that they donâ t work on appliances so itâ s nothing they can do. All in all I paid hundreds of dollars to end up with a broken stove during the holidays. Thanks a lot Universal Plumbing!

The initial installation ended being a Michigan plumbing code violation as the sump pump pipes was put in what is called the work area for the electrician. The company did not pull a work permit which is required for any sum pump work done on our area, had this been done this problem could have been avoided, When I called to try to get the problem resolved, I was told that I would have to paid additional monies for them to come out and install a part for which they would pull a work permit and correct the problem, I agreed. However, the company did not pull the permit which should have been done before the job was started, I called the company and explained that a work permit has to be pulled before the job is started. I was told that the matter would be addressed. Needless to say after the job was completed no work permit was pulled and I was told that I would have to pay before the permit could be pulled. Since I refused to do so, the tech was told to remove the part. I even offered to pay for the permit, my offer was refused. Why would I pay for a job that required a work permit per the city inspector that was not pulled prior to the job? I was told that if I wanted or needed that part to called them back and they would be glad to accommodate me. I just laughed and ended my conversation. Make sure permits are pulled prior to any work being done, also check with your city building inspector to see what type of jobs require a permit. On a positive note the code violation was corrected and now the electrical work can be done. Not using them again to much hassle.
