Vander Wal Appraisal Company is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan but we do Appraisals all over West Michigan. Fred Vander Wal and Kim Whiting are highly qualified and respected Appraisers. Fred Vander Wal is a Certified Residential Appraiser. We do Appraisals for many major Banks but because of changes in the Lending World, we CAN NOT do appraisals where a Lender is involved. Lenders HAVE TO order Appraisals themselves. Therefore, we specialize in Estate, For Sale by Owners, Divorce and Tax Appraisals. Our typical fee is $275.00 for locations within 50 miles of us. This can be higher or lower depending on each individual situation.

This was the 2nd appraisal done on our house as we are in the selling process- the 1st was done by a different appraiser only a few weeks before but that sale fell through. We were shocked that, although nothing changed about the house, Vanderwal appraised our house $5,000 less than it was before. When asked to correct this (with a ton of supporting evidence) he refused. So I am extremely frustrated. For a family on a tight budget this means a great deal to us. I wish he would just admit his mistake and not let us pay the price.
