Angi matched me with a handyman named Vincent Kodiko to install 2 Hardie Backer boards (The back of the shower Hardie Backer was already installed) and 3 Swanston shower wall panels. During the installation he improperly tape and mud the 5 Hardie Backer and improperly cut the main swanstone back panel about ½ inch short on the upper left and the lower right side. He then permanently glued this ruined panel to the wall anyway. Before he started, we went over the installation procedure. We showed him a video of the installation of the Swanstone shower panels. Also we mentioned that the manufacturer recommends making a temple, so there are no mistakes when making the cut on the special order Swanstone shower panels. I even went and bought a roll of brown thick paper for him to make a temple; He refused to use it. He said he was going to use his laser to do the measurement to cut the Swanstone panel. He Worked on Monday July 27,Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29 and August 3, 2026 . On Tuesday August 4, I sent him a message around 9:00 am that said; Vincent, we are stopping the shower project immediately. Because you ignored the instructions to make a temple and cut the back Swanstone panel incorrectly, you have ruined the expensive Swanstone panel and forced us into a total demolition of all 3 Hardie Backer boards. The cost of the ruined material and tear down and labor far exceed the value of work, so we will not be paying you. Please come,gather the few tools you left and leave the premises. Later that day I sent him another message. Hi Vincent, is Daisy Jackson. I texted you this morning Tuesday August 4th regarding the shower walls project. My husband mentioned that you told him you have business insurance. Can you please send me your company name, agent and your policy number. He never replied. To fix this mistake, a new contractor will have to completely demolish the wall, cut out the ruined Swanstone panel, and tear out the 5 Hardie Backer boards that were already taped and mudded. Since I initiated and booked this entire appointment through Angi website, I need Angi to open a formal investigation under your Happiness Guarantee Program. We did not pay him any money for the job he did. We did not sign any contract. Everything was through verbal conversation. He agreed to do the job and asked to be paid $1000 plus, I offered to give him $500.00 if he did a good job. We did not share any important communication on the website or through phone calls. The only thing there is the 2 text messages that I sent him on August 4 and on Angi website stating He loves doing this type of job . I am going to try to send you photos of the shower walls. The resolution that I want is for someone to pay for the damage caused to my shower walls. The total amount of the damage is: One special order of Swanstone back panel shower wall 62 wide by 30 deep by 84 high, color Birch $1,753.55 5 Hardier Backer board $92.77 5 tubes of of clear Dap commercial kitchen 100 % silicone NSF caulk $74.76 A total amount of $1,921.08 Not counting the labor of the demolition of all the shower walls.

Vincent did a great job completing my project. He listened to what I needed done, discussed the details with me, completed the work in a timely manner. Very happy with the end results.

His work pattern was very unpredictable. He failed to show up at many scheduled appointments and didn?t communicate this. The scope of work agreed upon was never completed. His assembly of the products he completed were good, but he struggled with tasks beyond that scope of work.
