Excellent work

We hired WDL to demolish the old garage and slab and build a new garage and foundation. This was a fixed-price contract. The project took a year to complete from the point in time we paid the initial progress payment. In January 2023 we were told the project was complete and by our visual inspection, all construction appeared to be finished. We paid the final payment and the project was paid in full. About a week later the electrical subcontractor WDL used for our project informed us that WDL had not paid them for the work and that the final electrical inspection had not been done. Subsequently, we also found out that WDL had not completed all the permit activities required by the City and that the construction and drainage permits had expired. We also received via certified mail a copy of the electricians notice of intent to file a mechanical lien they sent to WDL informing them they would file a lien on our property for nonpayment. We contacted WDL about these issues and after som3 back-and-forth emails, WDL wanted us to pay for the remaining permitting activities and permit renewal costs. They did not the electricians payment issue other than to say the electrician wanted to be paid before calling for the final electrical inspection. We responded that this was a fixed-price contract and that these costs were part of the agreement and that we had already paid in full for everything, including the electricians work. WDL has not addressed these outstanding items and has ceased communication with us. They have abandoned the project, not paid their electrical sub for work performed and left us with permitting issues, and forced us to spend money to defend our property against a lien. I find it difficult to give this contractor any higher rating for the construction work when they have left us with these issues and failed to pay their subcontractor when we paid the contracted amount in full.

For anyone out there looking for a contractor, we cannot say enough good things about WDL Lumber. They built a remarkable garage apartment/addition for us and aside from the job being done right and on budget, they were a delight to work with. They made us feel like we were part of their family. Every construction project takes longer than expected, but all the wait was worth it to see the finished product done so well. Korie listened to us and was so helpful in taking our ideas and turning them into a beautiful building. It was especially wonderful working with so many women. Aloa and Fabiola always heard us and communicated well. Everyone WDL has working on their team are talented people who do their jobs well. We got the feeling that they had all been working together for years and took pride in what they did. From design to permitting to building. We couldn't be happier.

They were very quick to assess the problem and implement a repair. Very good value for the quality of work

workers made a few mistakes, but Kourie made them correct the mistakes to my satisfaction. many positive comments from friends and neighbors! ask Kourie to show off her dimeand ring.

Work was done as promised. We just had some little things come up at the end. The people in the office are very responsive, but the workers themselves seem to have a different schedule.

I thought they were great. Kourie, the project manager was excellent; she answered any questions I had and made sure everything was done well. She made sure the design was what I wanted. She also is very easy to work with. The staff showed up as scheduled and were professional in their work. Aloa, office manager, was also quite nice. I heartily recommend WDL Lumber, Inc. I now have a awesome garage that complements the design of my over 100 year old house; thanks to Kourie and WDL.

I hired them to build a garage in Galveston. They said they are experienced in the requirements of the area due to windstorm codes. I contracted with them. I felt that I had hired a company that would oversee the project. I ended up having to be on the job every other day to catch mistakes and communicate with the foreman. The office staff was very responsive during the process. I had to inform them that the crew had broken into the house for power, The sheathing material they were trying to use was not what was in the contract. The framing joints had 1" to 1.5" gaps. The window openings were framed as door openings. They asked for final payment before the job was completed, they were aggressive. I told the building was not complete and they were not aware of this, because no one inspected the project. I met with them and they corrected the items. At this time, I have not received the wind storm certification on the building. (I can not insure the structure). They are no longer in communication with me. All I get is I will check on that. Very unhappy

I had a garage apartment built. I am thrilled with the result. The project did run behind but it was due to factors outside of WDL's control. The company overcame many challenges and kept the project on budget. The price was reasonable. I would hire them again.

I researched and received many bids from companies within the Houston area. I decided on WDL Lumber because of their excellent customer service and reasonable bid. All phases of project were done on time and project was finished as projected. All materials were top grade including; lumber, bolts, nails, hardie, windows, and doors. Only complaint I have is that they consistently asked for payments early despite fixed goals before payments in contract. Despite this, the staff was always friendly and I would hire them for future projects.

They are not done yet but they are on schedule and should be done on time.

We are extremely pleased with the garage/workshop that was constructed efficiently by dedicated and professional crews. George was hands-on throughout the process and readily responded to any questions. The men were friendly, on time, polite and cleaned up any debris. The workshop (garage) is just as we pictured it and we would highly recommend this company to anyone.

I want to thank you for your exceptional and dedicated commitment to the completion of my room addition. My wife and I are very pleased with the workmanship of your crews and I am very impressed with the helpfulness and professionalism of your cordial and always cheerful office staff. In the future, should I decide to build a barn or work shop you will be the first I call.

Everyone was GREAT!!! They really worked with us to make our garage office/apt to be out standing. The workers were really professional and creative. We would highly recommend them.

I found WDL lied to get the job. They made promises & didn't deliver. They kept going up on the price. Used sub contractors whom standards were below standard. I did learn a valuable lesson.
