Value-conscious solutions to your electrical needs

Over 20 years of experience in the San Diego residential market. My passion is helping homeowners create the 'perfect feel' to their home through creative lighting and electrical solutions. I work closely with homeowners to find out their particular 'style' as well as budget, and then bring my considerable expertise to finding the best value-conscious solutions. I am an expert in trouble-shooting electrical issues, and will give you an accurate estimate of expected costs before beginning work. I have experience in all phases of electrical work including ground-up whole house, remodel, kitchens and baths, electrical panel trouble-shooting and replacement; as well as energy-efficient lighting and "smart home" solutions; and also commercial repairs. I look forward to helping you with your electrical needs!

Keith Walter is a professional in every sense of the word. He knows his work and he explains the work that is needed or will be needed and his fees are reasonable.

Keith Walter the owner, was very professional and easy to work with. We worked out a proposal that was within my budget without sacrificing the scope of work necessary to get my home completely rewired. His workers were conscientious, hardworking and rewired my old 1942 home with minimal cutting into my plaster walls. I plan to do some additional wiring and lighting for my yard and backyard deck and I will most definitely go with Walter Electric.
Response by Walter Electric: Thank you for your kind words, Elsa! As often happens on our larger jobs, the clients end up becoming friends. She called me not long ago with some questions regarding some of the work a solar company was wanting to do on her home, and I offered to go back out (at no charge) and check some items out for her. We take great pride in our commitment to our clients, and a lot of the work that we get is either a client we've had before that wants additional work, or someone who has been referred by one of our clients.

Word to the Wise---When dealing with any and all workers make sure you get up-front estimate in writing. For some reason, my job needed 2 people. One priced at $75 per hour and another at $40 per hour. 3 days of work, 58 hours later, total labor cost of $3,450. Yes, our fault for not getting upfront estimate in writing. I feel I could have hired one electrician for 5 days, 40 hours and got the same work completed at $45 per hour or about half. Yes, happy with quality of work but feel we got taken for a ride on labor costs. Again no matter how much you trust the worker, get it in writing and agree on price prior to starting the work.
Response by Walter Electric: Most of my work, by far the great majority, is done on a bid basis. The nature of this project lent itself to Time and Materials. I told them our hourly rate up front. We are licensed, bonded, insured. That adds a significant amount to our overhead, but it protects the homeowner. Yes, you might be able to find a non-licensed handyman to work for $45/hour, but when it comes to electrical, I hope you choose to work with someone who is reputable and licensed/insured. These were very nice people, and they were very happy with the quality of the work. For 95+% of the projects that I look at, we give an upfront bid so we all know what the costs will be. One thing that I take great pride in is my integrity: I'm not the guy to come in "lowball" and then add to what we originally agreed on. I take a lot of time up front in my proposals (most of my clients are amazed at how detailed they are). I've got over 20 years in the trade and I know the various "vintages"/eras of the homes in the various areas of San Diego, so I have a good sense of what to expect on each project.

Keith the owner was friendly, professional, and honest. He came in and gave me a thorough assessment of what I need. His team Alan and Sal both worked on my house after I hired them. These two men where friendly, and kept my place clean and did their jobs with great proficiency. I had my house rewired and some older outlets grounded. I was concern with damages to the walls and ceiling because they would have to cut into both to do the work. However, Alan did a beautiful job patching the wall and texturing it when they were done you couldn't tell anything has been done to the wall. They were not the lowest bid. However, they did a wonderful job and the extra money I spent was worth it. I was a little skeptical of 5 star ratings from so many reviewers, but now I am a believer.
Response by Walter Electric: I always appreciate working with highly discerning homeowners, the "picky" ones that want nothing than the best in quality. That's exactly how me and my team operate--we like to give our clients work that is a "cut above"/more than they expected. I have learned that if we go the extra mile, we feel better about the job, and so does the client. We (myself and my team) take great pride in our work! Thanks for the great review Hung!
