"I'm sorry to hear you being so harsh Phil. We installed a code compliant staircase on a home in South Weymouth, we even repaired the foundation for them which was in disrepair. We also changed the elevation of the staircase to adequately plan for a new walkway install. The existing walkway was pitched incorrectly and thus caused heaving and complete break down of the walkway. To prevent this we planned on a 2% slope for the new walkway. We even revisited the site to install grade lines for the asphalt company to follow. Perfectly executed and to current codes. This customer harassed our company at all hours of the day, even after 10pm. It's unfortunate there is not a way to leave reviews for contractors to beware, because this is one of them. We have executed thousands of hardscape and staircases over the years, this is the first to be unhappy."
"I would like to add some clarification to this review. We were contracted with the above customer in August of this year. She insisted on being her own General Contractor on the project. My company as well as the local building department suggested she not take on this role and hire a professional to handle the general contracting work required to ensure the success of this project. She decided against any advice and was acting GC on the project. We do indeed use subcontractors however in this instance we were never allowed to get far enough along to have our form company come in. The project involved a small addition to be constructed off the back of the house. We were contracted to provide excavation, foundation and basement floor. During excavation, it was discovered that the existing field-stone foundation would not be adequate for the renovations my client had planned. The excavation was done mechanically up until the last 2-3 feet of earth next the existing foundation wall. The remaining excavation was done manually by a Warner Brothers laborer with a shovel. It was discovered the foundation, expected to be older than 100 years old, had no footing and little to no mortar support joints. I advised my client to consult with her engineer and/or architect regarding the matter. There was no damage to the foundation as she claims, it was simply inadequate. There was never any blame shifted to our company until the day we left the job for good. My client informed me she consulted with her " builder" who had shored up the basement and would let me know of her decision on how to rectify the inadequate foundation. She contacted me and stated the builder would be removing and demoing the back of her home and then would have us remove the inadequate section of foundation. She then had a dumpster dropped in the driveway, blocking our excavation equipment in the backyard. The equipment was held captive by said dumpster for 22 days while the general contractor attempted to pull permits, which were never pulled or in place. At this time major structural, plumbing, electrical and demolition was underway under the direction of the owner/ general contractor with no legal permitting in place or professional guidance, just her hired help. The general contractor then misrepresented having proper permitting and permissions in place and tried to involve our company in her illegal project. At this time it was decided that it was a better decision to leave the project until proper permitting was in place, change orders were recorded, and a general contractor with knowledge and skill was hired. Stressful situation ? Yes! Every step of the way with this project was stressful and cost our company money. The client refused to take any advice our company had provided or any advise from anyone for that matter. Please take this advice, if you have a construction project with a value greater than 20k, and you are unsure if you can handle it, please hire a reputable GC to o"
