Hiring this contractor resulted in one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor. We originally asked Philip for a quote for counter-top installation for a kitchen update. He informed us, and he can do that as well as paint the cabinets and re-tile the backsplash. His price for all 3 jobs was very reasonable and it seemed efficient to go with one contractor. I did have concerns that he did not have many reviews online, but he told me he was just starting out in this area and that was why, so we decided we would go with him as my wife liked him. The job started out fine, but as we neared the end he started to raise the price and demand more money. Also, for some reason, some of his contractors only worked on weekends, which seemed strange and was inconvenient, but we were fine with it as they were on a deadline. His painters did a good job, as well as the outsourced counter-top company he used. The problems began when he supposedly, finished the job (a few days late) and my wife made the cardinal mistake of paying him in full when he said he was finished before we had a chance to check everything. She told him she wanted to wait, but she said he kept yelling at her and insisted. Once I got home after my wife paid him, I noticed that the cabinet doors were not closing properly and some of the hinges were not connected. All worked perfectly when he started the job. Shelves were missing. The backsplash had many tiles that were not aligned properly and looked bad. We brought all these things to his attention, and he kept making appointments to come back to complete the job but never showed up. After 3.5 weeks he did show up to return the shelves and said that he would return to correct the backsplash and fix the hinges, but he never showed up on the days and times he scheduled. My wife stayed home several days waiting for him to show up wasting her time. He did not have the courtesy to call or even cancel. We continued to try to reach him via phone, but his phone either went straight to voicemail or was dead. This contractor disappeared. Some of his subcontractors are good, but his customer service and follow-up were horrible as well as his practices to extract more money after agreeing on the price. All I can say is beware if you use Phillip.

The retiling of our shower recess was excellent quality. Their price was significantly better than competitors'. Small deduction for not completely cleaning up and restoring bathroom to its original state. I think the tiler was in a hurry to get to another job. No big deal-reinstalled shower bar myself and arranged for trash removal. Worth it for the savings.
