Wholesale Central Vacuum, Inc.

I first called Wholesale Central Vacuum on 21 Nov 2023 asking if they could reverse a vacuum outlet from one side of the wall to the other. I was given a $350 estimate. Having some knowledge of what was entailed to accomplish this task, I thought this estimate to be very high. But I agreed and told them I was in no hurry and to please call me with a time and date. I called them back on 27 Nov and left a message with some follow-up clarifying questions. One of these was whether the estimate included restoring the wall to its original condition (drywall and paint). I did not receive a reply. Some week or two later I was contacted to see if they could come do the work then. My response was yes, but it would have to wait about an hour. They did not come. Some week or more later, they called again wanting to come then. I told them I was 6 miles away on my bike, but that I could be there in 30 minutes. They again declined to come. I heard nothing else and on Jan 5 I called and asked why I had not yet been contacted to schedule an appointment in advance. I was told they did not make scheduled appointments and that after two attempts I was just dropped. After a short, civil, but uncomfortable discussion, I was offered a â 1st appointment of the dayâ for the following Tuesday, Jan 9 and was told they might be there as early as 630 AM. I told them 630 AM was fine and accepted. On Jan 8 at 3:27 PM â just before the appointment next morning, I was contacted and informed that it would be necessary to create a hole in the wall larger than the vacuum outlet to access and reverse it. I responded that yes, I had realized that some time ago, and asked whether the drywall repair was included in the estimated. The response was, no. Two men arrived at 745 am on Jan 9. They were cordial, efficient, and were in, finished, and out the door by 810 am â 25 minutes. I called my payment in later in the morning and was charged $384.12. I was dissatisfied with the scheduling, lack of reply to my phone message, and the cost. But since I was satisfied with the actual service performed, I assign 2 stars instead of one. $384.12 amounts to an hourly rate of $921.88. And this is for a service that as far as I know does not require special training or licensing like an electrician or plumber. I think the next time I need to hire someone to work on my central vacuum, I will try to find a lawyer or a doctor with handyman skills. Iâ m sure I would save some money and get better service.

They tried to make the existing system respond to remotes before installing a new system. When that didn't work they installed the new opener and had me test it several days before billing. They are efficient and thorough in their work. I Will call them should I have any problems with my other garage door. Their price was considerably lower than the others.
