We’re so happy with how our bathroom turned out! The whole team was easy to work with, super friendly, and really paid attention to what we wanted. They gave great suggestions, and made the whole process way less stressful than we expected. Our new bathroom looks amazing and is a huge upgrade to our home. Thanks!

Everything went so much smoother than we could have imagined. Signing the contract with our salesman was super easy and we weren't pressured into anything at all. We ended up having a patio door and 5 windows put in to replace our sketchy 1970s windows and door. The crew took extra time to clean and replace anything wrong with the openings and ensure they had a refreshed frame to re-insulate and seal

The Window Store did such an amazing job on our kitchen reface and cabinet inserts project. From start to finish, everything went smoothly and every promise was delivered. The project was finished within the timeline we were given and the installation went smoothly. Everyone we worked with at The Window Store was amazing and helpful and really made the whole experience as stress free as possible. Our cabinets are beautiful and we are thrilled with the end result.

The installers where fabulous! They did a great job. No damage to the walls and they put booties on their shoe EVERY time the came in the house. The A for Professionalism and Punctuality go to the installers. I am very happy with the quality of the windows and love with the end result! For that they get an overall A!
The company itself service was good, but I would have preferred a bit more hand holding when spending that much money. No follow up calls from our Sales Rep. Never hear anyone from the sales team after we signed the contract.

Things went well and both the cost & service met our expectations and needs. One of the great benefits of refacing your kitchen- vs. a full remodel- is that they were done in less than 3 full days.
The installer was very professional. We had some trouble with the shelf slides that were installed so they came out right away and put in a better grade of slides.
Couldn't be happier with our "new" kitchen.
Unprofessional, pushy, and full of half-truths and lies. Wanted to charge an astronomical amount for low quality windows and used very deceitful tactics to get us to sign up for their service.
Never, ever go with a company that will not give ALL the time oyu need to consider their offer. It was plainly obvious they didn't want us to have an opportunity to get estimates from any other company. Once we did, we realized they wanted to charge us more than 2-3 times as much as the LOWEST bid from other companies.
The person giving us an estimate didn't even see the windows he was bidding on, let alone measure them.

A young man came to our door one day to tell us about The Window Store and asked if we would like a quote. The Window Store is expanding to the Milwaukee area and now has a store in New Berlin, WI. That is the store we dealt with. My wife made an appointment to have someone come and give us a quote. The salesman was punctual, friendly, and professional. He explained the features and benefits of their preferred replacement window, along with demonstrating their energy efficiency. He explained that they offered other brands of windows as well, but that these were the most durable (50 year warranty) and energy efficient at the best price.

The windows were just what we were looking for, so we had him give us a quote on 8 windows which would replace all the windows in the front rooms of our house. The price seemed reasonable for a high quality window. We also received a discount for agreeing to do certain things on a list to help them promote The Window Store (writing this review was NOT one of them). For example, letting them put a sign in our yard, take before and after pictures that they could show to future customers, send out a postcard with pictures of our house to people in our area (things like that).

The salesman explained that it would take a few weeks for them to build the custom windows and that they would call to set a date to come and replace them. We did not feel that the salesman was "pushy" or "high pressure" at all. He was very friendly and just presented the information and answered all of our questions. We were very comfortable with the salesman and with the transaction.

After a few weeks they called to set a date, and (of course) it was raining that morning. They called and explained that it is better not to do this in a pouring rain, so that if it didn't stop before noon, they would come on a different day.
This is the only reason I did not give them an "A" for communication. The rain did stop at around 10:30 AM and they did not call or show up that day. My wife made arrangements to be home that morning, and stayed home thinking they might come since the rain had stopped. But with this one exception, the communication throughout the process met or exceeded our expectations.
They did come the next day, however, and replaced all 8 windows. We felt the work was very well done, the workers were friendly and explained things well, and the work was completed that afternoon. They also cleaned up everything very well. We were very impressed with the quality of work and the professionalism of the workers.

We also are very happy with our new windows and plan on calling again when we can afford to replace more of them.
"Thank you for a wonderful report. When customers actually have us come out they are amazed about how fair we are. Those that don't are missing the boat. Here is another wonderful letter we just received: The Window Store did an amazing job with my windows. When I was approached at the door I thought, "What am I getting myself into?" Contrary to those thoughts the company was wonderful. I recommend them for any window replacements. All the employees were amazing. They were very efficient with their work, courteous and did a great job cleaning up. I look forward to being able to open the windows and actually be able to see out them again! It's crazy to think of all the benefits I have been missing out on. I will finish up my home soon with the rest of the windows. Karina S.- Champlin, MN Thank you for another wonderful report!"

It was a good experience for me. Although the sales call was quite lengthly, when I heard the price I wanted I signed. The installers were prompt, courteous, hardworking, and experienced. They sided my 2 story home in 3 1/2 days and I love the way it turned out. There were no hassels and they took care of everything, including installing new outside lights and a new mailbox. I would recommend this company.

"Thank you for a wonderful report. Almost 100% of the customers that actually contract with us give us fantastic reports like you did. We never want the sales call to be to "lengthy" but at times we feel it is necessary to make sure you get to know and understand the company you will be dealing with. Therefore, an extra 60 minutes is totally worth the time and savings you received to make sure that you received everything you wanted in this siding job. Thank you again for a wonderful report!"

Scott, the The Window Store rep, was very prompt and accommodating. He listened to us and then showed us appropriate options. He also separated the expenses so we could remove what we could live without and stay within budget. The Window Store (TWS) does offer some discounts like an on-site advertising discount, referral discount, and a deal where they offer a free refrigerator with a certain amount of work done; the value of the refrigerator credit can be credited to the bill. It seemed like a fair deal, so we signed that night.

The guy who measured the cabinets also was one of the craftsmen and was punctual and worked quickly but accurately. We were told the work would start in a few weeks, but they called us in a few days to tell us they could start right away. The job took four half-days -- demolition, veneering the outer cabinet boxes, veneering the cabinet faces/sanding, and finish work (moldings, etc.). The two guys doing the work did a nice job of cleaning up each day so we could use the kitchen. They did have to come back the next week to install a piece of crown molding which was miscut, but they were on time and got in and got out.

The kitchen looks terrific! It's a huge change from what we had before, and the work met my expectation of excellence. Corners are straight, moldings meet without gaps, cuts are smooth. Even though we did not replace the countertops or cabinet hardware, people who've seen the old kitchen think we did. The look is _that_ different.

A note about the price. As I mentioned earlier, we felt the price offered on the night of their visit was fair. It was more than we expected, but that is not uncommon for home-improvement projects :-) We liked the people we'd had contact with and I liked that they were local and of long standing with the company. A few days after we signed, however, we got a bid from a kitchen remodelor we'd had in the same week. His bid was _half_ of TWS'. He, too, got very good reviews on Angie's List. I do know the work and materials were not identical (for example, TWS finishes the bottoms of cabinets so they match the cabinet box, and TWS' cabinet samples looked more solid). But at half the price for good work ... So I rated the price as Fair -- I think we got what we paid for. Not a ripoff, not a screaming deal. Just a word to shoppers who have a smaller budget.

Overall, the work was done with professionalism and good quality.
The timeliness of the work was a bit slower than estimated. We were told we could expect the work to be completed by Holloween, when, in fact, it was not finished until mid December. The brundt of the delay was due to the slow installment of the siding. We were told the slower pace was due to the need to replace some wood under the eves, and the amount of intricate work neccessary because of the age of the house. We also had to urge the siding foreman to cover the elbow joices on the house after he told us it would be too expensive and difficult to do. I was impressed with the response from the company after our reminder of what we were given as an estimate, and the work was completed as promised. We have been very happy with the final product and feel we can recommend the Window Store for anyone needing this service.

I visited the booth for the Window Store Home Improvements at the Home Show. The company called to set up an appointment to discuss our kitchen project. Salesman Joe Todd arrived and spent four hours going over what we wanted without a downpayment up front. Because of his extensive experience, he was able to answer all our questions, suggest good alternatives and solve problem areas. He gave us a contract and we agreed to the contract two days later. The company was able to schedule the work to fit our very tight schedule and completed all terms of the contract to our satisfaction. The work was performed by Scott Adamski and Dan Sivula. Both of these workers had extensive and lenghthly experience but more importantly, they had a CAN-DO attitude and were able to follow through on everything we requested. We are absolutely thrilled with the work they did to complete our new kitchen. Their sense of quality, attention to detail and pleasant personalities, plus cleaning up after their work each day, made the project a pleasant experience. We would be happy to work with them again.

They replaced the kitchen window first. The window was not installed to code so it was rather difficult for them to remove the window but they did a very nice job. Complaint: With the window gone, but not yet replaced, some of the workers smoked and the cigarette smoke came into the house.

They did a nice job on one egress window in the basement. The second window caused some problems. They installed the window but discovered a yellow jackets nest on the boards near the window. Instead of calling me, they sprayed yellow expanding foam into the opening of the nest which did not help matters and aggrevated the yellow jackets. I came home and discovered a real mess of what looked like yellow dog poop all over the location. We hired an exterminator who took care of the hornets.

A few day later, we had a rainstorm and the "yellow jacket" window in the basement leaked. I left several messages with the company to come see the damage. No response. I felt that I could not go to Angie's list because of the agreement so I when I got nowhere with the company, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on August 2. It took several weeks for a response, but the owner came out and explained about the yellow jacket incident. He said he was not happy that his workers used the expanding foam to address the yellow jacket problem. He also re-caulked the window so it would not leak. (He found a finger sized gap in the caulk that was allowing air and rain in. I closed the Better Business complaint on Aug.25.

I was going to let this slide but this year have been receiving calls from this company asking if we wanted additional windows done. And given our past experience, I'm not willing to do so. I'm especially reluctant to recommend this company as I feel that people are "encouraged" to write up a positive review for Angie's list or write a letter to get a lower rate. This I feel is disenguine and a misleading business practice.

The siding showed up on July 11 2011 as did the siding crew of 3. As the crew was opening the box's, I realized that some of the trim was to wrong color (corner pieces) and gable vents were not ordered. They sent one of the guy's to get the correct colored corners and the other two started removing the old siding and putting up the new. After the first day, they had the front done and part of one side. On the second day, I came home from work and they were starting on the back of the house. As the siding crew was leaving they said they were going to leave the area between the sun porch and the roof because it would be to hard to do. At this point, I started to look around the house to see if anything else was to hard for them. This is when I discovered the Cable line had been pulled out of the house, some of the siding was cut short and didn't fit under the j channel(trim) there was no Tyvek installed under the siding, some of the seams were facing the wrong way. So I called The Window Store and was told that the Tyvek was not needed and I would have to call the cable company to get the cable fixed because it's not there responsibility. As far as the siding cuts they said after there done siding the crew will go back and fix all the mistakes and they will put siding between the sun porch and roof. So I call the cable co. and they tell me it's better to wait until the siding is done before they put the cable back but sent over a guy and he ran a cable threw the house from a bed room to the living room so we could watch t.v. again. Day 3 I get home from work and they have the back of the house done and It looks like they stopped caring at all. J channel was used instead of starter strip so siding flaps in the wind but I remember that I was told they would fix all the mistakes. Day 4 they side the last side of the house. I come home from work and the phone line is now cut and hanging from the pole, the crew tells me I need to call the phone co. to have it put back up. I also see a big hole in a screen and the wood that was to be replaced was only partly done with damage done to other pieces of wood that was covered up with caulk. The lead guy on the crew told me that the area around the gable vents can't be done because they don't have the vents and he is going on vacation for a week so I have to wait a week before he can finish. I call the window store again and express my dissapointment in the work and time it's going to take. The owner Howard Ackermen tells me "its home improvement not home rebuilding" and he'll sent someone out to look at the house to see if my complaints are legitimate. The guy shows up to look at the house and is like me in shock he starts pointing things out that i didn't see and didn't know about because I'm not a siding installer. we also find 3 more windows with damaged screens, prybar marks on two windows 1/2 the starter strips are not attached to the house, siding from the front to back of house is not even corner pieces cut wrong, seams on j channel going around windows not straight, the wood around the windows should have been replaced if damaged and not filled with caulk. He tells me i'm "110% right in my complaint" and he will forward his findings to Howard. A few days later I get a phone call from the lead guy and he tells me he'll be back to finish the job, i tell him i need to talk to Howard first. I call Howard and tell him I don't want that crew back to finish the house because they tried to cover up the wood with caulk, I tell Howard I would like the guy that looked at the house to fix/finish it. Howard say's that would be fine and he'll have the guy call me. The guy calls me and says he'll be out to get started on the house but he has to move some people around to free up a guy. The new guy shows up and tells me he would like to take all the siding down and start from scratch because it would be faster then trying to fix piece by piece as it would take 3 days once the siding was removed but Howard won't let them do it that way. They start working on fixing the siding piece by piece row by row and it takes a long time plus the guy doing the job has to do other house's because he has his business of home restoration for the city of Milwaukee so this is more work then he had planed. In this time I've had The Window Store call asking for payment 3 times I told the lady the job isn't done yet so why are to calling. Each time she said that she was told the house was done. So it has been 40+ days and the siding is done but there are still problems that need to be fixed as well as the screens repaired. Howard tells me to keep $200 until the screens are fixed and i tell him the wood around the windows still needs to be repaired then he tells me it's not in the contract I tell him to check again it's in the contract. So we get to day 51 and the house is done. I have to mention the second guy apologized every time we spoke even through it wasn't his fault ,Howard not once. I call Howard to settle the bill and tell him how disappointed I am in the whole deal. He tells me he will come by the house and we will settle up then. Howard and I talk about what happened and finally apologizes for the time it took and the way he spoke to me on the phone. He then says to take $200 off the bill and he will do better to meet customers expectations. For me everybody makes mistakes its what you do about it that counts. How Howard handled the situation was unprofessional.

We originally agreed to hear the sales rep's presentation just so we could get an idea of what we would be getting into when we did decide to purchase new windows. The price and financing option (we were able to qualify for 0%, three year financing) convinced us this was something we should go ahead and do this year, instead of down the road. The company sent someone to measure for the windows, and they were ready to be installed within a few weeks. The two men who came to install the windows worked quickly and efficiently, taking care to protect the areas where they were working and cleaning up as they went. They had all the new windows in place within a day, and came back the next day to finish the trim work. We were amazed that first night at how quiet our house had become! There was a terrific thunderstorm, and we didn't even know about it until we stepped outside the next morning for the newspaper. We have already noticed that our air conditioner didn't work as much on hot days, and we are eager to see how the winter heating bills might be affected by our new windows.
There were only two minor issues: the factory sent the wrong outside handle for the patio door, so that had to be re-ordered and installed later. We were also unaware that we would be responsible for having the city inspect the work after the job was completed. This turned out to be no problem, since we could schedule the inspection at the same time we had our new roof (another company) inspected. The only complaint we have about the actual product is that the weep holes for the patio door do not have screens over them, and they are large enough that insects can enter the house if we leave the patio door open for any length of time. It's a small price to pay for adequate drainage, I suppose.
Overall, we are very happy with our new windows, and with the excellent service we received from The Window Store Home Improvements! We highly recommend this company.
