The company kept asking for more money and did a very poor job on both trim and paint. The job took 8 weeks longer than planned for.

Horrible remodel experience. We paid 80% of our contract and dealt with no shows, low quality work, 5 project mangers, unkept promises, and damage to other parts of our home. After 9 months we still have to hire work to be corrected and finished. We begged to talk to the owner, Joe, but he would NEVER even speak to us. Terrible company. Not sure how they sleep at night.

Do not do business with this company, they stole thousands of dollars from me, they abandoned the worksite, they did not complete the job, they damaged the foundation, they broke my gate and my patio. They are not answering phone calls or emails. their website says the business is closed and I have filed a complaint to revoke their state license and I hired an attorney.

I signed a contract in April 2021 for a partial kitchen and bathroom remodel. They worked for one week in June 2021 and no one has been since then. The kitchen work is only partially done. I have no lights in the kitchen, garage, or outside. The bathroom remodel has not started. I cannot get them to finish the work or give me a refund so I can get someone else to do it.

If you are thinking about remodeling your home, you need to do thorough research regarding the company you choose. Wood Construction presents as a professional company on their website. They have photos of supposed jobs they have completed such as bathrooms and kitchens which look quite impressive. However, there is a process in which the company works its customers which is dishonest, and highly unethical. They take advantage of unsuspecting customers by reeling them in with affordable remodeling prices and promises to begin the jobs quickly. Next they develop a contract with the customer listing all that will be included in the remodel which appears very attractive. The customers are baited now and they move forward to sign on with them, after paying a costly figure of 40% down, which is ludicrous. This is a huge amount to fund any company before work is done. However, the customer is willing to begin the remodel so they attain the funds to get started only to discover that Wood delays the beginning date. Now the customer has paid a huge amount of money and no work begins soon, or ever. Customer after customer list identical complaints on various review sites regarding their difficulties getting anyone from Wood Construction to actually come and begin any work. Any jobs that ARE started begin with demolition of your home. BEWARE!!!!! They will come in and destroy your house and never return to do any remodeling. They leave a trail of disaster and the customer is left with the option of finding someone to complete the work because Wood NEVER returns. When the customer secures help from another company or pursues working on their own, they state you have violated their contract and they cannot honor their 1 year warranty agreement, which is their intent the entire time. These people dont intend to do any work. They have no **skilled laborers ** to do the jobs, they dont intend to do the work, and have a plethora of excuses every time they are questioned. Hunter, Justin, Michael, Jeff, and Joey-What have you done but take advantage of the entire community and abscond with our money???? Time after time again, customers list they signed on for $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 and $60,000 dollars and received nothing to very little for their money. This is possibly the most dishonest company in the Tri-Cities area, but wait...they have businesses in Knoxville and Nashville, TN and several NC businesses as well, such as Greensboro, Asheville, Charlotte, and Raleigh . Do your homework and check out the reviews. If they are short and 5.0, they are simply fake. Probably someone within the company creating accounts to make them look like they are a reputable agency. If they are 1/2 to 1.0, you can guarantee they are absolutely true. Think about it, who would spend so much time to describe in detail their experience with Wood? Someone who had a terrible experience with them, thats who. Get wise and call TN.gov contractor licensing and ask if there are any outstanding complaints regarding this company. You will be astonished to discover the amount of people that have active complaints with the state against them. There are also many active lawsuits against them as well. Do your homework! People of the community, this company needs to be exposed for what they are. It is pure deception of our region and many others as well. Dont be the next victim!

WARNING! This company is skilled at fraud and theft! I hired this company to handle a relatively small kitchen/living room remodel. Upon signing the contract, requiring 50% up-front, we proceeded to wait FOUR entire months before work began. Apart from overcharging for each and every change order, the CEO (Wood himself) stopped paying any suppliers for materials. While waiting for cabinets to be installed, it came to our attention that the company was over $17,000 in debt just that one supplier. Despite having chosen every other material (laminated vinyl plank, granite countertop, etc.), no deposits had been made by the company, and there was no communication from management regarding a timeline or plan for the next steps. At this time, it was discovered that multiple employees for the company have quit due to lack of pay. They also failed to pay subcontractors or contractors, even though we made all payments in full up to that point. They have taken more than $16,000 from us without work being completed. There has been ZERO communication from management about whether or how work will proceed or refunds will be made. We are only one of many, many clients who have been treated this way, others being defrauded out of tens of thousands of dollars more than us. DO NOT do business with these frauds, whether they are working in Tennessee, North Carolina, or elsewhere. DO NOT make the same mistake we did in trusting this company to have integrity.

BEWARE. These people are scammers. I gave them a deposit with a contract. They demolished my bathroom for the remodel and did not return. No response to emails, calls, and texts. Multiple addresses on file. Their license in TN is active on this date. There are many others with the same issues. BEWARE

Bathroom Remodel
I hired Wood Construction in April 2020 from a referral from Home Advisor to remodel a bathroom, bedroom, and office trim work, as well as to remove popcorn ceilings in my dining room and hall. The time frame was set for everything to be completed well before my family was arriving for Memorial Day weekend per the salesperson and project manager. The start was shaky and they did not show up the first week we had set as the start date. They kept making excuses and things only got worse from there. I was constantly texting, calling the project manager (who was eventually fired) also called the salesperson, and Josh, the person in charge of customer relations. They kept promising me they would make things right but nothing ever was resolved. My family came in from Houston and Tri-Cities for Memorial Day weekend and I had to rent an Airbnb to accommodate them and us costing me $2,500. The job is still not completed. There are horrible drywall issues, cracks in the ceiling, tile in my beautiful custom shower is not level, sink cabinet is not square, holes in the ceiling, vent from the shower not connected correctly, paint peeling, and there were leaks in my basement! On 8/31/20, Michael, the salesperson, contacted me for the final payment. He told me Jay was fired and he has been putting out fires ever since. He came over with someone to look at the job. He was shocked and said they would make it right. They hired a new project manager, Taylor, he seemed nice and I thought maybe this would finally all be taken care of. One month later, in October they had a new project manager, Taylor, contact me and he looked over the mess and said it would take weeks to make this right. October was a difficult time with Covid, my mother cousin passed away, I had a new grandchild and the weather getting worse I requested the project be pushed back until the weather was better. Taylor agreed and asked me to touch base when we were ready. I connected with Taylor on 2/8/21 and he said he had to speak with his boss about the project. I never heard back from Taylor so I contacted him again on 3/11/21 and he did not respond. On 3/18 he said they could do it all in 2-3 weeks and he would get back to me asap. Taylor called me again on 4/7 and asked when would we be ready I said let me check with my husband. On 4/13 I called Taylor back and responded that anytime in the next week or so is fine. I just needed a few days to notice to move clothes etc I was never contacted again and tried to contact Taylor on 6/7 6/8 and he never responded. I then called the salesperson on 6/8 and he said he no longer worked there anymore. I have paid them $18,360 toward the project and this was a special home project that I saved a long time for. It was a beyond horrible experience, and I would like my money returned so I can hire an honest, reliable, and quality craftsman.

We signed our contract in May 4 and paid 40% in May 5. Our contract number is 3991. We were promised that the project will finish before the end of July. But today is July 21. Our project has not even started, no materials have been purchased. We call project manager every week, and have been given excuses every time, now there is no more excuse, just donâ t know. We donâ t know who is the person to really control our project and who are They . Before I signed this contract I told Keith Woodley that my husband cannot teach Summer class while doing renovation. So we must finish it by August 20, before Fall semester starts. Now 10 weeks have passed, nothing is happening and â theyâ even running out of excuses. Are we facing a scam? Why canâ t they start and why no material has been purchased? How long we have to wait? We are truly regret to sign contract with Wood Construction, any company will finish our renovation by now. My daughter has signed an over $50k contract with other company two weeks ago. They are starting this Friday. If Wood Construction canâ t start our project, please return our money back. We can always find other people to do it. Its wrong to hold our money and do nothing. Mr. Wood please give us an answer.

If you are in the Raleigh NC area do not hire this company. Wood sold the contract to another construction company and did not inform me so that I could do my due diligence. They did not know the status of the project when I called them. The company they hired tore out my kitchen and then realized the beam they had would not support the load. I was without a kitchen or lights for at least a month, while we waited for a new beam. The project started in March and is just finishing in July. The electrician kept his phone to his ear most of the time he was on site. One day the plumber refused to come on site. Travel was often an issue most of the workers were coming from the Greensboro area a hour drive to my location. The cabinets I received had some type of sticky substance on them. My furnishings was not protected drywall dust covered everything in. Construction debris was left in the yard. It still looks like a construction site. DO NOT HIRE!!! DO NOT HIRE!!! DO NOT HIRE!! Project was support wall removal and kitchen remodel.

Would not wish this experience on anyone. Signed a contract for our home addition project and paid a deposit in August 2020 - were told the project would start in 4-6 weeks and take 8-12 weeks to complete. Work began in November 2020. Many starts and stops later, we got as far as roofing in April 2021. As of late June 2021, no further work has happened - structure is not dried in, abandoned construction site is strewn with waste and unused materials, subcontractors have not been paid. Much of the work that has actually been completed will need to be fixed. The last person at Wood that will even return our calls cannot confirm whether or not they plan to continue work on our project at all. We used HomeAdvisor because we wanted a contractor that had been vetted. This experience has been bad enough that we will not use HomeAdvisor again.

Job completed on budget. Project manager left mid-way through the job and one subcontractor struggled with his section. Michael brought in another PM who promptly took over, but couldn't quite overcome the one subcontractor. Overall looks good and would hire them again.

We paid over $30,000 in February 2021. We text and email every few weeks and ask where we are in their line of jobs? They have a new ?project manager? call. Nothing, not a single thing has been done on our entire house. We moved to JC in January and wondered why subcontractors ?promised? by Hunter, promised by Richard, promised by Cameron and now promised by a third guy never materialize? Even people we are referred TO by THEM Never CALL BACK. What?s going on? They must know that Wood Construction is a fictional company. On another site a ?review? is authored by someone who supposedly works for them. We have lost 1/3 of our ENTIRE BUDGET and now need an attorney. They took advantage of me, a disabled lady. DO NOT ?HIRE? THESE CROOKS.

I can't say enough good things about Wood Construction & Remodeling. They did an excellent, quality job on our basement bar remodel. The crew was always timely, polite, and kept their workspace clean; and our project manager, Trent, was amazing to work with! He was always available for any questions that I had and was even helpful with making design decisions. I will 100% be using Wood Construction again and recommend them to anyone! Thanks Wood Construction!

Thank you Dylan Darnule for staying on top of our project. Dylan took care of our project. He was friendly, courteous and he made sure the work was to our satisfaction. He was experienced in remodeling so he understood my concerns. Thank you again. Remodeling is stressful for the home owner(me), project managers like Dylan made the job a lot less stressful.

It has taken this company almost 1 year to build an addition! They did not connect the 2 roofs together, they just butted them together. The roofs are not even with each other. I asked them to match the new shingles to the old shingles but the color is nowhere close. They dropped the jacuzzi tub that I bought and broke it. Said they fixed it but it still is not working. They still have not completed the job and it started in July of 2020. We also had all of our sidings replaced but this company did not even order matching soffit. Work on the house continues to stop due to the company not being able to pay their employees. I had to pay the electrician out of the money I owe left on the house just to get the last of the electrical done. ...Update to this original feedback......I hires Wood Construction in July of 2020 and they still have not finished the job. I keep being told they will be here next week everything I call and no one shows up. My new addition needs the roof fixed. The new roof is not even with the lod roof. They tied the shingles in to each other but you can see they are not even plus they did not match my shingles ,(they are not even close to the same color). My room needs another ac ven because it stays hot or stays cold when it is cold. I paid to have my siding replaced and it still is not completed. Plus they said the soffit was not part of the siding job that I would have to pay extra to change that as well. I do not have any gutters, plus they left my original gutter spouts off and have not put them back on.. My room needs another step going to back porch per inspector and handrails. They left bags of trash, concrete blocs and used wood in my driveway. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

One month since the bathroom remodel from hell began and I still can't use the bathtub/shower. Have already had the sheet rock and paint redone and repaired. Now I find the tub is installed incorrectly and must be redone, essentially starting this project all over again.
Response from Wood Construction & Remodeling, LLC
"Nell, we are sorry you feel this way, HOWEVER, you DID sign the project completion form that expressly states "No additional work is to be completed by the contractor." Furthermore, before calling us and writing a bad review, you have allowed another contractor to come in and do work, which immediately voids our workmanship warranty because we cannot speak for their work. Home Advisor needs to remove this review due to a legal document being signed that states the homeowner agrees that no additional work is to be completed by the contractor."

Great experience from start to finish! My husband and I like the contemporary look and we had a hard time finding the right company to redo our upstairs bathroom until we found Wood Construction. Foundation installed incorrect location and not level, Project gets abandoned for several weeks at a time. When requesting status. Was told it is a 60-day project. Currently at 150 days and less than 40% complete. Absolutely no coordination, it is as if they never did this before. UPDATE 7/27/2021: Early June they demoed the incorrectly built frame, Director Steve Watson, said it was an embarrassment. I now have an incorrectly built foundation and still no schedule; just lies, lies, and more lies. Joe Wood must be proud. UPDATE 8/16/2021 No change still abandoned with a junk foundation and a mess almost 10 months into their 2-month project. Still, lies lie lies.

I give them one star only because there is no option for zero or negative stars. They cashed my deposit check of $19,391.40 on 20 NOV 2020. They promised a design for my small, one-room addition in a week, and construction to start the first week of January. Weeks of runaround, excuses. I finally got a totally unacceptable drawing on 9 JAN, PM met with me, could not explain anything about the drawing. More weeks of runaround, excuses. I asked for my money back after three months, got a nasty, screw-you letter from their finance officer. My lawyer wrote them a letter. Immediately, their chief construction guy came to see me 2 weeks ago, apologized, promised me a genuine plan in a week. A week ago he emailed an apology, said they are working on it. I really liked these guys who met with me--very personable, seemed professional. As a retired military myself, I trusted this outfit because they are a vet-owned company and had great reviews. Perhaps this job is beyond their capabilities--if so, they should have said they do only small projects any good handyman can do. Meanwhile, I am out an amount equal to nearly a third of my annual income, and I still do not have my studio. I will be in a couple of months--I am running out of years to wait.....Update to this rr....I give them .5 star only because there is no option for negative stars. See my earlier review below. My project still has noteven been started--they promised it would be built last January, long before the nightmare of the [redacted] virus lockdown and inflation. The four men I have met in this process were all very nice--I liked them. I do not believe they can be blamed for this mess. After three months of zero results, I asked for my deposit back and got a nasty, screw-you message from their sales guy, Josh Sanders. A letter from my lawyer last March got a little flurry of meetings (2) and paperwork, but that was it. We are now at six+ months and counting. They said they have finally pulled the permits, then had to go back for another permit. That is their problem that they have made mine. They are accusing me of making changes to the original design and/or contract. No. I am trying to get them to fulfill the damned contract. I deeply regret ever hearing of Wood Construction.
