I initially hired Fred through HomeAdvisor and was satisfied, then I hired him for a bigger job and he did not want to go through HomeAdvisor. This is when he started padding the supplies he was purchasing and adding a lot of supplies not related to my job that I was paying for. I was at my home in MN when he was doing a major rehab job on my home in FL. He would call me from FL when he was at Lowes getting supplies for payment of supplies. When I returned to FL, Fred had none of the receipts. While I still have more research to do, I have been able to verify at least three occasions he added personal items to my bill, not related to the work he was doing on my home. Fred has terrible time management skills, he left work undone, he lost one of my kitchen cabinet shelves, would not respond to my text and call messages, and would leave in the middle of the day when something else came up. Fred consistently purchased significantly more supplies than needed, told me it was my responsibility to return them, which is not possible when you dont have a receipt and admitted he has been reprimanded in the past from other homeowners for this same reason. I would not hire Fred again.
Response from Work Done Right
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion. As far as materials that weren't for her job being purchased that us a downright lie.Everything purchased as materials were used at her home. Some materials coming out of my own pocket.Homeowner expected for materials to be researched and/ or found by me along with pickup and delivery of materials and returning materials leftover for free. With no compensation for time and / or gas.Which is hrs and hrs of hauling lifting transporting etc.As far as my time management the job was done by the time frame requested and other jobs put off in order for this to happen. As far as never hiring me again thank you it wi"

Fred is an absolute find if you need anybody that does handyman work with good quality good prices and is dependable. He works very hard and put a lot of effort into what he does which is nice because you don t always see that. We were very impressed with his work ethic and quality of work and moving forward he will be our main person for any projects we have around the house.

Keep him on a very short leash! I have been buying distressed homes and flipping them my entire adult life, and hiring contractors to help me with some of the bigger projects. I am a woman who is very knowledgeable and informed about home rehabs. I initially hired Fred through HomeAdvisor (HA) for a small job and was very impressed so I kept him on for another small job and was also very satisfied, so then I decided to hire him for the big rehab project. At that point, he wanted to go directly to our cell phones instead of through HA. I returned to my summer home with the expectation that the work would be completed when I returned to FL on 10/30/20. He would call me from FL when he was at the store so I could pay for the supplies. When I returned to FL Fred had none of the receipts. My ENTIRE home was covered in 2 inches of construction dust; he had been sawing the wood in the home. I didnâ t have a clean dish or cooking pot and it took me 3 days to clean everything before I could actually live there, or cook anything to eat. He tossed all of the construction debris out of the front door and in the yard and killed a large patch of new sod. He lost one of my kitchen shelves then billed me to replace it. There was a very large amount of extra supplies that he didnâ t use. He stated it was my responsibility to return them (without any receipts mind you!) and he laughed when he told me that he has been â reprimandedâ by other homeowners and ordered to get all of the extra supplies **out of there**, so he takes them back, receives a store credit, and keeps it for himself. At the end of the job I finally tracked down all of my receipts and found at least $60 in supplies that was very questionable if he actually purchased them for my job, and/or should have been his own personal business expenses. I filed a complaint with HA. Fred never responded until HA suspended his account. Then his text messages began. Regarding the dead sod: (Fred) â Your fault because you failed to have a way of disposing of the **debree**. (Me) âYou could have put it in the driveway and not killed the new sod. Regarding questionable items on the receipts: Pepsi x2, shop vac filter, 100 cable ties, 8 orbital sanding discs. (Fred) â Shopvac filter needed to vacuum all the cr*p after tearing out [the shower] because my filter got destroyed. Sanding disks were for sanding the drywall and floor where it was uneven. Zipties were putting around wires that come through the floor so they do not fall back through the hole and doing the plumbing for the shower. Pepsi, yes I bought to drink but instead of making people wait behind me while did a whole other ring up I just got them.â (Me) You used all 100 cable ties? All 8 sanding disks for a small shower stall and one area of living room wall repair? My floors werenâ t uneven, they didnâ t need sanding. You bought the cable ties on the day I was returning to Florida, I had to pull off the highway to do the phone sale. You werenâ t done with the shower stall or floor by then? (He was as he had sent me photos). You were working on the back step on that day. (Fred) I actually used a ton of my own sh*t such as framing nails, finish nails, ZIPTIES, etc throughout the job. Ok, 100 zip ties no I did not use that many of my ownâ. Fred sent me $50 to cover the filter and the cable ties. $50 is pocket change for me and doesnâ t really matter to me, but I wanted him to be accountable for what he did since he didnâ t even acknowledge that his actions were unacceptable and unethical. His work was sufficient, but if you hire him watch him like a hawk!
