They did a GREAT job! I would unconditionally recommend their services to anyone. They cleaned up very well every day they worked on the roof (5 days). They were very thorough and did a high quality job. They were very easy to work with. The best roofer that I have ever dealt with. <br />

I was planning to put solar panels on my roof, so needed a roof inspection. I wanted to make sure my roof would last at least 10 more years. I selected several companies and A-1 Budget roofing responded promptly and had a good price. I found out that my existing roofing felt (tar paper) was worn and needed replacing, but my tile was in good shape and could be reused. <br /> First, I had my roof tile cleaned to remove algae. <br /> Then A-1 Budget roofing scheduled the work around the rain, and coordinated the installation with the solar panel company. They removed and stacked the old tile on my roof, removed the old roofing felt and replaced with two layers of 40 pound felt. They had the solar company place their brackets on the roof so they could properly seal them before they completed the re-roofing. This took several days to complete, but all was done before the rain. <br /> They also removed some very old bird nests that were tucked under the eaves, and put up bird stop to keep those birds from nesting again. They replaced some flashing as needed and some broken tile, and when they were done all of the color matched perfectly. <br /> The original bid was for $8500 and he had to check on permit fees from the city. The final invoice included the original $8500, minor costs of $64 for new fascia board, and $380 for roofing permit. <br /> My new roof is warranted for 10 years, but they told me it should last another 40 - 50 years with two layers of 40 pound felt. <br />

They were done in 2.5 days which I thought was excellent (1600 sf single story house).  Albert was very patient with me while I chose the color of shingles I wanted and got approval from the HOA.

The crew showed up exactly at the time appointed each morning, worked furiously all day long, and finished the job ahead of the scheduled completion date. We did not find any debris or nails left behind. Two of our neighbors have also used A-1 Budget Roofing with the same excellent results. Their price was almost $4,000 cheaper than several businesses we got quotes from in San Diego.

He was courteous, on time and accommodating. Provided me with contract, insurance and license paperwork (without my asking) and was there and performed the work on the date and time as promised.

Incredibly smooth the whole way with A-1 Roofing. I was the neurotic customer who questioned everything because three years ago when I hired my first big contractor, I got swindled out of $9000 extra on a $5,500 job with a mechanics lien that the contractor threw at me a month after I paid the final bill. I was very untrusting of any contractor at this point so before I hired my second one I did my homework by studying Angies List and the Better Business Bureau. I found A-1 Roofing as one of my 5 estimates that I got before getting started. A-1 was one of the top 5 on Angies List but so were a few others. What made me choose A-1 Roofing was that asked them if they would accept another roofing contractors coupon that I saw on Angies List. Without hesitation Albert Apodaca knocked $400.00 off his price which was already the lowest but he did not know that. In addition, his charge for materials & labor were the cheapest for any extra work that needed to be done that could not be seen in the estimate. I knew the roof was terribly bad and that there was going to be unseen problems so I took note of those charges in the original contract compared to the others. The roof was completely done in two days. Amazingly fast considering how bad the roof really was...see my pics and you know what I'm talking about. A-1 Roofing also did not bother to charge me anything up front. The roof was put on and I had not paid him a dime yet. I did pay him quickly after the roof was put on right smack in the middle of Christmas week too, but I held back $1,500 in order to take care my the driveway that got smashed up by a big truck. Without hesitation Albert wrote up a knew contract saying the $1500 would be paid after the driveway got fixed. About two weeks later I had a brand new driveway to go along with my brand new roof. I immediately paid A-1 Roofing and thanked them 1000 times. Great work guys! Incredible, really.

Albert came the day after I called to look at the roof and give me an estimate. He then sent me a contract (complete with copies of their insurance and licensing details) which I signed and put in the mail the next day. The cover letter on the contract said I would be contacted within 1 day of their receiving the signed contract. That didn't happen. I ended up calling them to schedule the repairs after 3 or 4 days had gone by. I was told that they would be there between 7 and 8 that morning and was pleasantly surprised when they showed up at 7:15. They immediately got to work. During the course of the repair, they discovered that my skylight (which was connected to the area they were working on) was badly cracked. They told me about it and said it would need to be replaced sometime. That had been on my to-do list so I readily agreed when they said they could go get a skylight and replace it. They called Albert so I could talk to him about it and find out about the price. While one of the workers went to get a new skylight, the other one continued working. They finished all the repairs including replacing the skylight in about 3.5 hours. When they had finished, they cleaned up and took the old skylight to dispose of. I was told that I would receive the bill in the mail, but when I hadn't received anything in over a week, I called to find out about it. I received it about three days after that. The bill was for the agreed upon amount for the repair and the cost of the new skylight. I have used this company before and feel that they do good work and charge reasonable rates. Albert is very pleasant and the two workers were very polite and professional. They might need to work a little on their responsiveness, but overall I am pleased with them and their work and have recommended them to neighbors.

Albert knows his business and was about $1,000 less that his competitors. I hired him because of his low price, his opinions as to how the job should be done, and the positive customer service reviews I read on Angie's list. I didn't know much about roofing until I interviewed 6 different roofers for this job. I still don't know much except for some basic consumer choices when shopping roofs. Don't get the 15 lb felt ( 30 lbs is far better). Insist on a transferable warranty, especially if you plan on selling. Have fire rated vents installed if you are in a fire area that require these. Albert comes across as very casual and laid back, but his job proposal convinced me better than the others that he would do the roof right at a good price. And he delivered. Albert emailed me about 3 different proposals as I changed my mind on a couple issues (from second layer to a tear off, from cheaper shingles to more expensive). It was nice that the price didn't jump tremendously with each upgrade. Once we got the final contract decided on, he agreed to come out that next week. This was important as I was having other work done that needed to be coordinated with the roofing. He had a huge crew that took about a day and a half to finish the job. There was one glitch--a vent pipe was slightly crooked after the roof was done. I called and he and a worker came out the next day and fixed it. Would that had happened if I had hired the pricier roofing companies? I don't know, but the roof looks great--I've had complements from the neighbors who plan to put on the exact same roof. If I have any complaints with the whole experience, it is only that they were only ok at cleaning up--I can find odd nails and pieces of shingles around my bushes if I really look. I would highly recommend A-1 roofing for their professionalism and high level of customer service. Albert was very easy to work with and I would hire him again.

They did a good job. They thought we had a ceiling in all our rooms and they put a hole on the roof but we did not have the ceilings so there was a hole in the room. I was not like super happy with them. Apart from it everything else was good. They came right out and fixed it.

It went very well. The workers were quick and tidy (for roofing) and the entire project took 1 and 1/2 days. They forgot to do one portion and Albert sent out his guys asap to finish it up, no questions asked. The new roof looks great and I am very happy with the attention to detail given.

We were very pleased with the service. Albert and has staff were very professional. Albert responded to my initial e-mail enquiry very quickly. Both he and his staff were very prompt in returning my phone calls and e-mails. I was very impressed that along with the proposed contract he provided copies certificates of insurance for his worker's comp and general liability carriers. He said he would do this without my having to even ask him.

They have always done good work at reasonable prices. When I ask them back to fix something, they do so without hesitation. Albert runs a good business.

Albert was a pleasure to work with. His price was not quite the lowest of the bids, but it was close, and it was clear he's been in business a long time. He submitted a thorough bid, showed he had all the right insurance and permit forms, met with us and answered all our questions. Albert's team took 2 1/2 days to do the whole job. During that time I was home, and while the job was loud, they worked hard and fast and professionally. Since I was home and listening to music on my satellite dish, they left the dish up until the last possible minute, and I had music and TV the first two days. The job they did was superb! The roof looks great, and it seems like I have a new house. There were several small followup issues, and Hymie came out the next week to take care of them. I was very particular about the issues, but Hymie stayed until everything was done to my satisfaction. My only concern was that I was billed for about $900 extra for wood that had to be replaced. While I was home for 2 days I didn't see them replacing any wood, and Albert didn't have any documentation to substantiate the replaced wood. He told me he was going to purchase a camera so he could document such work for future customers. If you are reading this you should expect him to offer you camera shots of any replaced materials. Shortly after the work was done, the first rain of the season showed a leak in a part of the roof that wasn't part of the job. As part of Hymie's followup, he fixed this leak, tested it with a hose, and Albert charged me a small amount for parts and labor.

It was a good experience. No complaints whatsoever and the price and service was good.

Went pretty well. We were a little disappointed that they should have left the place a little cleaner than they did. Offered a cash discount-that was nice. Quality of work is good. Roofers are messy.

Albert's crew came on time did the work and were very efficient. The skylight they ordered was to big so they had to order another. They came back in 10 days and installed the skylight.

They did an excellent job. They always showed up on time and did an excellent job. Their price was very good. And we got a discount because we used Angie's List.

Overall he was professional we were going to use him but we couldn't get to the point where we called him to put the roof up overall we liked him.

Albert came out right away to do an estimate. There were a couple of tiles that looked like they might fall on our deck and he sent one of his workmen out to fix it before we even contracted to do the rest of the work because it was dangerous. I got his name & number from Angie's List and didn't even call anybody else for an estimate so I don't really know if the price is comparable. He was just very easy to work with, showed up when they said they would, cleaned everything, etc. I have a one-year warranty for the work. It was a pleasure doing business with them
