A-1 Decks

My deck turned out beautiful. I would have preferred the guys would have hauled off the garbage daily instead of waiting till the last day.

They did a good job. They did bump the scheduled date back and offered to try to squeeze it in.

They were great. They gave us the bid, did the bid and did the work. It was well done. Their price was okay. They were good with responsiveness but there were some slowdowns and the weather was part of that. I think they were reasonable. Their professionalism was good.

I had chosen Chad and two other contractors from Angie's List to give me an estimate on my deck replacement. Chad's estimate was a little better than the other two plus he was the only one who included adding additional support since he believed the current supports were not sufficient. The original plan was to just replace the decking material and utilize the old support beams that appeared to be in good condition (all three contractors thought so). However, once the demolition began, the old beams were rotted and needed to be replaced. This is the part that impressed me most about Chad...he provided a very fair price to replace the support beams and redo the entire deck. He could have really increased the price at this point since the deck was now torn apart and we needed it put back together, but he didn't. He also listened well to any suggestions we had about the deck pattern. I would definitely use Chad again and recommend him to anyone.

I obtained several bids and Chad's bid was the most reasonable. We had to work through some delay based on a claim on some rotting trex that had been installed previously by a different builder. Chad was knowledgeable about the decking industry and provided advice and contacts for resolving the problems with the previously installed defective material. His company demolished the old deck, built a beautiful new one and an addition. We are very happy with the excellent quality of their work and would highly recommend them. A-1 Deck Company is responsive to customer instructions and feedback--making sure the job is done to exceed expectations.

Work was done/completed on time. Was easy to contact him by phone. When we asked whether our existing deck needed to be replaced, he examined it and told us that it should last another 20 years or more and that there was nothing for him to do; i.e., he was honest. He did a quality job, too.
