This is the third time using Tom and the company. YCCS will continue working with them because they work with our schedule, are always on time, and do the work in a professional manner and as agreed.

Extremely efficiently! Tom came and reviewed the situation and gave me a bid which I accepted. They came at the agreed upon time. I left and they finished in record time and left me a beautiful grey encapsulated floor. Then when we worked on the next part of my unit we discovered much more asbestos when I’d been told it was limited to one room. I called Tom in a panic and in just a couple days he came and encapsulated the floors. I was extremely grateful.

I was impressed with Abatement Material’s Inc. attention to detail throughout my entire home project. The contractor came out to my home to review the project, and discussed what needed to be done, why and the cost. I was told that a review of our conversation would be provided with details of the scale of work, time needed and cost within the week. To my delight, I received the project review within the period he stated along with a way to contact him if I had any questions. I accepted the proposal, and each step of the project was conveyed to be personally, along with addressing my concerns. The workmanship was above board, and the clean-up was also. It was completed timely as stated and within the budget given to me in said proposal. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking a contractor and crew who will go beyond the norm to make a satisfied customer.

I am selling my house, and the home inspector found mold. I found these people on Angie's List and came out in a timely manner. He seemed really nice, and they got it done over the weekend. They were done within about 6 hrs. We put plastic sheeting and put on protective suits and treated everything. I paid him at the end. I asked for a receipt, and he gave me an email including the proposed offer and included. I asked him for a written receipt with itemized list of the work that was done and the chemicals that were used. It was all in technical language, and I asked for company letterhead instead of an email so we can use it for verification in the sale of our home. We also got a call from our realtor and lawyer requesting for some licensing information in order to get the sale finalized. I called him multiple times because what he sent it wasn't enough to clear the sale. He would not provide anything in writing or anything about his licensing. He also didn't check any vents which were supposed to be included.

Prompt, efficient, neat, created "negative air pressure environment" and wore the white 'space suits' you would expect. Only negative is no arrangement for an air quality test was made, although I called about it afterward - but that was largely uneccesary anyway, we are happy with the results.

They were supposed to send us a manifest that the loose material was disposed of properly. They did not send us a completed manifest. We called back. We did not pay them half of the bill because of that and that makes us suspicious that they don't do what they say they are going to do with the hazardous waste and were willing to forego half of their bill.

The removal project went great. While discovering asbestos is not want a homeowner wants to do, Tom and his crew did an excellent job. He was very thorough in the estimate phase and found a small portion of exposed friable asbestos that I had not seen. Tom was extremely polite and responsive during the entire process. The crew arrived at the house when scheduled and left the basement spotless when completed. Other than the missing asbestos, you wouldn't know a work crew had been there. Air sampling was included in the estimate as well and tested free of asbestos. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to hire Abatement Materials in the future. While it's not a job you want to have to undertake, their skill and professionalism gave me peace of mind that the project would be handled appropriately.

I appreciated that they were able to schedule a Saturday time slot for the initial consult. The estimate was prepared and sent to me very soon afterwards. The work was completed in a shorter amount of time than expected (about 2-3 hours) and our basement was left very neat and tidy. A county inspector came by during the removal and said that the quality of work was above average. The pair of workers didn't both show up at the time they were expected, but while waiting, one of them prepped the area for work and even helped shovel some snow from around my house. Working with the front office on paperwork, payment, and logistics has been very efficient. We declined the independent air monitoring (would have been an extra $300) because the job was so small. A little sticker shock on the price, but then again, I'm a new homeowner--sticker shock happens a lot.

I though they gave me a wonderful price for the work. I didn't have one problem with any part of the process, and the quality of their service was great. They were very professional, and knew what they were doing.

Tom Richards was extremely professional, respectful, and polite. He personally came to provide the quote and actually participated in the job. Everything was done to our total satisfaction. During the process, paint on our garage door peeled away. Within one day of contacting Tom, his crew came back to our house and repainted the garage door. I highly recommend this company.

I called the company and a courteous, articulate and obviously well-informed employee arrived at my home the same day to prepare a quote. The estimate arrived at least one day in advance of the promised deadline. I retained the company. Once the day scheduled for work arrived, they arrived at precisely the appointed hour, completed the project in the estimated time and left.

According to their quote, they were to have removed the Vinyl Asbestos Tile, underlayment and mastic. The did not remove the mastic, which is a major issue in refinishing our floor. This adds hundreds of dollars to this job. The quote was specific to "remove" these items. Thomas, while nice enough guy, said they "encapsulated" it. Neither the mastic nor the underlayment had any asbestos, according to the test results we had. He refused to complete the job and remove the mastic.

We are very satisfied with the work. The removal of the siding was well-contained in a residential, Chicago northwest neighborhood, where the houses are five feet apart. My only concern with the removal was immediately addressed. The workers had failed to mask and tape-off the second-story windows. However, this company, upon learning that I was not completely satisfied, sent an independent testing company to test for interior asbestos fibers the next day at no expense. In light of this follow-through, I would not hesitate to recommend them.

TOM CAME TO GIVE MY WIFE AND I AN ESTIMATE BASED ON OUR PHONE CONVERSATION. A COUPLE OF THE OTHER COMPANIES WOULD ONLY GIVE US MINIMUM NUMBER ESTIMATES OVER THE PHONE BASED ON OUR DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK TO BE DONE. TOM INSISTED ON BEING PRESENT, THIS WAS APPRECIATED SINCE HE DISCOVERED ADDITIONAL AREAS FOR REMOVAL THAT WE DID NOT AT FIRST SEE. ACCEPTED ON FRI, SCHEDULED FOR MON. THE JOB TOOK LESS THAN 8 HOURS INCLUDING THE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF A FEW MORE SPOTS IN THE AREA. I HAD COMMUNICATED MY CONCERN TO TOM THE MORNING THEY ARRIVED, AND HE MADE SURE THESE EXTRA AREAS WERE INCLUDED IN THE JOB AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. THE WORKERS WERE CLEAN AND TIDY AND EVEN TOOK TIME AFTERWARDS TO EXPLAIN THE PROCESS TO ME, HIGHLIGHTING DIFFERENT SPECIFICS OF THE JOB. THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER FOR CLEAN AIR INSPECTION WAS WITH HARGROVE AND ALSO DID A COURTEOUS, CLEAN, AND THOROUGH JOB. WE RECEIVED THE CLEAN REPORT THE NEXT DAY VIA FAX, AND AGAIN A COUPLE DAYS LATER VIA MAIL.

They were very prompt, polite and thorough. I would definitely hire them again.

WORK WAS DONE PROMPTLY (<1/2 DAY) AND NEATLY.

I ORIGINALLY CALLED BRENNAN PEB FOR AN ESTIMATE, BUT THEY APPARENTLY SUB-CONTRACTED IT OUT TO ABATEMENT MATERIALS. TOM RICHARDS DID THE ESTIMATE; HE WAS PROFESSIONAL AND INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE PROCESS AND SCHEDULING, AS WELL AS DESCRIBING SOME OTHER WORK THE FIRM WAS DOING. WHEN I HAD TO DELAY THEIR WORK DATE BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM WITH MY BASEMENT DOOR (RESULTING FROM A PORCH REPAIR), THEY WERE VERY FLEXIBLE ABOUT RESCHEDULING THE WORK. THE CREW ARRIVED PROMPTLY (A BIT BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED 7 A.M.) AND WORKED THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT IN ONE 12 HOUR DAY. THE CREW CHIEF WAS FRIENDLY & PROFESSIONAL, AND KEPT ME INFORMED ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO. THEY LEFT THE BASEMENT AND YARD CLEAN - IN FACT PART OF THE BASEMENT CLEANER THAN WHEN THEY STARTED. OVERALL, VERY SATISFACTORY AND PROFESSIONAL JOB.

VERY EXPERIENCED CREW PERFORMED WORK IN TWO DAYS. THE OFFICE KEPT ME INFORMED OF ANY DELAYS IN PROCESSING THE PERMIT. TWO MINOR COMPLAINTS: THE DUMPSTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED MORE PROMPTLY, AND THE NAILS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED ALONG WITH THE SIDING. THE PRICE WAS HALF OF OTHER QUOTES, BUT IT STILL SEEMS HIGH FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT ON THE JOB.
