Mr. Farmer and his team did a FANTASTIC job! They had my roof on in a day and had the siding completed in under 3 days. Above and Beyond used high quality products for both the roof and the siding. He put on seamless gutters as well as making sure everything was clean when his crew left. He also kept me up to date and informed of his progress with text messages and photos when everything was completed. I have already recommended his company to my family, friends, and co-workers if they ever need work done on their homes. These guys were professional, polite, and completed the job on time and on budget. I needed the exterior of my home completed in 2 weeks and Above and Beyond made that happen well before my new tenants moved in. The house looks better then when I lived in it thanks to the great quality work of Above and Beyond Construction!

<p>Chester arrived on time with his crew. They had the entire area prepped and ready to pour the concrete by early afternoon. The project was completed by around 6 p.m. We were told about the curing process, such as when our dogs could walk on the new area and when the grill could be moved.</p> <p>We are very pleased with the end results and will always recommend this company to others needing concrete work.</p> <br />

<p>We called the company on a Sunday morning to see of they could do something to stop the leak in our metal roof.</p> <p>They actually answered the phone and offered to help! Mr. Farmer was at our house within the hour and found the leak right away.</p> <p>He had to climb up on the metal roof in the rain and replace a leaking screw.</p> <p>Mr. Farmer was very professional and very courteous and completed the job quickly.</p> <br />

<p>They did an excellent job. He was able to work around my schedule to give me an estimate. He provided me list of what he was going to use and the charge that of each material and encouraged me to see if I can get it cheaper if I wanted to. I did check a few stores and he had the lowest price. He did extra work without charging me extra.</p>

The work went well. They did all this work during different contracts as I was doing some of the work myself. They showed up when expected, did the work to a high quality and the estimate was right on. They even called their supplier on speaker phone with me right there so that I could hear the quote for materials. Job site was left clean and I was even sent pictures of the roof during and after the work!

Though cautioned about the weather forecast of rain, contractor scheduled work, stating that only a small section of current roof would be removed at any one time and that they would have plenty of tarps to cover if rain came.. When the thunderstorm struck, 3/4 of the house had no shingles; there was tarp to cover less than 1/4 of the house. As his crew abandoned the job site, the owner was driving to the nearest home improvement store 10 miles away to buy tarps. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Ceilings in the kitchen, dining room, entrance foyer and garage sagged or collapsed and had to be replaced, along with insulation. Four other rooms suffered rain stains in the ceiling and walls. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />From that day forward, with the profit now gone from the job, it was a struggle to get the contractor to send repair and roofing crews back to the job site. Multiple calls to the contractor produced multiple broken promises. The contractor promised on the day of the rain to make all repairs to our satisfaction; we ended up filing insurance claims and hiring repair crews to complete the home repairs. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The roofing contractor did eventually return and complete the roofing, but the work was poor quality in several locations: use of damaged shingles, shiners showing, siding that was replaced not sealed and not properly installed, drip edge missing or installed improperly were the primary defects. Again, after multiple calls to the owner, we paid for the repairs to those defects out of pocket. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />When our insurer took the contractor to court to attempt to recover claims costs, the contractor did not appear in court. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We had observed this contractor replace the roof on a neighbors home, and seemed to do a good job at a reasonable price. But the caution for anyone considering this roofing contractor, be wary is that if things go wrong, you will be in for a battle to get things corrected. <br />

"Well this job was a disaster! I mean I almost lost everything and a lot of lessons were learned. You however are stretching the truth aren't you mrs. Knox? They did not pay a single dime of labor whatsoever for their 3640.00 dollar left owed. I however within the hour had a repair man there to assess the drywall which was fixed out of my pocket, their choice painter with improvements to their home they planned to do anyway. I did a HUNDRED EXTRAS on the home to try and smooth this over only to find after all repairs had been made they in fact made a claim to their insurance anyway. You got a FREE ROOF just like your free 14000 dollar sunroom. Your nothing more than a claim jumper. After I was contacted by their adjuster was when I knew they were riding it for everything they could get! You want to talk about profits? What profit? You paid nothing!!!!!!! This will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! I had my crew walk off on me on this job and took full responsibility and I sleep fine. God bless you and yours [member name removed] family!"

I first met Mr. Allen Farmer of Above and Beyond Construction Co located in. Jacksonville, NC in June 2013 to discuss re-roofing my home. He did the preliminary things measuring the roof and checking to see what would be needed to complete the job to satisfaction. He was very courteous and professional in his presentation of how he conducts business. I was immediately impressed. He gave me an estimate of the job and me being a member of Angie's List I received a special price since my roof was within the measured size. <br /> Due to time constraints and obligations Mr. Farmer didn't complete our transaction until August13, 2013. Upon their arrival on the agreed date the crew arrived on time and did a superb job on my roof. He replaced bad woo and siding just like he said he would at no additional cost. They cleaned up and you would never know they were there except for my new roof. <br /> I have dealt with a lot of contractors over 30+ years and have had some pretty bad work done. I can say Mr. Farmer restored my <br /> faith some what in the way he and his crew conducted themselves while on my property. I would not hesitate in getting them to do other work for me. <br /> I've received a lot of compliments on my new roof. <br />

It worked out really well. It got off to a kind of a rocky start but they did a good job. They were very prompt in coming out and giving me a written estimate. They used quality materials, some really good Sherwin Williams duration paint. I contracted with them last November and they didn't do the work until June. Obviously, a large part of it was because of the winter weather. They couldn't do it during the winter. We also had a very rainy spring, so they could not get here to do the work until the last week of May. We had an issue with communication. The gentleman who was in charge of the whole project, whose name was Alan Farmer, was very professional and very courteous. He explained everything they were doing. But I did have a problem and he did not return my phone calls at the beginning. It turned out to be a voicemail issue that he had on his end. But I got pretty frustrated. Once we got on track, they had a couple of issues that delayed the work. He had some health problems. They also had another job or two that they had not finished yet. So they didn't come here and work straight through. There were some gaps in time that I found a little bit annoying but the work that they did was so good that I basically think it was worth it in the long run. <br /> <br /> I am updating my review a year later. Over time, I have noticed places where the painters didn't do an adequate job of covering the old paint, either by not applying a second coat or where they completely missed spots. They spilled paint on my roof (visible from the street) and my back porch (natural wood finish). The two wooden columns are not of good quality wood: the finish is rough and shows knotholes, and the overall effect is that it was done by an amateur. Again, not enough paint to cover the bare wood. <br /> <br /> The workmen failed to remove the decals on the inside of the large window over my porch, even though I pointed that out. I cannot reach that high up to remove them (10 feet), and it detracts from the appearance. <br /> <br /> During the work, one of the painters lost his footing and fell from the main roof onto the roof of my back porch. Not only was the man injured, but he refused my repeated requests to let me call 911. He appeared to have scraped his shin bone. Distressing for everyone, and I can only hope his injuries healed. <br /> <br /> I don't know if this company is even in business any more, but if so, I would NOT recommend them.

First things first Allen farmer is a man of his word. If he says he will do something it is done and done with high quality. I scheduled my vacation around some work that was needed to my home as he rescheduled his schedule to accomidate me. His crew was top notch and I was very impressed with their professionalism down to his laborers. <br /> They came in and stripped my roof down to the plywood and put on the exact products and brands I asked for. They were hit with some unplanned bad weather and put every member of his team to work to cover my roof so that we didn't get any water in the house in which I was amazed. The next day they were their first thing to make sure they finished the roof. <br /> They then began work on my deck that was built not so great by a different contractor and made it more stable and added some vinyl soffit and wrapped the sides with metal. I was so happy with the finished product. <br /> Then they tore out our old bay window and added us a 6ft sliding glass door which is so beautiful. They cleaned up all the trash, nails, scraps and left the yard looking as when they arrived. <br /> After Mr. Farmer was paid in full he overheard me talking about some repairs that my dad needed on his roof and stopped by there and fixed him up at no charge because he is retired and doesnt have spare money for repairs which completely made our day. <br /> I would highly recommed anyone who needs any work done please call Mr. Farmer and he will bring your dreams to life and give you what you need stress free. <br /> To Mr. Farmer thank you for everything and if there are anymore projects we need done to our home you will be the only contractor that I will save your number in my phone as I wont need anyone elses. Keep up the good work and tell your crew thank you!!! <br /> <br /> <br />

I called Allen on a Monday to discuss a leak in my roof near the chimney. He was very courteous and professional, and even though my home was 35 miles from his locatoin, he was familiar with the town and was willing to look at the property to give me a free quote. I offered to send him photos of the house to give him a better idea of the location of the leak, and type of roofing material etc. This enabled him to have a better idea of what he would need to fix the problem. Allen gave me a "ball park" quote over the phone which I felt was more than reasonable, and gave him the "go ahead" to do the work. Two days later, he arrived as schedlued and completed the work. While on site, I remembered another leak from my add-on "Carolina Room" and again, he gave me another reasonable quote. Allen was very knowledable about roofing and knew exactly what had been done (or not done) which allowed the leaks to occur. He even gave me a guarantee that my roof (the area he repaired) would "never leak again." <br />

I called Above and Beyond Construction to have them come and provide a quote to repair a leak in our roof that appeared after hurricane Sandy. We set a time and date with them to do the quote. Upon arrival and inspection of the inside of the house, they went up on the roof and inspected it and made repairs to the roof. Not only did they repair where the leak was, but also walked the entire front side of the house repairing other minor damage. Upon asking how much I owed them, they charged me absolutely nothing. This day and age, you would never expect this from anybody, especially they way the economy is and this is how they make a living. Above and Beyond Construction will be the first company I call next time for roof repairs. Thanks for the outstanding service Above and Beyond....the name says it all. <br />

I called Mr. Farmer early this morning because I realized I had a leak in my roof... I found him and his crew member very helpful. Not only did Mr. Farmer find and repair the leak, he also checked the remainder of the roof for problems. <br /> He is preparing an estimate for several outdoor jobs.. including repairing my garage roof, some demolition, and hauling. <br /> He was very thoughtful and did not charge me for the work he and Chris accomplished today. <br />

<strong>When I called Above and Beyond for an estimate to replace my aging roof, Mr. Farmer responded immediately and came out to do the estimate on the same day. He offered me a very fair price and I accepted. The first day they worked on my roof for 12 hours! They removed all the old shingles and debris and hauled it away in a timely manner. They also picked up stray nails around the house. I had some fascia that needed replacing and they threw that in for free. Another courtesy they did was to paint my front porch rails with paint they had left over from the fascia repair. That was a really nice surprise! My new roof looks great and I am very pleased with the work this company did for me. <em>I highly recommend Above and Beyond Construction.</em></strong> <br />

I just PCSed to jacksonville and was tight on money, I had recieved a few quotes that were not in my budget. I call above and beyond and spoke to alan. He came out and gave me an estimate, which made me a little nervous because how good the price was. But that was not the case he took great pride in his work and seemed more as a friend then the contractor you have to worry about. He installed the pull down step and when he found out I wanted to lay floor for storage but didnt have the money he gave me some supplies in order for me to complete it along with plenty of advice and instructions. As far as the gutters they look great and work as avertised as well alan gave me plenty of advice of how to maintain then.. Overall above Above and Beyond was not the huge chain construction company but a very freindly approachable company that I will most definitly use in the future. If you want local friendly, personable, good priced company they are it if you want a very pricy chain construction they are not it! <br />

I used Angie's List to select this contractor. The roof on my vacation home was in need of replacement. I contacted Allen Farmer of Above and Beyond in Early August. He met me at the house the next weekend to look at the roof, provide a quote. I accepted the quote and asked that he re-attach some siding that had come loose also. He agreed and provided me with a contract. I gave him $1800.00 up front agreeing to pay $1200.00 upon completion. <br /> Allen had some logistical issues to overcome before he could get started. Apparently he had to overcome some unexpected employee turnover and a job that took longer than expected. He communicated these issues to me effectively and promptly returned calls when I inquired about the start date. <br /> He did start and complete the job by Sept 12. A few weeks late. <br /> The work was performed professionally. The roof looks great. There was no debris in the yard, in fact he left things better than I left it for him, replacing a loose deck rail and generally tidying up the exterior :) <br /> I am considering having Above and Beyond do some siding work also. The overall experience was good. Allen prides himself on his reputation and works hard to maintain it. <br /> <br />

This is an outstanding company operated by a very dependable and efficient leader. Everything this company promised, they delivered on time and effectively. The crew showed up on time every day and worked very hard while they were on the job. The temperatures were in the 90's with high humidity and and at no time did this crew ease up. Even when additional, unexpected work popped-up, they took it on in stride <br /> The crew even did a couple of "extras" without being ask, i.e. painting the siding and roofing the pump house. <br /> Simply an excellent company with effective and very professional personnel. THis company will be doing all of my siding and rooofing jobs. <br />
