Mr. Yarbrough provided a contract for a bathroom remodel that included all tile work and electrical to install a steam shower in our bathroom.
I paid 50% deposit and then 2 other payments to include add on items without a promised invoice. After 5 months of requesting a final bill I received one . He had very little back up and No back up for subcontractors that I had already paid directly for my add owns.He refused to provide me with copies or to meet with me to discuss. I kept very good records.
He tried to overcharge me by over $3000.00 . I proved by way of canceled checks proof of my payments. He never acknowledged or apologized for his very poor accounting practices. Instead he ignored my proof and began bad mouthing me all over our community.
Not a professional way to do business's and very unprofessional behavior. The initial contract that was paid for the bathroom also included all cost to do our project.
His work is sub par at best and is not consistent with his extremely high pricing. I DO NOT recommend this contractor.
Response from Action TN
"We appreciate all feedback from our customers. We were shocked to see these comments after the first review this member left us back in February. This is an unfortunate situation. Original review comments from [member name removed] are as follows…. A complete Kitchen remodel.-Cabinets, floor, granite , sink and backsplash Master Bath remodel - converting a tub to a updated modern enclosed steam shower with tile and pebble flooring. Added travertine stone to 2 existing walls Completely revamped our fireplace with stone and natural reclaimed wood mantle We contacted Action TN to bid on our remodel job in our new condo. Mark Yarbrough came to our condo and was extremely professional and prompt . We found him to be extremely knowledgeable and current on today's designs. His pricing was not cheap but reasonable for the scope of work. We found him to be very customer service oriented. A trait that is not easily found these days. We knew immediately he was the contractor for our job. He introduced me to his workers and made sure that they cleaned up on a daily basis. He accepted changes and challenges on our design with an open and pleasing attitude. Most contractors that I have worked with do not accept changes very well. He was totally committed to our satisfaction in all areas. We would definitely use him again! I highly recommend Mark and his entire team at Action . You will not be disappointed. My thoughts on the situation since it has unfolded… Mrs. [member name removed] and I live in a small community and were friends She asked me to help her with a home renovation. I agreed to act as a general contractor and oversee the bathroom/steam shower part of her renovation only. On the rest of her home, I offered to let her use my employees and subcontractors. She was to supervise the job herself, pay for materials and pay my employees/subs directly. This did not work out well. I ended up doing lots of material runs, overseeing most aspects of the job requiring days of interactions with subcontractors and paying directly for some labor myself. Mrs. [member name removed] asked me to do this and assured me she would reimburse me fully. I only asked to be reimbursed for money I had spent and asked nothing for my time. After I completed the job for Mrs. [member name removed], she submitted one of the best reviews of my work that anyone has ever put on Angie’s List. I have not performed any more work for Mrs. [member name removed] since she submitted that review. She and I clearly disagreed on the amount I should have been reimbursed and when it became clear she was not going to pay me, I let her know that I would just to write it off. I thought that was the end of the matter but soon began to hear about our disagreement from people in the community where we live. I believe Mrs. [member name removed]’s discussion with our neighbors is making its way back to her. She has continued to contact me and my wife via phone, email and text, most recently threatening to change her Angie’s List review and contact the BBB. This disagreement has done irreversible damage to our friendship and there are hurt feelings on both sides. I believe that is the primary issue and I sincerely regret this situation. Mrs. [member name removed] was happy with her home renovation as was apparent by the glowing review she posted in February after the work was completed."

We look for 3 things in a contractor: 1. Show up when you say you will 2. Do quality work 3. Charge a fair price. Simple as that sounds, we had a hard time finding these in a contractor…until we found Mark and Ken Yarbrough and Action TN. They let us know when they’re coming, show up when they say they will, work a full day while here, do outstanding work, and their prices are competitive. I wish we found Action years ago. We are already planning to use them on two more projects.

I began my project with one idea and ended with something different. Much collaboration and feedback let to a better plan. Changes that were actually better for me. Mark's attention to detail is amazing. He truly aims to please!

We were very pleased with the quality and workmanship that Mark and his subcontractors provided. We had a number of customizations in our plan that made the project more challenging. Mark was very willing to accommodate those. He regularly kept us up to date on the progress of the construction and completed all of the work at the price we agreed to before beginning the project. We would definitely have Mark handle any construction projects for us in the future and highly recommend him.

We have owned two homes that Mark has built. The men he employs are clean, polite, clean up their work area, and do not leave any mess when they leave. They arrive on time and I feel comfortable to have them in my home. As Mark was our neighbor at one time, too, he is an honest & caring great guy who was a pleasure to live next door to. He will want you to be as pleased with his work as he wants himself to be & the job will show that. The final product of our home turned out so beautiful!

Work was arranged to be performed on a specific day and time, the workers were there at the agreed time and day. Roof was finished by the end of the first day. The gutter installers arrived 2 days later at the exact day and time of our agreements and finished the job the same day. The window screens were repaired by the company and it was a perfect job. Area was left clean and job was done as agreed.
