I asked for a light socket as well and never got that installed. It took him two hours to put in one light. I would not use them again.

Shortly after starting the job, Barry, asked for considerably more money down to complete job, which was not agreed upon. Since he indicated he would not come back to complete the job unless I advanced more money, greatly concerned me. He called me back and I asked him what he needed to complete the job. He mentioned an additional $1000 more for trenching, etc. Insurance company agreed to send me an additional $1,000 above his proposal price, Barry asked me for my email address so he can forward the new proposal amount which I gave him. On Friday, March 4th I paid him $2,333 after trenching/repair of wiring in conduit to one tree light and boathouse.. At this point, communication went downhill so I had decided to eliminate the last job to be done in the amount of $1124 leaving a balance due him of $759, He indicated he would come back to check anything not yet done, etc. Unbeknownst to me, 2 emails were sent early on Monday, March 7th that he would be at my home at 10:30 AM (at which time he showed up at my home) and not aware of this appt., I had asked him to come back in a few hours since I am my husband's caretaker and was in the process of showering/shaving him, etc. He indicated he would be back the following weekend for we expected heavy rains for the next few days. Well, the 2nd email again sent that morning (which I also had not seen) indicated he would be back in a few hours and was going to place a lien on my property for $934 remaining balance which amount was actually $759 if I did not pay him. Contractors, etc., that I worked with before never emailed appt. times to me. All appointments have been communicated by phone so that the time is agreeable to both parties. I would like to say his helpers/workers were very accommodating and professional.

UPDATE 4/5/2016
In regards to the response the provider left. This information is not true. He agreed to work with my insurance company for the price proposal. The insurance company accommodated him by providing more finances after the agreement was made. Also, in regards to the lights I asked to be installed, this was not wanted for free. I bought the supplies and he wanted charge me $585 to install 3 motion sensor LED lights on the outside of the home. I declined this because this was a bit excessive seeing that I had bought the parts. I had hired someone else who did the work for substantially less than his quote.
Response from Activate Electric
"Activate Electric agreed to accept the job for 50% less than original proposal because Mrs. [Removed Member Name] ' insurance wanted the price lowered and because Mrs. [Member Name Removed] wanted Activate Electric to do the job. Activate Electric found that an additional 1000.00 was needed for trenching work/cost. We worked around Mrs. [Removed Member Name] ' schedule usually not starting until 11:00. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] wanted additional lights installed for no extra charge outside. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] also had lights installed inside the house then was not happy with their brightness. Communication by email is a standard practice and allows for documentation. Activate Electric made numerous weekend trips to address minor issues Mrs. [Removed Member Name] ' complained about."

We bought a deal from Angie's List; he came out on time and looked at what was mainly a variety of lighting issues.

He did a great job in testing and then showing us the issues and giving us the options.

He had to go to the store for some parts and we asked if he would pick up some LED bulbs (which he had told us about) so he basically did some shopping for us too.

Very professional service while at the same time being personable.

We would both recommend him to others and use him again ourselves.

Barry did our work and more for a great price. He was easy to communicate with, flexible on our schedule, and did fantastic clean work. We will be using him again to do some other work for us. I highly suggest.

A few examples include complete wiring of a weld shop that I built for fabrication. They sat down with me and we discussed any ideas I had and then they made suggestions using their extensive experience to help me get what would function the way it should be. They got to work and finished the job in what I considered amazing time at a very fair price. Along the job there were some changes that became aware about functionality and they adapted like nothing was a problem and gave me complete satisfaction. The shop has been used now for maybe 8 years with no trouble whatsoever and I have comfort to know it was wired to be safe and everything that was done was assured to have the right size wire, switches, plugs and breakers.

Another example of a few smaller jobs was one where a circuit of plugs stopped working in one home bedroom. Barry and his crew started the trouble shoot in the attic and worked their way down to the bedroom itself. They then diligently checked each plug along the circuit and finally found where a wire had shorted and was no longer making contact. Unfortunately, the day before I was changing some plugs hot and had shorted out a plug with my screwdriver. Even though that plug kept working it had caused the short in the plug down line. It turned out to be my fault but they knew how to check other places.

A recent job on a rental property was having intermittent power problems in an all electric home. The problem was so random it did not provide much evidence of any failure. Again Barry and his crew went to work like robots checking every step of the way plugs, switches. connections, and then breakers. Finally, they found a breaker was weak so not tripping and had broken off inside the rail in the breaker box. They got a new breaker and in style saved me money by re-routing the breaker to another open slot in the breaker box.

Just know Activate Electric, Barry Crouch and his team are ready to save you money, do a thorough safe job in as short of time possible and if you can't smile once they are done and paying them for the great work they do let them know what is wrong and they will do anything possible to make you happy. Trust me, I am just a customer and not paid for this and have no family or professional connection with their company, they are just a pleasure to deal with.

Barry is the owner and was recommended by a realtor in the neighborhood. When I contacted him, he was very responsive and professional. He went above and beyond to ensure the job was done properly and that the parts were correct. I would definitely use him again - very reasonable pricing and you can tell he takes pride in his work! :)
