I have used Adam Alan before for painting the exterior of my large home and was so satisfied I hired him for some interior work. Each of the rooms had either water marks or pealing paint due to moisture. Each problem area was carefully corrected followed by two coats of paint. His company arrives promptly, covers fixtures and floors, and cleans up. In the case of one bathroom the paint company mixed the wrong color of paint and Alan Adam worked with the paint company to correct their mistake and then repainted the bath for me. He is an expert on paints and paint colors and is a pleasure to work with as his lead painter, Chris.

Made contact with Adam Alan painting and within a day the owner was out to survey the job. He assessed the condition of the stucco and noted that the prior paint job had failed because the moisture was being absorbed into the exposed stucco. Even though the prior paint job utilized an elastomeric paint (known for blocking moisture), the surface had not been adequately prepared and the paint had failed prematurely.
The owner explained the process his team would use and the details of his agreements and warranty. I was not in a rush for the job to complete as I preferred the job to be done right rather than fast. The project took the better part of 3 months but the end result was well worth the wait. The holidays and cold weather did slow the progress. There were times where I felt the job had had stalled when days of good weather passed by with no work going on. But my primary objective was a good end product not a fast one.
The surface prep required pressure washing, sanding and more pressure washing. We have a pool in the back yard and they went so far as to cover the pool with plastic sheeting to keep the bulk of the paint dust out of the pool. Nice attention to details. His crew took lots of precautions to ensure the shrubs and driveway were well cared for during the project. There was some iron work that needed prep and painting. That went well too.
The owner made trips to the jobsite along the way and was very concerned with my satisfaction. I received a number of calls making sure I was pleased with the work. We talked through any concerns or questions I had along the way. There were a couple of times where they ran into unexpected challenges with the surface preparation requiring more time and effort. I was pleasantly surprised when the owner made no attempt to add charges to address the unforseen issues.
I was pleased with the price, and the end result. The paint job included a warranty. I highly recommend Adam Alan Painting.

I could not be more pleased at this point. Work began on schedule. Ray, the owner, monitors the project daily. His expertise in the knowledge of paints and their application to wood has been important to this project. The on-site manager, Chris, and his crew promptly arrive everyday at 7:00 a.m. and work until 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. Everyone works hard, is courteous, professional, and leaves the premises clean. During the sanding process, a bed and breakfast owner next door asked if they could begin after 8:30 a.m. so his guests could sleep. Chris and his crew were able to accommodate that request, beginning sanding at 9:00 a.m. Once the project is completed, I'll add another post.

My parents hired him. They met him at the house. They told him what they wanted. He painted the garage the color they requested but painted the doors white and my mother wanted the doors a cream color. But overall he did an excellent job without supervision. The garage looks beautiful again. My parents highly recommend him.

The lead paint removal was completed on time, but the repainting of our single story 1,800 square foot home stretched out over weeks. Adam Alan was very responsive, and worked hard to make sure that the paint colors matched our expectations. Painters were skilled and courteous, but less professional than I would have liked - at one point I found an entire family (women and several small children) lounging and playing in our yard, apparently waiting for one of the painters to finish. Within a year we found very significant mildew growth on the trim. Adam Alan agreed that it was unusual and attributed it to a formula change by the manufacturer of the primer paint that was used on the trim. He offered to clean and then repaint at no expense to us. We asked for, and received, a demonstration of the cleaning techniques to be used, but only after Adam Alan failed to show up or call to reschedule three appointments. After two more missed appointments, the cleaning and repainting was eventually finished in early October 2010. At this writing (December 2010) the mildew problem has not returned.

"We were called to do this job 4 years ago. When we painted the original job, the homeowners were pleased. The mildew was from the oil based primer we used. Oil based primers are made from Lin Seed Oil which can cause mildew when it is paired with moister and shade and New Orleans is a very moist environment. Since the issue, we scheduled a meeting with the homeowner and the paint manufacturer at the homeowners home. Due to her busy schedule, she could not show up for this appointment. We found that the industry now has a latex primer (based on recommendations from the paint manufacturer) which fights mildew when the job is done correctly. We would like to note that the we did repaint the members home at a cost of our business because we felt that was the correct thing to do. We used top of the line exterior paint and primer- the cost was $53 per gallon for the primer and $70 Per Gallon for the paint and that is not including labor or power washing. We take every job very personally and strive to be the best at what we do. Please refer to our other reports for a more accurate picture of our work and the service you will receive."

We have a Queen Anne Victorian house uptown which had not painted in a long time. We were delighted to meet Mr. Kannish of Adam Allan who was the contractor. Mr. Kannish was knowledgeable, passionate and extremely dedicated. He guided us through the process of painting, describing the properties of paint and which he would use in different areas of our house. He also pointed out architectural details and ways to make them prominent. He was always on site with his crew and available to answer any questions and also to discuss new ideas that he envisioned during the course of the work. His enthusiasm was shared by his crew who were very hardworking with no lull in energy. They were determined to do the best job possible and were flexible so that they could meet any demands of the job. In our case, our next door neighbor had left town and rented his house out to a film crew who worked at night which made accessibility to that side of the house a challenge given our close proximity and their need for privacy. The painters were diligent in being as quiet as possible not to disturb the tenants next door--working with no radios and not speaking loudly. They also adjusted the work schedule to accommodate accessibility schedules given by the tenants. Our painters were pretty amazing and we were very grateful for their wonderful work. Mr. Kannish provided everything in the contract and more!
