When I reported the sewage leak to my insurance company, I asked for some companies they recommended. I told them I would check with Angie's List and if one of them received excellent reviews I would use one of those companies. Adams Emergency One fit that criteria. I called and Jerry Theroux, the owner, came over and looked at the mess that was the basement. There was a lot of stuff belonging to four generations of family members, most of whom are no longer alive. I had a lot of emotional attachment to the vast majority of what it would be necessary to remove and dump. Jerry was amazing. He understood how difficult the whole situation was for me and spoke slowly and softly, making sure I was with him as he explained what needed to be done. It helped me to begin the process of detaching from the objects and look instead at the blessing of having the decision to get rid of those objects made for me. I felt comforted and protected. What was going too need to be done was still overwhelming for me, but I resolved to make things as easy for the workers as possible. To me that meant that i would allow almost everything to be tossed with as little interference from me as possible. Jerry told me I should be there as they tossed stuff into the skiff to approve everything and take pictures for the insurance.
The three workers arrived Monday morning and were the same workers who were here for the rest of the week. They always arrived on time and worked almost continuously until lunch, and then again for a couple of hours after lunch. Louis was in charge and did most of the work in the basement. Austin trucked things up from the basement, and Al handled packing the skiff. This all happened on extremely hot and humid days which made the work that much worse. There were even a couple of brief downpours. The three men were unfailingly respectful, kind, and solicitous at all times. They were the definition of professional. They worried about how I was doing emotionally as well as physically from being in the constant sun and heat. They felt more like family than strangers, and considering the horrors that they were dealing with, absolutely wonderful. If something came up that seemed to have some value they always asked if I wanted to photograph the item. They showed me any boxes that came up and put them to the side if I wanted to go through them. Almost four skiffs were taken to the dump.
Once the items were removed, the entire wall where the sewer and drainpipes were located was removed as well as the bottom half of several other walls. There was a very intricate built in bar that was here when my family bought the house in 1956, as well as a wooden platform in the laundry area that also had to be disassembled and removed. They power-washed and sanitized everything and left dehumidifiers running for several days and nights. Some of the work had to be redone after the plumbers removed and replaced the sewer and drain pipes. Everything was cleaned up inside and outside when they were finished.
Jerry stopped by a couple of times to check on things and take pictures of the progress for the insurance company. He always made sure to check and see if I was satisfied and how i was doing personally. He guaranteed me that i would be thrilled when they were done. I was.
The whole situation was extremely stressful, but working with Adams Emergency One made it as easy as it could be. I am grateful to the insurance for recommending them and especially to Jerry, Louis, Al, and Austin who went out of their way to make their part of the process as painless as possible. I hope I never have need of their services again, but I would absolutely call them again if I did.
My 23 yr old washer decided to flood my family room and fully carpeted basement bedroom on 5/12/14. My insurance company contacted Adams Emergency One and paid the bill . The company staff were kind, courteous and humerous as they toiled away. Nothing was broken , they moved very heavy furniture and made sure there was no mold when they finished, 5 days later,. Hopefully I will never need their help again but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
Adams did a fairly good job. The only bad thing was that the windows were not washed but otherwise we were pretty happy with the job that they did.

They used industrial dehumidifiers and fans to dry out the area and prevent mold. They left the machines there for several days, and thoroughly checked to make sure all ceilings and walls were 100% dry. Jerry and crew did a fantastic job.

This company is incredible! First, when I called for an estimate, the owner of the company, Jerry, came out to do it himself. For a fairly decent sized company nowadays, that alone is impressive. He is SUCH a nice guy, and genuinely wants to help you in a fair and honest manner. He gave me a quote which was more than reasonable for the amount of work that needed to be done, and had a crew out a few days after. The crew, Lou and Paul, were thorough, hardworking, and thoughtful, letting me know what they were doing and how they were doing it. The results were absolutely amazing. I give my full endorsement to this company. Go with this company for any disaster service... you'll have piece of mind and won't be let down!!
