Adelphia Moving

Trying to get a hold of them to schedule the move and confirm some details was next to impossible. I had to call several times, couldn't get the person I needed, and they never called back. Luckily we were able to confirm details at basically the last minute. They showed up over an hour late with no call to let us know. We had used them in the past and knew they weren't top notch movers but for the price and what we needed it was good enough. They were even later this time than last which was very frustrating. During the move we lost my husband's power drill (we think they may have thought it was theirs but when we called them about it after they dismissed it) and we can't find a few other pieces (suitcase, etc) that we aren't sure how those could have been misplaced. They also tried to replace shelves on a shelving unit we have (we have 2 with slightly different sized boards) and when it didn't fit they just slammed it in. Now I can't get it out without breaking it more so its just an awkward, unlevel shelf. I called them about all of this and they kind of blew me off. I knew when we hired them the second time they weren't the best but they were cheap and we more or less knew what to expect. Overall even when we had to replace the things they were still less expensive (and had more flexible availability) than other companies. We knew what we were getting ourselves into and knew it was worth the savings. For this reason I would likely hire them again (also very well knowing what I was getting myself into) but be very aware of how the day went. The men were very nice and polite while there.

Communication was unbelievably poor, I was promised phone calls back and never received them, I had to call multiple times, half the time no one answered, the other time the person I needed wasn't available and was told he'd call back but never did. I had used them in the past and did not require multiple phone calls to set everything up but we had more questions this time around. The price was by far the cheapest around and we had an overall good experience last time (other than they were 45-60 min late) and thought we'd use them again. However, this time, they were 1.5 hours late (had a good reason when they arrived but never called with a heads up and when I called them no one answered), some of our personal tools went missing (drill charger, battery, etc, we think they may have assumed they were theirs), and they didn't assemble some shelving properly so while it is still functional the pieces are no longer intact. As I said, the price was about$50-100/hr cheaper than other companies I looked at and we had used them in the past, but after this second move I likely would not use them again.

It went very well, excellent customer service, they showed up on time, and completed the job early. They were very professional.

The team arrived on time, moved the piano (involving a few stairs) and delivered it flawlessly.

It started off bumpy because it was a bigger move than they expected but they hustled and got it done without any complaints.

They arrived at 9:45 and were ready to start. Ray and Rich were professional, personable and efficient. They checked their app with us before they left to see if the destination time seemed right. They unpacked everything just as smoothly as they loaded it. I would recommend this to others.

The move went very well. They showed up on time, communicated well, and they job went quickly.

They were a little late, but got immediately to work and had everything packed in a couple hours. They took our belongings right over and began unpacking. It was difficult to watch everything they were doing, because they were quite fast. When I got to the bedroom, I saw they had the bed together but had put a long scratch and a deep gouge in my new hardwood floors. They hadn't used padding when putting together the metal frame. When I pointed it out, they looked sufficiently remorse, and offered to send their boss out to put filler in the gouge. That never happened. I asked my floor person to fix it when he came to get paid and he was nice enough to fill in the gouge, but said there wasn't much he could do for the scratch itself. I still see it every time I go in the room. They also put a few other little scratches in the floor that were probably only noticible to me because the floors were brand new. So, despite the scratches in my floor, I did give them a nice tip because they were efficient and I had no breakage of any of my items. They are good workers, but my only warning is for you to watch that they use padding for your hardwoods and are careful with your walls.

It was good and smooth. I paid more because I didn’t realize that they charge for the 1st hour is the traveling to come to the place that they charged the first hour already so we had to add 1 more hour for the moving so that what we paid for extra. I didn’t know that the 1st hour they charged for that traveling time but the service is great but they should be clear upfront because we didn’t realize. They should be upfront because I don’t know most people won’t mind and I don’t mind actually but we didn’t know until they showed up and we were thinking why they didn’t say it from the start.

It went really well overall. One thing you need to know, and I wasn't told until the day we moved, is that the $800 for 8 hours includes 1 hour of travel time. So they count a half hour for the movers to get to you, and a half hour for the movers to get home. So you really only get 7 hours of moving time. This is something that should have been explained when I booked, and it wasn't. Then each additional hour is $110. Having said that, the 3 movers we had did an excellent job. They were really hard workers, and didn't stop. They were also very nice and friendly. Also, if they damage something there is no coverage, apparently. One of the movers slipped and fell and put a pretty big gouge in our dining room table. We needed them for 2 extra house (total of 9 moving hours), so it was $220 more.

The guys were great

Fantastic. They showed up on time, were pleasant throughtout, and worked very hard. They were able to get a huge treadmill out a tricky staircase, and the were very thorough. The gentleman were all smaller of stature, so I was a tiny bit concerned, but unnecessarily so. Most other companies were quoting me from $1000-$2100 for this move, but they got it done for $800 all in via an Angie's List deal, and even finished an hour earlier than expected. Communication with the office at the beginning was a bit lacking, emails were very short and less than informative, but overall I was very, very pleased.

I found Adelphia on Angie's List and, in addition to great reviews, they had the best price. They are very straightforward in their pricing....labor and travel time with no extra costs and insurance was included. I received a confirmation phone call the night before. Vinnie, Bill and Tom V. showed up on time and provided great service. They were efficient, thorough and professional but were also funny and enjoyable to be around. We were very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this company.

I ended up going with Adelphia because they were open on a Sunday and were very nice and accommodating on the phone.  I thought the price sounded reasonable and they had all A reviews so I was pretty happy. When they called the day before to confirm they only THEN mentioned a 1 hour travel fee (of $110, mind you), but what was I supposed to do? I was moving the next day and didn't have time to book anyone else. They showed up almost an hour late but that was OK because we still were in the frantic throws of trying to organize things. I had mentioned the angies list deal and they were going to honor the price without me actuallly having purchased the deal ahead of time. I wish I had done so because it wasn't until AFTER the move and all the banks were closed they mentioned paying with a credit card added a 4% additional charge to the total. If had purchased the deal online it would have saved $32. At the end of the day, that isn't a huge amount compared to what you are spending but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. <br /> They really were wonderful, we had SO many old pieces of furniture and everything got transported without any problems or damage which was a huge relief. The guys were very polite and never complained about any of our requests even when we changed our minds about the (heavy) furniture placement a few times.  <br /> Even after the surprise hour travel charge and 4% credit card charge I still thought the price was extremely fair; I just wish they would have mentioned it up front so I wouldn't feel so blind sighted. I would definitely use them again and I would definitely recommend them to someone with no hesitation, just let them know the fees ahead of time. <br />
