We put down a deposit in April with a target completion date of end of the summer. There was a lot of rain and our date was pushed back. I understand some push back, but when in December there was no start and communication had all but stopped, we go suspicious. Kenny would not return phone calls for many weeks, we had two start dates when no one showed up. We asked for the deposit back and he said no. Luckily, we had paid the deposit with a credit card and even though it was after their typical 90 day fraud policy, with proof of no communication and other incidents where Kenny did not hold to his end of the contract, they refunded our deposit with any interest we would have been charged. We got lucky... best for everyone to just avoid Kenny and his questionable business practices.

The initial experience with ALS was positive. The primary reason I selected ALS was their "guarantee. They did a significant amount of drainage work in my yard and even came back for some additional work when the initial attempt didn't fix the issue. ". My issues arose 1 - 1/2 years later when water started pooling in the back yard in a way it never had previously. Because ALS knew where $14k of existing drainage had been installed, I attempted to contact them to review the issue. After leaving many voice mails, sending emails through their site and and old email address I had for Kenny, I had almost given up when I tried one more time and Laura answered the phone. She made an appointment for someone to stop by that week and they never showed up. I tried reaching them several times after and no response. I am now moving on with another company that believes the source of the water is in fact the drainage that was installed by ALS leaking out into the yard before it reaches the exit point. What upsets me is that I am convinced that ALS purposefully avoided my calls assuming that I would hold them to their "guarantee" and expect free labor. I would have had no issue paying for additional work. I just wanted someone familiar with the existing drainage to be involved, even if it was just meeting with the new company to explain what had been done. I would not recommend this company to anyone. At this point, the work will proceed with another landscaper. If they find that it is in fact due to improper work by ALS, I have half a mind to take them to task on the guarantee legally simply to force them to stop offering this as part of their pitch. Not because it's useless, but because once you have paid, they disappear for fear you may use it. I would rather have someone I can count on using again.

First of all took over six months to get started on the project. The first two start dates we were given, no one from <br /> Advanced showed up or call. In hind sight we should have gotten our money back. <br /> Steps and Eagle Bay pavers were improperly installed. We had a representative from Eagle Bay come out and he confirmed the poor installation in a written letter. <br /> Iron hand railings are still not supported to lower step. <br /> Very sloppy curbstone work and water ponding on two areas of walkway. <br /> <br /> The excavating and grading of the yard left hundreds of roots protruding through the ground throughout the yard. This caused another unsafe condition. <br /> <br /> No lime or fertilizer was put down. <br /> We have many pictures, video and emails. We already have a lawyer and are taking this to court. <br /> Finally when they came out to do the repairs the foreman on the job told us we had unrealistic expectations and the workmanship on all the sloppy mortar between curbstones was acceptable. After this he called Kenny and was told to leave and not finish any repairs. After talking to the owner Kenny, he said "He was not coming back and to "Do What You Have To Do" <br />

We entered into a contract with Advanced Landscaping Solutions in February with a start date of April 15 to install a patio, retaining wall, sidewalk, fireplace and landscaping. We had to release Advanced Landscaping Solutions from their contract on August 11, 2015 due to non-performance, lack of communication, and failing to stick to the schedule. We were originally told the work would start in April. The start date kept moving back until June, when work finally began. Kenny Estes, the owner, had told us it would take three weeks to complete the project and that all available resources would be used on our project. Subsequent similar promises were made during the project but there were very few productive days. Additional information that added to our frustration: I was told the employees would NEVER be pulled from our job until it was finished. That was totally inaccurate! We were informed on separate occasions that the workers were in Amelia or in Hanover and one day they came to pick up something and when I asked "Where are you all going?" the response was " to do a trashcan container unit and small sidewalk". We signed this contract with them February 16th, 2015. They started in early June. It was to take 3 weeks to complete this job. The original contract was for a total of $38,500. We paid them $28,250.00 in three installments. Subsequent to them being released, we retained another company to finish the project at a cost of $12,500. which did not include any landscaping. Some of that additional cost was to correct poor workmanship by Advanced, including replacement of cracked and miscut pavers, repositioning of the fireplace and repositioning the retaining wall. Therefore, our entire cost was $40,750 just for the patio, retaining wall and fireplace. The budget for the landscaping as stated in the contract was originally $4,800 but that budget increased by $500 because there was $500 in demolition work included in the original estimate that was not needed. Estes said he would apply that money to the landscaping budget. We estimate that Advanced Landscape Solutions completed $20,700 worth of work ($38,500 for the original contract minus $12,500 to complete the project minus $5,300 for the landscaping). I do have videos to document my grievances which I would be happy to share. <br />

Contracted to be done in March. Not begun until late April. I was told the job would be done in 2 days. They were on the property for over a week. Tried numerous times to contact Kenny with no success. Only thing they were quick and responsive on was collecting payment. Many excuses why late to start and poor communication. boiled down to there time was more important than mine in their opinion. Outcome was a good job. However, I have no confidence it would have been completed as expected without my direct supervision. Overall, not professional and VERY poor communication. Good work and outcome but I spent far too much time deriving communication from Kenny and the office staff. All I wanted was to be told, honestly, the time line and communicated with in a timely manner. Suspending work for a day without communication and leaving me waiting for a day looking for crew should not be acceptable. <br />

Broke my mailbox, damaged a gutter downspot, almost dropped a tree on my House, dug the parking pad 1.5ft below grade. <br /> They spent alot of time on the tree, then became argumentative at the end of the job. Kenny is first joke!!! <br />

Except for a small scheduling issue the estimate and job went very smoothly. Phones were answered promptly in the office and Kenny showed up as scheduled for the estimate. Since we were anxious to get the job done, he was able to work us into his schedule before Christmas even though the normal lead time was 4-6 weeks. The only issue is that they showed up without notice to perform the work. I expected to be notified before they came out so that i could be present. Despite this small inconvenience, the work was performed to our satisfaction and so far my drainage issues are a thing of the past. Kenny was most knowledgeable on drainage issues and also provided us with an alternative if the dry wells did not take care of the problem.

<p>Kenny Estes provided a mock up design of the proposed addition - patio, fire pit, planters, walk, and steps to show us what it would look like in concept. He had software where he took the "as is" and was able to digitally add in what the his proposal would look like. He also provided estimates on the cost and timing to address the sagging of my existing patio, due to subsidence. His crew worked well and made changes to suit my wife on the new additions around the fire pit and planters. They performed the work in a timely manner and showed up when promised. The new addition looks very good and Advanced Landscape Solutions did a good job repairing the issues with my existing patio, pavers, and planters.</p> <p>I waited before providing feedback to Angie's List as I wanted to see how the work looked after time had elapsed. Advanced Landscape Solutions did a good job and I would use them again.</p>

The estimate was honored but some of the work was disputed and promptly fixed to my satisfaction. Get the estimate in writing. If there are multiple tasks, get the estimate for each task rather than just a total cost for all work estimated. Take pictures and have a second on the ground review with the estimate to ensure that you and ALS have the same understanding of the work to accomplish.

They were very nice. The guy was very knowledgeable. The people that worked with him looked at everything to make sure that nothing was leaking. They saw the yard was wet, but they didn't know if it was just from all the rain, but he blew it out and he said that if there are issues with it in the spring or if we need to turn it back on, we'll call them and they'll come back.

After getting in touch witn Advanced Landscape Solutions, Kenny came out and described what needed to be done for our darinage issues and gave us an estimate. We asked that it be done by a certain date which it was. There crew was very professional and at times there was at lest 8 workers on the job. They went beyone what was originally planned, such as adding an extra french drain and mulching the front of the house. <br /> We have nothing but praise for this company, when they left everything was neat and tidy and looked great. I would recommend to anybody and would not hesitate to use them again. <br />

I commissioned Advance Landscape Solutions to create a design that would refresh the look of our front yard and increase curb appeal. I eventually received a design that I was happy with but during the process of multiple design iterations I experienced the following. <br /> <ul> <ul> <li></li> <li>Lack of professionalism</li> <li>Inattention to detail</li> <li>Poor customer service</li> <li>Poor communication </li> <li>Inability to deliver on promises</li> <li></li> </ul> <li></li> </ul> <br /> For these reasons I did not contract Advance Landscape Solutions to implement their design on my home. <br /> <br />

"I wanted to take my time on responding to this simply so that I could make sure that I did have all my information correct. I was quite concerned after reading this as it seemed that all was great until we reached the pricing portion of this project. After looking through emails and renders of your design, I found that there was at least 25 emails back and forth on designs and pricing, along with more than 15 different renders of designs reworked for you. The cost of this job was originally $9001.75 and we were able to keep "most" of the original work desired and still get the total contract down to $4,576.75 by making some minor adjustments. We are sorry we could not come to an agreement on cost and this working relationship turned so sour to get such a poor review. We do know after being in business for so long, that we cannot please everyone all of the time. Again I apologize for not being able to meet the same desired goal for both of us."

This is our third job with ALS and they continue to amaze me with their work designs. They are fabulous. Kenny and his crew arrive when they say they are coming and arrive each workday by 8:00 A.M. Margaret in the office is wonderful to work with and calls to make sure everything is progressing as it should. This time we had our original large stepping stones replaced with pavers with a new layout for the two sidewalks. Kenny sent us several options and we discussed and changed a few items and then the new design was emailed to us. He then sent out color choices of pavers for us to choose from. His crew is efficient and hard working and cleaned up the area when they completed the project. We definitely would recommend ALS and have asked for business cards to pass out to friends who might need their services. THANKS Kenny and your team!!

We needed the front beds to be graded so rain would run off away from the house. We wanted a driveway, new walkway and new shrubs. We interviewed several companies from Angie's List. Kenny Estes arrived punctually at our house and spent a great deal of time in understanding what we needed. He explained we would probably need a retaining wall due to he slope of ground. He suggested we might like pavers for the walkway and left some brochures with us. He also indicated we would need some french drains to improve drainage around the foundation of the house. He took measurements and provided a photo shopped picture of our house with his ideas right then. He said he would work up a proposal and get back to us. After receiving the proposal we went back and forth a few times to nail down exactly what we wanted/expected and what he could do for us within our budget. We wanted as many details in the proposal before we could sign off on the work. Kenny was very clear that the driveway would be subcontracted. We appreciated his honesty. We signed and they went to work. Everything went as smooth as could be expected for such a job and spanned over several weeks. The walkway with the pavers was beautiful! The retaining wall was very nice, as was the driveway. There was confusion over plants we'd selected but they made it right! We were happy with the overall result. <br /> There was an issue with some plants that did not do well right after planting and they suggested waiting until spring to have them replaced because it was too late for them to survive the winter. We felt comfortable enough with that suggestion that we agreed. We doubt there will be any problem with them living up to that promise. We would have given them an A across the board but there were issues related to the price where we were given a quote and when we asked if they could come in at our budget we were told they could (excluding the retaining wall; we knew that would be extra if needed). After they began the job, when asked about the plantings around the mailbox discussed during the initial consultation, they said to come in at budget they had to eliminate that. It was our oversight not to have that included in the proposal we signed. A small issue, but it was disappointing. <br /> If you are considering this company, you will be happy with the results! <br /> <br /> Follow up: 6/21/13: Unfortunately when I contacted them May 3rd, 2013 regarding the replacement of the plants that didn't make it, they advised that the plants could not be found but they would continue to look and let me know. Since we haven't heard back and it is too late in the season for new plantings to establish roots, I've contacted them today to let them know that I want them replaced this Sept/Oct.. I'll keep you posted!

Book this company in advance because they are very busy. It took almost a month from the time we paid until they came out. My husband and I were a little worried due to winter approaching. It was also a pain because the leaves kept falling from the trees we wanted taken out. However, it was well worth the wait. ALS does a great job. You won't be disappointed. Thank you. <br />
