Marty is great to work with, very congenial and up front. The downside is that he has a large backlog and his work is very weather dependent, so his schedule constantly slips. My job was probably a month behind the original target date, but I was also not in a hurry. Once they started, the job was done quickly and completely. His workers were courteous and very willing to work around whatever I had going on. My only complaint is that some of the things we discussed were not spelled out in the quote (my fault) and not done....I think more because it was a long time between the quote and the job than any malice on Marty's part. They were not large items and nothing I couldn't live without, so I have not even asked him to come back. Overall, I was very happy with the job and would definitely use him again. <br />

"This customer purchased and Angie's List Business for 100 square feet of concrete for $399 when I stop by to give the estimate for a foster child to use to access the front yard after measuring the distance it was 169 square feet I charged for the concrete only and nothing more I think even if I had given it to her for free she still would not have been happy"

The work seems fine. I don't have any real complaints about the work. I have a question about how the crack lines are cut in them, as they are different from the others around. I am not displeased with the work. I am not displeased with the crew. I am displeased when he damaged some of my siding and said he would be able to fix it and was going to send a siding provider out. He also said he would drop off a 5 gallon sealer that he highly recommends, which he never did. I have not been able to talk to him for a few weeks now. He has not returned my voicemail's, text messages, and it's really starting to bother me. <br /> <br /> <br /> As of 12/3/15 Affordable initially said he would fix my siding. I had Angie's List intervene and he still will not do the work. He does not return my calls nor my emails. I recommend make sure ALL work is done BEFORE you pay him.

"As the customer stated he is not displeased with the job or crew , he is unhappy that we bent a 1 inch piece of corner trim on the house, which was not intentionally done , when breaking concrete up it sometimes buckets and it happened, I offered to have a siding company go and repair the 1 inch bend in the plastic piece and they couldn't find it bend it is that unnoticeable I then offered to sell the customer a 5 gallon bucket of top quality sealer at cost, he agreed , but customer lives in Georgia and I have not heard back from him when he will be at the job location to give him the sealer"

Marty did such a great job on the foundation that I hired him to put in a new driveway and back patio too. Marty's driveway <br /> work is artistic with a wonderful line to the edges, flare at the top and drains perfectly. I've had full 10 yard dumpsters picked up <br /> 4 times since the driveway went in and it's as stong as any city street and holding up perfectly. Marty does commercial work and work for the city too and I think his guys just make everything "commercial strong" for good measure. <br /> <br /> I was going to put in a paver patio behind the house and after pricing a concrete patio with Marty, decided to let him <br /> put in the patio and a 20 ft run of 7 steps instead. He did a fantastic job on this too and I could not be happier or recommend <br /> Marty and his guys enough. Everything they did, they did with care and forethought. <br />

Marty with Affordable Concrete did a fantastic job with our driveway. We initially called him in desperation because our existing concrete driveway had just been jack-hammered to bits by another contractor. We were advised by the old contractor that he could just pour right over the broken pieces and we would have a new driveway. That just did not sit right with us, so we called a local concrete company and they sent their inspector over to check out our situation. He immediately advised that pouring fresh concrete over the broken pieces was a <strong>very bad idea.</strong> The inspector also advised us to have all the broken concrete removed and start fresh with a new driveway. This was going to be <strong>EXPENSIVE! </strong> <br /> We checked with Angie?s list and saw Affordable Concrete?s ad, read the reviews and then called him. We did not have a lot of money to spend, but knew it had to be done. We could not use the driveway, it looked like a bomb went off. Marty listened to our dilemma and came over that very night. He saw that we had a big mess. He told us not to worry, he could have the broken concrete removed in a day, and then could pour fresh concrete the next day. He gave us a price and we had an agreement. The following week he began the cleanup process and he did exactly what he said he would do. The price was fair, and we now have a beautiful driveway that diverts the rainwater away from the house. Everyone in our neighborhood has commented on how nice the driveway looks. <br /> Thank you Marty for coming to our rescue and doing such a good job. Marty is very busy, but he was kind enough to fit us into his schedule because of our situation. We will definitely use Marty for all future concrete jobs, as well as refer him to our friends. <br />

Marty was very responsive and came quickly to provide a quote. The quote price was reasonable and Marty is extremely friendly. He contacted me again a week prior to our start date to let us know they'd be starting the following Monday. He was here with his crew first thing Monday morning and they immediately got to work. His crew was efficient and professional - you could tell that they knew their business well. I've remodeled three homes and know the ins and outs of working with various contractors. I can say with confidence that my experience working with Marty was top notch. He did what he said he was going to do and then some, he showed up on time and worked quickly and the work completed is above par. I was extremely satisfied with my experience and would hire him again in a minute. I've recommended him to friends and neighbors and they have been satisfied as well. Asheville is great for many reasons, but I have found that getting people to show up on time and complete the work fully without following up on every detail is not the norm. Marty and his team were the exception and we were very pleased with the entire process of working with them from start to finish. <br />

Can't sing their praises loud enough. Be patient and wait for him, he is busy because he is good and the best price you will find out there (I know, I looked at 10 contractors) but when he starts on your job it goes lightning fast and is done in record time. Marty and his team work 7 days a week (they really do) and in all types of weather. This job at the very least would take a month, he did it all in two weeks and it was superbly done. They are fantastic and Marty is the nicest person you can ever wish to work with. <br /> Here is my story. Like many of the reviews on this site I was frustrated that he could not start as quickly as I wanted him to so I got JC Concrete in (also highly rated on Angie's List) and it was a disaster - they dug the footers in the wrong place in spite of the fact that a surveyor had pegged it out for them. That was 6 weeks and thousands of dollars later - we finally had to get a lawyer to evict them. Feeling very desperate and not knowing who to trust we called Marty at Affordable Concrete and he literally took over the very next day. They fixed the mess by filling, compacting and re-digging the footers, re-doing all the steel and in three days they were already pouring concrete for the footers. Four days later a 1,500 cinderblock basement wall was already built, reinforced and concrete was pouring in. After plumbing was in place the slab only took 3 more days. Phenomenal and fantastic quality. The building inspectors, and contractors I dealt with could not believe the quality and the price. You will NOT get it cheaper and certainly not any better anywhere else. <br /> Here is the best part of my story. Marty knew that we had been ripped off by the useless guy in the first attempt so he not only fixed it all for the same price but he actually came in a lot under his original price saving us the amount we lost. That is the type of guy he is. <br /> Marty has a saying "Don't let them steal your sunshine" he made the sun shine for us again. You would be crazy to look for anyone else - best price, best quality and a really nice guy - that is rare to find in a contractor. <br /> <br />

The name of the business says it all—concrete at a low price. <br /> Quality is important to me, though, so I was concerned when I saw that this vendor had received some low ratings. When I sorted through them, though, I observed that all of the negative ratings were due to responsiveness on jobs that had not been agreed to or were quite small. Based on this, and because my neighbors were familiar with this vendor and we decided as a group who to contract with, I decided to go ahead and hire Affordable Concrete. <br /> The bid that I received was very reasonable—this was confirmed when I called a very highly rated Angie's vendor who does concrete. He said, "I can't match that—I recommend that you hire him." <br /> I have not regretted the decision. Based on the reviews, I was ready to trade off on responsiveness so that I could afford to have the work done on my budget. However, I needn't have worried, because my neighbors and I were kept informed about scheduling changes, of which I think there was just one short delay, due to excessive rainfall. Everyone on our block got what they paid for and everything looks great. There is a lot of demand for this work, especially at certain times of year, and pavers are out in the field a lot, so it does take time for them to call back sometimes. I'm not excusing any poor communications, but I found it to be quite common among the folks that I called. <br /> If you want an affordable job done, I recommend that you hire Affordable Concrete. <br />

I am revising this review because the owner of the company, Marty Williams, really came through with a good quality job. I am very pleased with the work done and would certainly recommend him to anyone who needed a concrete job completed. <br /> <br /> This walk way and platform was needed for my foster daughter so she could access the front yard easier on her crutches. Marty took all of that information and created a wonderful walkway. In addition, he put in a small platform so she could sit in her wheelchair and play ball with my grandsons. To say the least, she is thrilled to have this new access. <br /> <br /> The price was right and the work was very professionally done.

Wow! What a fantastic job Marty and his crew did to convert this driveway. They worked really hard and were on time. They were here when they said they would be and the transformation was beautiful to watch. Even our neighbors were in on the event. Everyone was kind and helpful and we were so grateful for their help. The beautiful driveway gave new life to our yard and our neighborhood. We have had so many complements on the workmanship of the driveway and the block wall. It is so beautiful. <br /> Marty and his crew also buried the new drain lines from the gutters to help with water drainage. Very nice to have this done. The dry creek bed was put in while other crew members worked on the driveway. The river rock is awesome and it is working well at this point to get some of the water diverted down from the yard to stop erosion. Marty and his crew did a wonderful job on that too. <br /> The large debris pile was an eye sore and we had no way of getting rid of it and Marty agreed to remove it for us and we really appreciate that so much. It really made a difference in our landscape to have that removed. <br /> You did it Marty, just like you said you would. What a crew! We cant say enough about what you have done for us and we recommend you every chance we get. <br /> The old mailbox had to be removed and out of the kindness of your heart you installed our new one. For that jester I am so thankful and grateful to Marty and to his crew. Marty Williams gave me a quote and an appointment date was set. They were here the date of the appointment and work began promptly. Due to rain - there was a one day delay on pouring the concrete but I appreciate the fact that he wanted to make sure it was done in the best possible conditions. He is very professional and his team very polite and worked hard to prepare the driveway - including being careful around my plants and working in an open space for me to install plants between the carport and the side parking space. I couldn't be happier with the finished product - it looks great !! I chose Affordable Concrete based on a recommendation from family and then checked Angie's list to confirm they were the best choice - and I didn't make a mistake. I would recommend them to anyone !! I just can't believe how nice it looks. Just a note to Marty - thank you so much and please extend my thanks to your team - you guys are awesome !! <br />

At first we thought working with this company would be great. We were given a hand written quote and a start date of May 15. The start date kept being pushed back, supposedly because of weather. We met with the company 3 times overall. The last time was on July 15, the work was to begin the next morning. That night we were messaging about price so that I could have a check ready and he basically (after many many hesitations and non-compliant answers) said that the quote he gave us he could not honor and that the price would basically be double for the work. He would not explain his original quote. At the end he refused to do our project and/or honor his quote.

"When I was contacted by the customer, I gave an estimate that was regular concrete for three different concrete pads that were very small and afterwards there were many phone calls from the customer and at each call there would be changes made on there part, change of size or location which is fine , the last change was for the one and only pad to be 14 by 32 at her request I came out with two employees and made sure that she got what she wanted as the next day we were to start the prep and pour, I ask her infront of my employees how much I was charging as it had been a while and there were many,many changes and she stated for the stamped concrete $ 8.58 per square foot which is basically cost so I agreed to do the job. Later that night I recieved a text from the customer stating that I quoted her a price of $2700.00 which is $ 5.11 per square foot on first visit that was for regular concrete NOT STAMPED AND COLORED I tried to explain that the normal cost to stamp concrete in this area is between $ 12.00 and $ 18.00 per square foot and that I would do her job at the $ 8.58 to satisfy her her and her husband both told me $ 8.58 a square foot. She then text me a threatening statement that if I didn't do the stamp concrete for the same price of $ 2700.00 she would give me a bad review ( which I still have this text on my phone) This customer is the same person that tried to use two $300.00 coupons and I had to contact Angie's List on her just after the first visit,, My work and 33 year reputation speaks for itself."

Marty was great to work with. He called the day after I purchased the deal. Came out two days later and assessed what I needed and gave me a quote. The day came to do the driveway. His crew brought a Bobcat and worked on my yard leveling clearing etc. Then the next day the concrete showed up. Everything was running smoothly. It was after the driveway was done that I had miscommunication. I thought they would slope the yard to the new driveway. Called Marty, he said they would be out to take care of it. Apparently what happened is they went to another home and thought that was where they were needed. To sum it up, Marty is great. I understand he is the frontman, estimator, salesman and boss. But I would of liked a little more interaction with him during and after the process. I have a beautiful driveway at a fair price. Just wish I had some clean up and follow up. <br />

Martins crew showed up when they said they would and took care in laying the stones ensuring I received the look I wanted. The stones are Tennessee flagstone and look magnificent. I have learned there is an artistry to laying stone and Martin and his crew are masters. Martin is very fair and extremely affable. It was a pleasure to work with him. <br />

<p>I wish I didn't have to write this review because at the time the work was completed my husband and I were very pleased. My issue with the provider (Marty Williams) is his lack of responsiveness to my numerous requests to correct settling problems with the paver patio he installed last summer. Twice he promised he would be here on a certain date to repair the patio, and both times he failed to show up -- and never called to tell me he wouldn't be here. It takes him a long time to respond to my voice mails and emails, and when he does I get another promise from him about when the work will be done.</p> <p>UPDATE: I am pleased to update my review that reflects a positive rating. The patio has been repaired and the work completed in a timely fashion. Marty was very apologetic for not getting to it more quickly but the inclement weather slowed his ability to complete the repairs. I'm now a happy customer and will definitely use him again for future projects.<br /> <br /> </p>
