We had an extremely positive experience with Alcantara Contractors. A large part of our basement had remained unfinished for years, and now it is completely transformed into a beautiful and usable space that we are very happy with. The team was professional and polite, stuck to the budget, and didn?t pressure us to add things at a higher cost. They paid great attention to detail, and took care of things that I didn?t even notice. They finished the work earlier than I expected, and cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Highly recommended!

We used Alcantara to build a dormer the length of our second floor so we could add a bedroom for our kids. The project took about 6 months. Carlos and Odair were both really great to work with – very friendly and communicative. The rest of the staff they employed was top notch as well – they were friendly and kind and, crucially, fantastic workers. Everyone was very respectful of our property and house – they were careful to not damage anything and cleaned up after themselves at every stage of the project. The work that the team did was really well done. They didn’t cut any corners and we felt good about the construction. The end result was great – the new space was exactly what our family needed and my kids are loving having their own rooms! Carlos and Odair made sure we were happy with everything before wrapping the project up and tied up all the loose ends we had. While the project took longer than we'd hoped (we were told 3-6 months for the project and it was pushing 6 months at the end and there were many days they didn't come by due to other projects they were working on), we were thrilled with the end results. We'd absolutely use Alcantara again.

Carlos does not cut corners, the work moves quickly, and the quality is outstanding. I would absolutely hire him again for future projects.

I bought a new refrigerator and the men installing it ripped the rear door and frame right off the house. I called a few contractors and Carlos estimates $200 cheaper than the others. They arrived on time, fixed the door and frame in a few hours. Thanks to you and your workers, my. door works even better than it did. Recently a storm blew a few shingles off the roof of the house. I'm 88, and wasn't going to get on the roof to fix it. I called contractors they said the job was too small for them. When I called Alcantara Construction he said he was doing a job in the area and would stop by and look at it. Before I knew it him and his workers had a ladder on the roof, fixed it, and left. I truly cannot express how AMAZING Carlos and his crew is and wish that I’d met him two years ago. We were at the tail end of a major renovation that we’d started with another contractor and it was full of all the horror stores that you’d expect; people not showing up, shoddy work, constant delays and more. We’d spoken with a bunch of other builders and had similar results; we were at our wits end and truly wished we’d never started this project that we’d long dreamed of doing. After reading Carlos’ reviews, I called him, resigned to the fact that this would be another frustrating dead-end and explained the status of our project; he came out the next day and sent two crews of carpenters the day after that. In four days, Carlos did what our previous contractor hadn’t been able to do in fourteen months! He fixed a ton of poorly done work (including a set of winding oak stairs- no small feat!) and finished our project in ways we could not have imagined a week ago. Literally every day, my wife and I would say to ourselves, “is this really happening?!” Our house looks amazing, the craftsmanship is incredible and we couldn’t be happier. All of his carpenters are excellent to work with, communicate their ideas clearly, and are extremely clean. They offered ideas as to best use the space without adding to the budget and even fixed things I hadn’t noticed were installed wrong by the previous contractor. They showed up on time, did their jobs well and I truly cannot thank them enough. Thank you Marceil, Marcellino and everyone else at Alcantara! I will literally never hire anyone but Carlos for any building needs and have already referred him to three friends that are looking to do projects ranging from building decks to large interior renovations. I hired Carlos and his team to reconstruct my front porch and replace some rotten fascia and trim around my roof. Carlos comes with a wealth of experience and was able to accurately estimate the job. He was respectful of my budget and worked with me to accommodate my needs. He was easy to communicate with, extremely punctual with everything I needed on my end, and kept a close eye on the job until it was complete. His team was meticulous and thorough, and the craftsmanship of their work was outstanding. They were also sure to leave my house clean and organized each night when they left, which was very appreciated. I'm very happy with the work that was done and will definitely hire Carlos and his team again for any future work I need.

We needed to have a rapid turnaround for third floor patch and painting job before carpet installation. Carlos provided a quote on Saturday and was able to start the job on Monday. The quality of his team's work was excellent; they were prompt, efficient and professional. We were very pleased with the results and would definitely consider hiring again.

I have used Alcantara Contracting twice now, once for some minor bathroom work and recently for kitchen cabinet painting and carpentry (shelving and window sills). Carlos was quick to return my message and to stop by to assess the job and to get me a quote. His team was very professional and a pleasure to work with. They managed to keep everything neat too despite the tight workspace, and they finished the job quickly. I own a condo in East Boston and it needed some serious re-work to the exterior brick wall to maintain a strong structure. I was referred to Carlos, the owner of Alcantara Contractors, by a family member who has used his services in the past and needless to say he did not disappoint! Carlos quickly responded when we reached out and within the week he had a quote back to us for the job. The re-work was comprehensive and we received quotes from other contractors that were much more expensive and had a much longer project timeline so moving forward with Carlos was an easy decision. The project took about 4-5 weeks from start to finish and the end result was spectacular. Carlos & his team were great, extremely friendly and knowledgeable, on-time, and they clearly hold themselves to a higher standard then other contractors that I've worked with in the past. Carlos takes serious pride in his work and you can quickly tell that he's a "quality-driven" contractor that pays close attention to detail in any job (big or small) that he performs. Excellent job!! From start to finish!! Carlos was one of three quotes I received and quickly called me to check in on the quote. He worked with me on costs. Carlos and his team came quickly to my condo (that I rent out) to assess and repair damages after it got flooded. Parts of walls needed replacement, insulation needed to be checked and fixed, baseboards, floor needed to be pulled up and replaced, cabinets (including the sink and stove and fridge) and granite counters needed to be pulled out from wall to check for water damage behind walls, and then put back, walls needed to be painted. The team worked quickly and professionally, and was always polite and courteous. They were understanding that the condo was a rental and I was losing income while it was not livable, and they worked quickly to make all the needed repairs. I had the chance to hire Carlos and his team again when I needed more painting and wall repair done, and they returned quickly once again, did another excellent job, and also worked within my budget. I never experienced damages like this to my property, and didn't know who to turn to. I am so happy to have found Carlos, Alex and the rest of the team! I will definitely have them back next time! The job went well. Called several handymen. Some did not respond and a couple came out but either did not send a quote. Carlos came to the house, explained what needed to be done, gave me a quote and sent an email of the same. The men arrived and removed the old facia board and siding, cut and fitted the new board in place and replaced the siding. All work defined in the estimate was completed and at the quoted price. The men were professional and courteous. They cleaned their work area as well. I am very satisfied with their work. Definitely would hire again.

Carlos and his Alcantara Contractor team did a great job. They began the project when promised (January 2018) and completed it by July 2018 (about a month and 1/2 late which was understandable due to unexpected structural work). Carlos and/or his team explained all of the work they proposed to do and consulted us when new issues presented. Overall quality of work was very good and we are very pleased with the results.

I had some small water damage and needed a section of padding replaced and the carpet re-installed. Carlos and his workers were very professional, polite and on time. Also, I had Alcantara do a much bigger job and my experience with them was very positive.

Carlos, the owner, brought many suggestions to the table and spent the time trying to work within a budget at the same time bringing in the much needed updates. He discouraged some items that would have just made him money and was honest about costs. The workmanship in respecting the elements of an old home showed in repairing and restoring glass doorknobs to their prior elegance while still bringing modern touches to our home has been an amazing transformation. Small detail items didn't go unnoticed such as to where to center the bathroom vanity which makes a difference for the size constraints in our small bathroom. He's responsive on calls and was willing to work with us when we changed our mind or added extra work. The carpentry and painting skills of his crew are incredible. I'll never paint again now that I've seen what a quality paint job looks like.

Carlos was fantastic about responding to our initial communication and showing up for a consultation. He gave us very helpful information during the consult, including recommending what we could wait on, as this is our first home, it needs a lot of work, and we are first-time home owners. We were very pleased with that process. However, it took several weeks and quite a bit of followup to get an estimate. We were also pleased, once the work was over, that the final cost matched the initial estimate exactly - and Carlos even reduced the price somewhat because they did not need to replace a vent that he had included in the original estimate. <br /> The people who actually did the work were friendly. However, they did not communicate when they would be arriving; some days they didn't come, other days they showed up to say they would not be coming, and some days they came with no warning. When they were here, they were fantastic and they were clearly working hard and working well. We had only positive interactions with them. <br /> We followed up with Carlos multiple times regarding additional projects on our house, but following the initial work and payment, we never heard from Carlos or his team again. We ended up hiring someone else. <br /> Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the work, but the communication was a huge challenge. We would hire Carlos and his team again if possible. <br />

The front porch came out great! It was regraded to keep water running away from the house and resurfaced. <br /> The indoor work on the ceiling was done quickly and professionally.  It looks really nice. <br /> The roofing job was not done quite as expected. The fascia board was not replaced to cover the black rubber as discussed. After questioning this, I never heard back from them. I paid for the front porch and the ceiling in full.  With the roof, I paid most, but not all. I figured I would hold off until the job was done as expected. <br />

Carlos, the owner, had Antonio come out and look at my porch. He removed the bottom step from my porch and said he would replace it. It was raining at the time and Antonio did not want to work in the rain so he told me that he would come back the next morning. Three days later and he has still not shown up. I have called Carlos repeatedly and he just keeps making excuses as to why Antonio has not come out to install the railing and repair my steps. I am very disappointed with this company!

good and bad. They quoted us one price, then charged us significantly more.   Also, they knocked-off a second-story downspout.  We called them several times to replace it, and they said they would come and re-attach it, but they never did.  They removed the ice dams satisfactorily. <br />
