The provider charged me $69 for a local service call and $98 for the repair. Total cost of $167. The rental tenant said All American was on the job site for 5 minutes. I do not mind that if All American had actually corrected the problem. One week later the septic pump stopped working again. I called another plumber. Their opinion was that All American did not pull the pump and find the root cause. All American did the absolute minimum to get my money and leave. The second plumber made two trips to the house, picked up a new pump for me and did the installation for a total of $150. I called All American and told them I did not mind paying for the service call but that the repair charge was unfair. They were not very nice on the phone and replied 'I will think about it'. I asked them to let me know their decision. They didn't even have the courtesy to do that. I will not be using All American again.
Response from All American Plumbing Inc
"Sorry you were unhappy, your renter was wrong I was there an hour and I cleaned your sewage pump and got it working and it worked fine for a week I cannot predict how long aged pumps will last as I explained to you. I could have changed the pump out soon as I got there which is what a lot of plumbers do, which 9 times out of 10 is unnecessary. I always give the customer all the options."

First of all, he was supposed to come in the afternoon, but came in the morning. He charged 69.00 for a service call, which I didn't know he would do. I would have thought he would have told me up front. Then he charged 98.00 for labor which I thought was a little excessive just to put on two washers which took maybe five minutes. He left to get the toilet seats, came back and put them on and then charged me another 69.00 for a service call and also the price of the seats.

This is a person I have done business with over the years and probably have given him several thousand dollars worth of business. For him to just charging all these excessive prices was just overwhelming. I don't think I will be doing business with this company again.

Response from All American Plumbing Inc
"I am sorry you were unhappy with the service call price of $69.00 we charge it every time we come to a customer's home, which covers our time gas wear and tear on our vehicles. Please know that other plumbing companies in the area charge more, some twice as much. I even told you on the phone when you set up the appointment since you needed a special color toilet seat, you could pick them up before I came. that would have saved you the extra service call. I called before I came since I was running ahead of schedule to see if i could come earlier and you said to come. We always give upfront pricing in writing, which you signed before I started. Again I am sorry for the misunderstanding."

He did great work, the issues I have is that he did not clean up correctly after himself and did not flush the system (correctly) creating what could have been issues.
After he left I went around and checked where he worked and found some items that I consider issues. Under the house where he cut the copper line loose to install the house shut off valve he left water on the ground (fortunately the ground is covered with plastic) and I had to clean it up. Their was a 5-gallon bucket within ten feet of where he was working. Also, he left the copper pipe that he cut loose in place to add the closet shut off valve. I had to cut the two hangers that were holding the pipe to remove it (took me about 30 seconds, that is after I went to mg garage and got the tools to do it).
Also, while he was here he let water drain on the ground when he installed the two shut off valves for the outside faucets (again had to clean it up, was minor but he still should of cleaned it up). Plus, when he was replacing the flexible water lines in one bathroom he should of bled the lines before making the final connections to the faucet...the cold water side had trash that broke loose and some trash got stuck in the faucet and very little cold water would come out.
Due to the make and model of the faucet he did not carry spare parts for it. He said, he had the same thing happen to another customer and they let it run all night and in the morning it was OK as the material that got stuck in it finally dissolved. This could have been eliminated by flushing the water lines (two outside faucets, and the three sink faucets before making the final connections). He did tell me if I needed to replace it where to go (tell them he sent me) and he would come back and replace it for a service and a installation charge. This is for an issue he created as the faucet worked fine just before he got here. This is the main reason I will not use him again as he should of informed me to run the water (if need be) over night and if that does not correct the issue that he would replace/rebuild it at no cost to me. He also informed me that if he rebuilt the faucet that he would not guarantee it. Did not say anything but sure was not a happy camper at that time on a issue he created. Seeing as to the faucet is OK now that is a mute issue.
When he left I checked to ensure everything else worked and when I ran the showers, bathtub, washing machine and flushed the toilets their was a lot of dirty water. I did follow his advice and let the one faucet run (cold water side). Checked it every hour and after a couple of hours it was flowing OK. Like I said he did great work, but should of cleaned up after himself and flushed the lines. Also, he should of informed me to check all water devices and flush them to be on the safe side. Just good practice to ensure that the customer does not get any surprises, like washing the first load of clothes, taking a shower, bath.or cooking something in a pot (would of hated to drink a glass of water looking like that). I understand that it would of not hurt anyone in any way as it forms on the inside of water lines and if you open them up and let air get in, then after the system is repaired the water breaks the stuff loose and it just looks nasty...boy tell that to my wife).
Then when my wife came home she noticed the rug was dirty where he worked or walked (brown stain from working under the house). She had to shampoo the rug (was not happy about that). Sure am glad I flushed all the lines before she came home as she would of really got mad with me.
Response from All American Plumbing Inc
"I am sorry you were unhappy with the dirty water in your pipes, I did however flush your line to the outside faucets first, the dirty water left in lines was above the outside faucets and is unavoidable, your invoice clearly states right above your signature when I gave you the upfront pricing, we cannot be responsible for aged pipes or fixtures. Water left on the ground in your crawl space will evaporate I have been doing this since 1983 and I don't know of any plumber who cleans that up. I apologize for your rug getting dirty I always do the work under house first to avoid that, After I was done you added the inside work, I should have wore my booties. Again I am sorry, I appreciate your comments and consider them for all future jobs."

He really didn't do anything. He flushed the toilet about 20 times and it didn't show and leaks. He just told me that he couldn't find any leak and it hasn't leaked since then. It was fine. I like his openness about everything. I asked him how much it would cost to put in a new toilet and he told me over $400 and that changed my mind on that. He was open about it.

Mr. Hodges was very prompt and courteous. We showed him the problems and he immediately went to work to repair them. He was very good about communicating the cost of each repair. He also told us that one of the fixes may not take care of the problem, but he preferred to try the less expensive option before committing to a more expense and complicated repair. What he did seemed to take care of the leak, but he told us to keep our eyes open. HIs work is guaranteed so if we had another issue he would take care of it. He also gratiously excepted the Angie's List coupon I had purchased which saved us $25 on the cost of the repairs. I will hire him again if a need arises.
