Nick and Andy are a superb team. Together they crafted a drought-tolerant plan for our front and backyards. They were responsive to our concerns and suggestions and never once attempted to up-sell us. Both front and backyards turned out beautifully!

It went well enough. Not fully satisfied with all plants or groundcover choices but went with both; my fault. Absolutely no follow-up, excuses of too busy, will stop by later; never happened. Have texted them but not alot; don't want to be a nag. Guarantee follow-up with replacements and/or removal, etc., for a year from $initialization. This has not happened. Nice guys but need to follow-up.

The MWD notified me that we were back on the list for a Turf Removal Rebate. I wanted to hire a local company for many reasons, but two prominent Riverside companies never returned my calls (I even called one company three times). Fortunately, All Environmental Design, based in Pomona and now in Riverside, quickly made an appointment for a free estimate. Their website was the only one that I saw that listed prices for different packages.

Nick was great, very personable. However, he wanted to charge us a fee to draw anything up before the work began. I understand the point of a design fee, and know that it's not uncommon. But we were only wanting a sketch as we talked about it, and instead, he wanted something like $350 with only a small portion of that going to the overall price. We discussed how we'd use the Angie's List deal (if I'm not mistaken, it was $2800 work of work for $1499 including 15 plants, succulents costing more, and a line of water to be laid down - the deal is now gone). I provided 9 plants, pavers and a tree myself. I'll also state - he asked me to pay a portion up front, and the remainder at the conclusion of the job, instead of going through Angie's List for payment. The guys worked quickly, and were polite and friendly. They finished in 2 days. A week later, one of the valves busted on the sprinkler system, and our backyard flooded a bit. Their guy came out the following day and replaced the defective part, and dug up our drain. That was 2 weeks ago, and the yard is still a bit muddy - not their fault, obviously. But I wanted to provide photos of the work. It's beautiful, they did a great job. We have a decomposed granite path from the side of the house to the back door, and all the rest of the area is mulch and several plants. My issue is that the invoice I received is very "general". See photo. I requested via text message a more in depth invoice after the fact, and was told by Nick that "that would be it." I see no evidence that I got the Angie's List deal, nor any credit whatsoever for the plants I provided instead of using his. Looking back, had I purchased the package through the website itself, perhaps he'd have a better accounting of the various aspects of the job. We have one of four sections of the backyard now complete, and to be honest, I don't believe we'll be using this company again. It's a huge yard, and a very costly endeavor. We just want to know where our money goes/went.

"Howdy, thanks for the review. Your project was larger than the deal offered so therefore the price would be higher than the deal respectively including additional features. The portion up front is called a 10% deposit to secure the start of project and secure your position of work in our schedule. We didn't collect deposit but the final balance upon completion which is fine for us in cases like these that are such small projects. I did offer to put a tree in your yard originally which is not covered by the deal but somehow we got to where you bought it. My offer is still on the table and would like to buy you a tree you can save for next phase of your project. Please let us know and good luck with your future endeavor. Nick"

Nick and Andy were easy to work with. They listened to my ideas and budget and put together a plan that matched. They performed their work professionally and promptly. I was worried about an El Nino storm causing a swampy mess and complications, but they performed the work promptly - in 3-1/2 days working into the early evening and on Saturday and Sunday - to complete the work between storms. The end product was done beautifully. You can see the pride they take in their work. For example they matched the stone brick pattern of the planter to the river rock. The river rock they selected was natural and beautiful. The plants, flowers, river rock, brick planter, flagstones and mulch were all harmoniously coordinated. They did a great job. <br />

I had to pay more. I had them do a little bit more than what the package called for. It was about $800 more. They wouldn't be my first choice. They were okay. They could be more detailed.

They we're here everyday (just as they had committed to prior to the start), to insure the success of the project. They were promp in their schedule, professional & delivered on all of our expectations. It's not often that you see the commitment & dedication from a team as was displayed by All Environmental Design!! Four years of ongoing drought in the Inland Empire are of California, with the repressive heat waves of 2015, combined with mandatory state water rationing, have scorched and dessicated the grassy turflands of our front yard. Our water district started offering turf removal and drought tolerant yard replacement rebates, so we decided to covert our yard for the long term. We primarily chose A.L.L. Environmental Design due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews, which are spot on and accurate, as we would come to find out ourselves! We met with Nick, who was extremely friendly, to get the initial estimates and package options. His partner, Andy, came up with a pleasing design, with attractive plants that thrive on minimal water and full sun. The plants even produce flowers with nectar that have local butterflies and neighboorhood hummingbirds making daily pitstops, much to the pleasure of my young daughters. Nick, Andy and their expert crew were alway timely, efficient and professional! The entire project only took a few days, with minimal disruption to our daily routines. The final product, not only passed the water district's rebate specifications, but met and exceeded our imagined and visualized expectations. The yard looks wonderful with neighbor's giving us compliments on the overall look and layout of our new front yard! Our neigboorhood had some homes chosing to replace their yards with fake plasti-grass and some with drought tolerant plants, however I believe A.L.L. Environmental Design came up with the most natural and attractive option at a price point that we could afford! I have recommended them to friends and co-workers that are in the process of converting their yards to conserve water and would not hesitate to recommend them for any potential Angie's List members needing yard design and implementation! <br />

Nick & his crew brought most of the plants & trees out the night before & they arrived early the next morning & were able to complete the project in one day! <br /> <br /> It really looks great & is growing well! I had a few of the plants die & Nick came & replaced them for me & said that if anything needs to be replaced, just give him a call & he will take care of it. <br /> <br /> I plan on having him add some new bark in the fall to spruce up the look so that it will remain attractive & healthy! I have saved a lot on my water bill just by replacing part of my back yard & installing a drip to that part. <br /> <br /> Great job!

NIck and Andy were wonderful meeting with me and listening to my ideas. They took pictures and drew up a plan to submit to my water district to apply for a rebate qualifications. Made sure I met all criteria on rebate website. They were professional, courteous, and once the rebate was approved, they met with me once again to finalize plans. They were always punctual, professional and courteous, their work crew was fantastic and Nick and Andy were always there supervising and working alongside their crew. The entire project was completed in two days due to their hardwork. They cleaned up everyday.

They were good. We had them come out and take a look at what needed to be done and what we wound up wanting to do was much larger. We first had to get the fencing done by another company they weren't able to get the environmental design done about a week ago. The deal did help. Their price was quite reasonable.

We have a large expanse of lawn in front yard and with the new water restrictions we wanted to eliminate some of it. We had talked about it for some time then I saw this deal on Angie's List so we decided to go for it. The plan was initially for 250 square feet but we added 100 feet and paid a little extra for it. Andy emailed us a plan of the yard and after we approved it they arrived on the 11th and proceeded to take out the lawn and place the plants. There is a nice variety of drought tolerant plants of different sizes. It all turned out beautifully and we are thinking about replacing another section of lawn with the same thing. <br /> I would highly recommend the whole crew at A.L.L. Environmental Design; everyone we met and talked to were very nice, polite and punctual.

We have so far met with Nick twice and he has been incredibly professional, easy to talk to, and in general has been a pleasure to do business with. <br /> <br /> Nick has a wealth of knowledge of plants and their water needs. We are very pleased with the variety of plants he has selected for our back yard. He explained the reasoning behind several of his recommendations, and was honest enough to talk us out of some potentially costly ideas we had that in the long run would not save much money or water. <br /> <br /> More specifically, I came to write this review because at the last minute my in-laws decided they wanted a change in the design after Nick had already finalized his drawing and we had confirmed there would be no updates. Nick was very patient and was able to accommodate us. For this we are incredibly appreciative and, needless to say, we will be proceeding with the project as planned.

We worked with Andy on this project. Andy visited and spent the better part of an hour looking over our current lawn area and discussing what we were looking for and what we liked for a drought-tolerant replacement. We discussed relative costs of various options and talked with us about what we could do now as a starting point and and how we could fill in more expensive parts later. He sent a list of plants he likes to use in the design for us to look up and see if we had any particular likes and dislikes. He also sent us a footage estimate for our turf within a couple days so we could begin the process of applying for a drought-tolerant lawn replacement rebate. He also walked us through installation procedures and explained how we could efficiently convert our existing sprinkler system to provide drip irrigation. <br /> The plan was dropped off a few days later (he knocked softly as he didn't want to ring the bell and wake our potentially sleeping baby) and we discussed a little bit more by email. The design is fairly simply presented, about an 11x17 computer printout outlining the areas of our front yard and parkway, with a listing of plants by scientific name. The layout really seems like the type of front yard we want and got me excited about having fun areas with paths and rocks and bird-friendly plants in front of our house. He used a selection of plants from his list and added a few other species to incorporate requests I made with particular varieties that would work with the other plants in the garden. Doing my own reading on the individual plant species and varieties he suggested, they have reviews as high visual impact and robust easy-care varieties which is great for our low-maintenence gardening style. <br /> In our follow up emails Andy explained some details of how drip irrigation would work for the different species, suggested some design modifications based on questions I had, and explained how to incorporate an existing plant I was hoping to keep that he'd forgotten to include in his plan. <br /> My general impression was that this was a lovely and very practical design that satisfied our layout desires and was likely to be a really functional space for our family that fit our desired informal style. Andy was clearly knowledgable about the installation and future growth and maintenance of drought-tolerant landscapes, and his company is at the top of our list right now for proceeding further with our drought-tolerant lawn replacement. <br />

Nick Gasteiger, Andy Turnbull and their team were very easy and pleasant to work with. The job was completed on-time on the date indicated during the planning process. I absolutely adore the new irrigation system they installed, I no longer have to stand I'm a California native and I love real turf (grass) and was not sure I wanted to go the drought tolerant route but after seeing the finished project and how well all the plants and trees looked once completed I was in love with my yard, so much so I am going to have Nick and his team come back to complete the front yard. Prior to Friday we had several meetings on the design and concept that we were looking for in a backyard. They worked two days and turned our backyard into a luxury resort \ Drought Tolerant which was both practical and beautiful at the same time.
