They did upsell me a dryer drum lint cleaning as well as the vent itself, but since the total price (they were having a sale on the vent cleaning) was still a bit less than I had paid for the vent cleaning in my old house, I wasn't unhappy. They did find a large bolus of impacted lint that had collected around a large paper clip. Since the clip was identical to the ones I use and I have wrecked other things with a large paper clip (like the clutch in a 73 VW), I know it wasn't a scam. The dryer is much improved and now things are drying properly.
