Chris did a fantastic job. His work is first class, a real craftsman with attention to detail. His price if fair and he honored the agreement. Installing replacement windows in an 80 year old house is not an easy job. Chris provided a suggestion for a manufacturer which proved great. He has extensive knowledge in window and door replacement and was a pleasure to work with. We are happy.

Chris did an amazing job replacing all the windows in our complex. He was punctual and very professional and made the process very easy for all of us. We are all very happy with our new windows and we would hire him again with no hesitation. Thanks again

I took a cold call from Chris in Fall 2018 and am so glad I did! I had been looking for replacement windows for original 1930s wood windows, as well as a few 1970s aluminum windows. For me, vinyl just wasn't going to work as I wanted to keep the quality of the house in its original form, as well as upgrade the 70s remodel to be more consistent the original part of the house. Chris came and suggested a new product for him, Sierra Pacific. I did some research and determined, for my project and for the cost (I had bids as high as $100K for this job) that I was willing to give this product and Chris a shot. It was a very large job, 27 windows, some on the second story, plus a large 8ft glass slider, and a standard exterior door. The project did take several weeks, but Chris throughout all of the questions and decisions was helpful, knowledgeable, and aimed to please. Installation was smooth and he takes pride in making sure things are done right, are working properly, and that I was happy with the product and the work. Chris is wonderful to work with – we have had the windows in now for about 6 months and are extremely happy with the product. The quality is superior to your standard vinyl install, we sound proofed one side of the house due to neighbor noise (it works like a charm), and it is wonderful to have a fully functioning house of beautiful windows - that are consistent from original house to addition. I would highly recommend Chris and Sierra Pacific if you are considering a replacement for wood. Thank you Chris for all the work, for your partnership and guidance!
Response from Alta Sierra windows
"This member originally contacted us by phone, we do not solicit work by cold call. Sierra Pacific is a high end wood product with an extended lead time and that is why the project took several weeks. It was an absolute pleasure working for this member and we are thrilled that the project met/exceeded her expectations and came in under budget."

The job was during the first half of March 2019 for a 35 year old, 28 two- and three-story townhouse unit complex in Pasadena, California/trendy Playhouse District. As the current and prior/numerous years condo association president, I have had many experiences with contractors, including roofing, painting, plumbing, landscaping, and Chris Coyle is by far the most competent, reasonable, reliable, cooperative, fair and most professional of all the contractors. I would most highly recommend his services. During the plus two-week installation, Chris as company boss was "on top of job" because actually he himself and his assistant were installing/"doing the heavy lifting" for all of the new windows. This clearly illustrates his commitment/pride in his craftsmanship. Also, he is very knowledgeable about the window product/Milgard because he thought it best for this job to actually remove most of the old window frames, not customary for a/this "retrofit" versus "replacement" window installation. He was willing to do the extra work at no additional cost in order that the new window frames were not wide/distracting but thinner/minimal/open/clean/more open/glass configuration to enhance the overall modernization of the complex. I "gambled" with this new look for improving the complex, and Chris made not only the complex look good but me as president as well. Every- one is thrilled by the windows results, even asking "why didn't 'we' do this earlier?' I and the other homeowners do not hesitate at all in recommending Christopher Coyle and his Alta Sierra Windows company to any other homeowner. Richard, president, Oak Knoll Village homeowner association. (Thanks Chris!)

"This was one of our largest installs consisting of 166 windows and 8 patio doors. It was very satisfying helping so many different people improve the functionality, appearance and efficiency of their windows and doors. It was a challenging job but we came through with "flying colors". Thank you so much for the outstanding review."

I hired them to replace several windows on my home. My problem with them starts with communication: - I paid the deposit through paypal and emailed them but did not receive confirmation until I emailed them 3 days later. - There was no call or email to confirm that they were coming on the scheduled day. I had to email them the week prior to confirm that they were coming. - The day of installation, they arrived without one of the windows. I did not receive any prior communication that they were missing a window. I only figured it out when I asked them about the missing window. At that point, they told me they were missing a window and that they would have to return and install the window at a later time. - When they installed the french door, there was a gap between the door and the wall that was a half inch wide with light clearly visible coming through. I happened to be there when he was doing this. When he started covering up this gap with trim without any foam or anything, I asked him about it, he was reluctant to remove the trim saying that he might not be able to get it off. He only filled it with foam after I insisted that he do so. - The quality of the trim work is poor. None of the installed trim was mitered. The quarter round is installed at 90-degree angles so there is an ugly gap between the two pieces. - The trim piece at the threshold was installed over a half inch gap that was not filled. This trim piece has now shifted into the gap and completely pulled up 4 months after installation. - there was little to no communication about when the remaining window was coming. After no communication, there was a call asking to come the following day. My wife and I had to move our schedules around to accommodate. When he arrived and did the installation, he asked me if we had any house paint to finish the trim. He did not have any with him and I was not asked prior to him coming to provide him with it so the trim was left unpainted. I have a considerable lack of trust in the other windows that he installed.

"When a customer requests to pay using PayPal, a receipt is automatically generated and sent to the email address that PayPal has on record for that specific account. I'm not sure why this customer didn't receive a receipt for his deposit. Regardless, upon completion of every install, we send all of our customers a detailed invoice. As soon as an order arrives from the manufacturer, we attempt to call the customer in order to schedule the installation. This member implies that we just showed up at his house without first calling him to schedule. This is simply not true as I had personally spoken to him the day prior to install. We would never just show up to a customers home without first confirming either by phone call or by email. Several of the photos that this member posted of the door were taken DURING installation, and BEFORE completion. It is unconscionable that this member would deceptively post photos of an incomplete install. Also, I am bewildered and frustrated that this member did not contact us in order to give us an opportunity to address what were minor service issues regarding his new door. Customer service and satisfaction are exceedingly important to us, along with maintaining the excellent reputation we have earned from the vast majority of our Angie's List customers. During the installation, we heard the customer screaming in anger at his family, not just yelling, but actually screaming as loud as he could. I was absolutely shocked that he would treat his family like that, especially while we were working there. In my opinion, this member has an anger issue. Not sure why we received a "C" for punctuality as we arrived on time and on the scheduled day."

Chris did a great job replacing the sliding glass door and window installation. A lot of attention was given to the details and workmanship. The Milgard product is superior for the price. We would highly recommend this company.

So, the burglars got in through a patio slider (my initial thought was that the entire door would have to be replaced). I called Chris on a Monday morning and although he had appointments already scheduled, he said he could be here by noon and he would inspect the frame, “maybe just the glass panel has to be replaced”. He showed up as promised, took a look at the frame and said it looked fine. He gave me a competitive quote to replace the glass panel (dual pane with a Low-E coating) and said he could be back in a few days installation. Chris wasn’t the least expensive quote, but he also was not the most expensive – and he was the only contractor to say that he would replace the mesh on the screen door (great, a time-saver for me!) The morning of the scheduled installation, Chris called and asked if he could come by a little early – I completely understood as temps in the area were supposed to be 112 degrees and I had to get to the office anyway. The install took a little longer than he had planned as another contractor had used double-sided tape to secure the temporary glass and Chris had to ensure that it was completely removed. He made sure the slider and screen locked as they should and he cleaned up the area. Chris asked about the alarm sensor and I told him I had to pick up some tape at the hardware store to re-install it – he says, “no problem, I have some tape – I’ll do it right now”. I found Chris to be honest, willing to go the extra mile, and someone who will treat your home with respect – that’s the guy I want working on my house. Thank you Chris.
Response from Alta Sierra windows
"My top priority is to treat the customer and their homes with respect. It is unfortunate that this customers house was burglarized and it was very important for me to restore his door to its original working condition and appearance. I'm glad this customer was very happy with my work and professionalism."

Chris is a true craftsman. He made sure that everything was perfect, and he did the work at a price that substantially beat two well-regarded competitors. Both window/doors are now perfectly clear and they move smoothly for the first time since we purchased the home a year ago.

Chris is a hard worker who does quality work. He worked through the Holiday weekend. He replaced all the windows the first day and came back the next day to finish all the trim work. They were vinyl replacements for old aluminum windows. This is the second time we hired him. He replaced two large sliding glass doors for us 5 years ago, so not only would I hire him again but I did hire him again. We received 2 other quotes and Chris came in the lowest by far. He's basically a one man show which I think allows him to keep his overhead low and the savings is passed on to the customer. He uses Milgard windows and they look and work great. We looked at other products and the Milgard looked to be as good as any other. No regrets.
Response from Alta Sierra windows
"Glad we could help this member...twice! They chose Milgards Tuscany series both times. Tuscany is arguably the best vinyl window/door product available due to its superior construction and outstanding warranty with free glass breakage replacement. It costs more, however it is well worth the extra money. Many people purchase less expensive, generic vinyl windows that are manufactured with up to 50% recycled plastics and end up having to replace their windows again in as little as 7 years, especially if they have large windows. This member made the right choice, Milgard Tuscany series with its comprehensive lifetime warranty. Thank you for the A rating."

Could not be happier. Chris was a pleasure to work with, and he has a great attitude and demeanor that makes discussing the work with him very easy. We had standard square windows, small corner windows, large picture windows, and a couple of oddly shaped semi-circle windows above the picture windows and doorway, and he even installed a new door and frame leading out of the garage. Chris always answered my many annoying questions, and he did not mind explained everything he did in good detail. I would definitely recommend Chris and Alta Sierra for great work, very competitive and fair pricing, thorough explanation of the work and warranty, and an overall great attitude. Chris is just a genuinely nice person who is not out to scam or take advantage of anyone.

"One of our goals is to make sure our customers feel good about the price they pay. Obviously, price was a primary concern for this member and we are glad she found us on Angies List. There are plenty of contractors/companies that overcharge for window/door installation and we are not one of them. Thank you so much for the kind review."

When I bought my house in 2011, one of the features I really loved were the unique windows. They were all wood, handmade, and opened inward. The love was short-lived. It was a chore to open windows, especially after I installed blinds. The last straw was during a storm a few years later when the wind pushed one window open in the middle of the night. Eventually, all the windows on the south side of the house began to leak and I had to put tarps ups--very embarrassing. I had only gotten two quotes, but I soon as I met Chris, I liked him right away. He was prompt, responded quickly to my questions, and seemed very kind. I first hired him in 2015 to replace the four south-facing windows that leaked. I decided to go with single-hung windows. They changed the look of the house a bit, but not in a bad way. Not only did they prevent water from coming in, but they kept in the heat during the winter and the cold in the summer. Two years later, when I saved enough money, I had Chris replace the windows on the rest of my house. The front windows in the living room and bedroom were a bit pricey because I decided to go with casement windows (6 total) to keep the same look of the home. Instead of opening in, they opened to the outside. Those are really beautiful. I also replaced two small windows in my bedroom (single-hung) and a sliding glass door in the back. I was also considering replacing my back door (which is almost all window), but Chris said that it was a good door; double-paned and solid. He said it just needed an adjustment, which he did for free! Overall, this is one investment in my house that I am so grateful for. I am saving on my gas and electric bills, the noise from the light rail (which runs right behind my house) is greatly reduced, and, most importantly, I feel so much more safe and secure.

Second time I used Alta Sierra and very happy with service. I replaced two 30 year old, small exterior French Doors with one large door and sidelight. Very happy with service. Chris is great and did all the work himself in one day. I trust him enough I left him to work on the door while I went off for errands. Will certainly use him for next batch of window replacements.

Chris was a delight to work with from the start. He came to my home and measured and suggested many options for me to consider. I asked for pricing on several options as well. He was friendly and helpful and patient with my questions. He came when he said he would and the job took the 3 days he predicted. He did all of his own work and kept the area clean and neat at all times. While he was working on the job, he happily explained his methods and showed me the details as he did them. As a finishing touch, when the job was done, he measured the windows and gave tips for ordering blinds. Then he offered to come back and hang them. I would recommend him to any of my friends.

Alta Sierra Windows was the first company I called. Chris came out and took measurements. He arrived five minutes before our scheduled time and provided me a written estimate for the work within two days. Chris explained the scope of work to be done and said he does all of the work by himself. He said the job would take about 4-5 days to replace the 22 windows and install the aluminum wrap around the exterior trim. Chris showed up to work every day, on time, and communicated well throughout the job. The quality of his work and his timeliness were on point. This was the best experience I have had with any type of remodel in 15 years.
Response from Alta Sierra windows
"4-5 days may seem like a long time to install 22 windows however, the windows themselves were installed in 2 days. It was the (optional) custom, vinyl clad aluminum frames on the exterior that took the extra time to install. This option is specific to wood framed windows and provides a permanent maintenance solution as far as never having to paint the exterior wood ever again. It's well worth the money. Thank you member for the positive review and A rating."

Excellent, professional work. Chris replaced my windows over a year ago. When I texted him on Friday, 12/8/17 to tell him that one of the alarm connections on a window had come loose, he came that Sunday at 5:30 to fix it and refused to take any money for his time and effort! He is honest, hard-working and a good man. Thanks, Chris.

She needed to do something about the afternoon sun and heat that made it unbearable to work in that room because of the original single pane wood windows and an old door. The reason I chose Alta Sierra after getting 3 estimates and making several phone calls, was that Chris was the only one who offered vinyl covering for wooden window frames. One guy wanted to cut the sill and put a vinyl frame, several guys flat out said "we won't touch wooden sills." Chris removed all rotted wood, patched it with new wood, then covered the window frame with vinyl. The windows look like new original windows. Chris was very well informed on the window codes for my house and very helpful with what styles to choose. Very tidy and very hard working.
Response from Alta Sierra windows
"Wood framed windows are not common on the west coast therefore, the expertise needed to address maintenance issues with them are also not common in CA. After more than 30 years in the business, I have acquired skills that are not generally used in all regions of the country. I'm glad I was able to provide the specific service this member was seaching for (custom exterior vinyl clad aluminum frames)."
