The workmen were punctual, finished quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Has been 18 months since the repair and there are no signs of recurrence or settling.

Work went well. Crew arrived when scheduled and on time. Seemed very professional, friendly, and conscientious. They showed me what they were doing and how the piers would be installed. I gathered 5 quotes for the job and they were the most professional/competitive of everyone I spoke with and I was not disappointed. Only minor complaint would be that it seemed the grading on the back fill was left a bit high. I was told it would settle, but I doubt it will settle that much. Not a big deal--I would still highly recommend them.

Prior to choosing ABS, I received several quotes and made my final decision based ABS being family owned and operated. When I received my quote from Aaron, he inspected my crawl space and outside my home. He took several reading of the moisture throughout the wood. Aaron spent several hours going over all the issues he found. Time was not an issue for Aaron, as he explained the situation to us, he answered all our questions (sometimes twice) and was very polite. Now onto the days of installation, day one, Joe their lead engineer and crew arrived onsite. Joe was polite and knowledge of the job he was there to perform. He stayed in constant contact with me. Walked me through the process they were doing each day. They spent 5 days due to the size of the job. On day 4 is where they had issues, some larger jobs tends to have unexpected complications. The complications are where you will know if you hired a good company or not. As I stated Joe’s continuous communication with me helped me understand their issues and the company’s solutions. They had to call in more support and because this is a family owned company even the owner showed up. They took the time to explain to me what was happening and what they did to fix the issues. They did not charge me the additional material or time. They went above and beyond what most companies would have done. Now I have a solid and dry crawl space and that is all thanks to American Basement Solutions. I had a positive experience and would recommend this company to anyone. **Side note, Joe you where AWESOME! Thank you and Thank you to American Basement Solutions.

Excellent. This experience was the best I have had hiring outside help. After it was installed, I had some concerns and asked Aaron to come by. He came over on a Friday evening and to my surprise, agreed and quickly went above and beyond to remedy the situation. He was understanding and agreed with my concerns. Later I was worried about a sound I was hearing coming from the sump pump. He came up on a Sunday and turned out it was my old pump (not the new one they had installed) that was making the noise. He removed it and clearly explained why it was making the noise. The perimeter drain, pump, and dry well that they installed have all worked great since the installation, which was nearly 9 months ago now. It was very clear making sure a job was completed well and with integrity was important to him. It was comforting to know I was working with a company who valued customer service and doing a job well. Their prices were more reasonable than the 3 other companies I had estimates from. I would definitely use them if needed in the future.

American Basement Solutions came out, and started work for the first half of the job when we weren't home, and then they left before finishing. When we called them, they told us that they would complete the first half of the job if we paid an additional $5,000 because more work needed to be done. We let them know that we wanted the original quoted work, and that was it, and we wanted them to finish it, because we already paid them. We didn't hear from them for a while, and so we called and threatened them with a lawsuit that we never followed through with. AT that point, that came back again when we were not home and finished the first half of the job. We looked in the basement to see what they had done, but because it was primarily in the crawlspace, it was very hard to even tell if them completed any work. I will never be calling them for anything else in the future.
Response from American Basement Solutions
"Rarely in our 3 decade history would we at American Basement Solutions feel the need as we feel we must at this point, but this entire post is bogus, misleading, and inexcusable. We will answer this point by point and will be sending copies and follow-up information regarding this job and these misrepresentations. Point #1.) No work was ever contracted with [Member Name Removed]. We did in fact contract and complete a job at 534 West Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN. with her mother, [Member Name Removed]. (see copies forwarded) Point #2.) The price of the work completed was $3500.00 (discounted from list price of $3950.00) and was not $5,000.00 as specified in this post. (see copies provided, another falsehood) Point #3.) All work contracted for was completed in a timely manner. There was a small delay by a couple of days to finish a portion of her crawlspace due to it being extremely flooded. Our teams are great at completing installations, but cannot work under water with snorkeling equipment. We installed a pump, and came back out immediately when the crawlspace was dry enough to do so, and finished the tiling work. (see dates/copies provided- another falsehood) Point #4.) All work was inspected in February of 2014, started and completed in April of 2014 (Start date April 19th, 2014) and not as represented in this post of “June 5th, 2015" (another misrepresentation-see copies) Point #5.) At time of original proposal [Member Name Removed] (not [Member Name Removed] who’s is the subsequent owner after [Member Name Removed]’s passing) was fully aware that there were more options to be chosen should she need them. (Again see copies provided by American Basement Solutions). We mentioned those other options were possibly digging out another crawlspace area under her home, along with possibly doing some outside drainage work for her if and only if, requested. Point #6.) No-one takes their automobile to Jiffy Lube and when they pay for an oil change then request new tires, and/or paint and body work for free. Our, American Basement Solutions, portion of the contract for $3500.00 was completely fulfilled. To say that additional “uncontracted” for work/requests was not completed is misleading at best. Summary: American Basement Solutions has a 3 decade plus history of time tested, proven solutions to customer’s problems. We consider our reputation for the projects we complete and our client relationships to be of utmost importance. We are providing copies of the afore mentioned project to Angie’s List for their review. Upon Angie’s List representative’s review, we would hope that this post would be removed to due to all the misleading information contained in it, as well as the facts/dates/timeline, etc.… container on the original proposal as seen. We regret that [Member Name Removed] has passed away, as she seemed to be a sweet, “spunky” gal and client of ours. We also regret that [Member Name Removed] has pursued her requests using this incorrect information in a pursuit of? We really don’t know or understand. We will be anxiously awaiting a response from an Angie’s list representative."

It was a small job. They sealed the vents to the crawlspace, then, since there was already solid insulation panels on the walls, put a vapor/moisture barrier, in the form of a tarp, 4 feet wide and as long needed, completely around the crawlspace. It was then sealed to the walls with "nails" and adhesive. This seals the wood frame of the house from the 'Outside", the ground, which is the floor of the crawlspace. A 20 mil thick, quite heavy, "floor" was installed, also in the form of a tarp, It went up the walls about 3 feet and was taped to the 'tarp" on the walls, using a tape made for this application. The piers were wrapped with the same stuff and taped to seal the inside from the outside. the "floor" is also a vapor/moisture barrier, but, heavy enough to walk on if needed. This basically makes the crawlspace another room, rather than the outside. Our house is one year old and was already getting mold on the floor joists. Since the air in the crawlspace will now be heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, just like the rest of the house, the mold and cold (52 degrees) floors we experienced last winter will hopefully be eliminated. We shall see when dumb winter gets here.

They were efficient, very informative, friendly, priced right, and they left everything clean. They did the work based on the best information and our specific situation. This is a regional foundation business, so when you get an estimate you talk to the the people who will actually do the work, instead of a sales rep. I would highly recommend this company for crawl space and foundation work.

Initially, they spent a lot of time looking at the space and they answered all my questions. They devised a good, customized plan for our specific situation. The work was done efficiently and they left everything clean. They are a regional foundation company so when you get an analysis and estimate, you talk to the people who will actually do the work -- and not a dedicated sales rep. We are very happy with the work and I would definitely recommend them to someone wanting crawl space or foundation work.

I called American Basement Solutions with issues I was having in my crawl space and they set up a time for someone to come out and look at the issues. Daniel (a family member of the family that ownes the business) called ahead of time and let me know when he was on his way to my home, He was on time and did a thorough investigation of my crawl spaces after which we discussed what needed to be done and various options to accomplish what I wanted. I was provided with a written estimate, insurance information etc. We scheduled the work at a mutually agreed upon time and his men showed up on time and went right to work completing the work on time.
There was a minor issue with some slight damage to the edge of my cedar siding from the removal of the old crawl space entry. I sent Daniel a photo of the damage via text message and he called me within 15 minutes to discussed a course of action to take care of this, We set a time and Daniel personally came out and took care of the issue. I was happy with the work he did.
I had estimates from 2 other companys prior to contacting American Basement Solutions and found American Basement Solutions to be very competitive with their price. I liked that that they were a locally owned family business and found their assement of what needed to be done very thorough. I would not hesitate to use them again and would recommend them to others.
The person who came out and gave an estimate for the work was very accurate in his measurements and was very courteous. They gave us the lowest quote, so we called a couple of weeks later to set up the time for them to work on it. They came to do the work at the scheduled time. They explained what they would be doing and when they were done showed the work to me. There must have been some lack of communication somewhere because the crew that came to do the work didn't know they would have to be tearing out a couple of walls to get the trench dug out. They did it anyway and everything was installed and working great so far, though we haven't had a rainfall yet. The only complaint that we have is that they left a lot to clean up, but I think that was partly because they hadn't planned on cutting out a couple of walls. The price was so low though that if they had planned on that I think the estimate would have been a lot higher. So for that price, we could do the cleanup without too much complaining. This is a company we would definitely hire again.
American Basement Solutions came in and did a thorough review of the work that needed to be done. Aaron provided a complete overview of what they would do and provided and estimate on the spot. Work was scheduled in a timely manner. All work was completed and repairs were done professionally and according to the estimate. Highly competent and talented individuals who are courteous, customer-oriented and give honest, up-front advice on the work to be done. Individual completing the work did an outstanding job on the project and ensured that the area was cleaned up and looked great. I would highly recommend this company for any basement type work.
The gentleman who showed up to give me the quote was professional and courteous. No problems at all. The company called a few days later to schedule an appointment to perform work. The crew showed up at the appointed time, introduced themselves, and quickly began working. I was honestly surprised at how nice they were. They notified me when they were finished and asked me to come and inspect the crawlspace. I was amazed at how well it looked and how quickly they were done. They had the entire job completed and site cleaned up in 8 hours. The company even called the next day to make sure I was happy with the project! I will definitely be using them again!!!
While working with our insurance company to get this taken care of, we had waited for approx 3 weeks with the smell and everything else going on under our house that I finally took it upon myself to call American Basement Solutions and within a few days the job was completed and we were back to normal but not only back to normal, we were actually better than before because of the crawlspace encapsulation which we learned was a great service for our home in the long run!! From the time they gave us the quote to when the workers showed up to do the job, everyone was so polite and very knowledgable on what they were doing and kept me up to date on what was going on! Like I said before, I will recommend them to anyone I know needs work done in their line of work!!

The job took three days and I was there on day one and three. The first and second day Aaron, Josh and Daniel were working, on day three Larry Jr, Josh and Daniel were there and Aaron came by between some appointments to help out. The guys were GREAT! They took time to answer all of my questions and explain to me how to encapsulate the crawlspace and run underground drains for my downspouts to draw moisture away from the house so I could do it myself to save money. The guys were very professional and only took a couple of breaks. They didn't even take a lunch break on day three and they were here for over 6 hours! The job is done very well and looks so nice. I was down there with them on day three watching and learning. There is no way i could have done this myself. THANK YOU to the team for your hard work and attention to detail. The job site is completely clean and you can't tell I had anything done from the outside. Too bad I can't show it off!!! I cannot say enough good things about this company!

One of the son's of the company owner came in and gave us an estimate. He was very easy to talk with, professional and fully answered our questions. He broke the estimate down into different jobs that they recommended and we decided what we wanted to have done at that time. Our main focus was on stablizing our floors, as we had squeaks, doors that wouldn't close or stay open, etc. The crew, led by another son of the company owner, were at our home for three days and were very professional and understanding of our need to keep dust and dirt in the house to a minimum due to the husband's illness. They took care to clean up and not carry dirt through out the home.

We had an immediate change with doors and floors feeling more stable. The tiled kitchen floor stopped squeaking. They recommended making no changes in wall repair or windows or doors until everything settled fully after three months. We also decided to have the crawl space covered and all vents closed off, which moderates the temperature in the crawl space and cuts down on dirt and bugs getting in. Each day, we got an update on progress and when the job was complete, the crew leader took pictures of the space to show us what had been completed and explained the work that was done.

Although the cost was high, the work done was an obvious advantage to our home. From others we've talked with who have had similar foundation repairs, the cost is always high.
Overall, we were very happy with the company and crew and would recommend it to anyone needing this type of home repair.
