They do not honor their own contract. I need $2100 in HVAC work, and AHS is only paying $235. The "contractor" wants to charge me $1800 for the refrigerant only (10 lbs of R410a), thats not even the labor to install it or fix th issue! Call AHS and all i get is robot/scripted customer service. They should be paying me $1500, but are paying basically nothing. My regular HVAC said repair (without warranty) is $2100, and of that, only $200-$300 is the refrigerant itself. Do not use AHS ever. Always an argument and you will get no where with customer no-service, the Live people are robots with scrips who can't do anything, or won't. They are all owned by Frontdoor, so best to avoid all their subsidiaries which also include Candu Home Solutions, Frontdoor Cayman, Frontdoor Global Holdings, Frontdoor India, Home Security Association (AHS), Landmark Home Warranty, OneGuard in AZ, TX, NV, Selerio Ltd., Stewared of TX, Streem LLC, and US Hazard Disclosure.

Absolute garbage company. AHS fulfills every sleazy insurance company stereotype and then some. They will *charge you* to send out a repair person who is *not* an appraiser before they will even *entertain* sending an appraiser, and they will do everything they can to avoid acknowledging a legitimate claim. Our boiler (from 1976!) is leaking over 900 ppm of carbon monoxide, and burner rollout has charred the side of the unit and back of the gas line valve box so extensively that it is an imminent fire hazard. A claim does not get more legitimate than this. An HVAC tech we spoke to said he used to work for AHS, and warned that almost no one manages to get the coverage promised, and even if we do, the equipment they cover is cheap junk. Countless, useless, scripted conversations with customer service agents at a call center in India certainly have gotten us nowhere. If we even manage to recoup anything, it won't be worth this demoralizing process. Go with literally anyone else but AHS.

I needed the furnace replaced. American Home Shield sent out New Phase Heating and Cooling. They siad it would cost an additional 1722 to get furnace up to code. I said go ahead. New Phase replaced my furnace. A month later I went out to change the filter. To my surprise there was no place to put a filter and no filter in it. When I call American Home Shield they said they do not cover that. I have never heard of a furnace that did not have a filter. i could live with the fact that they were too cheap to supply the filter but noy to install a spot for the Filter. I called New Phase and they said American would not cover the additional cost install the furnace filter compartment. i agreed to pay 200 if they would come out install the compartment. They keep saying they will do it but don't show up or call. All I expect is a spot for my filter on my new furnace. American Home Shield says they will do nothing about it.

I have a contract with AHS for two years. I had a hot water heater explode all over my basement. I filed a service ticket online 6/16. It was assigned a contractor quickly, so I called them to schedule an emergency appointment. They could not get me in until the week of 6/20 (did I mention I have water spewing all over my basement?). I turned off the water, and called AHS back the morning of 6/17. I sat on hold for 1 hour and 38 minutes before having to hang up due to work. I then called AHS back Sunday 6/20 and spoke with two agents (Chris and Christine separately), to gain authorization to choose my own contractor since theirs could not get me in for an emergency appointment. AHS called the contractor who stated they could get me 6/21, and that AHS "did not pay for emergency appointments". I asked again to choose my own contractor since I had an emergency situation, and I had water leaking everywhere in my basement and needed it fixed ASAP. I was told no. I asked if AHS would cover the trim, carpet and drywall that the water was damaging, and I was told that AHS did not cover "secondary damage". I then asked four times to speak to a supervisor. I was told that the supervisors communicate only via email and that a supervisor would call me back within 1 hour. Not surprisingly, I never received a call. I have paid thousands of dollars for a home warranty that will not stand behind their contractual agreement, especially in the case of an emergency situation. I can honestly say this is the worst customer service experience of my life. I will never recommend this company.

I've been with AHS for years. They've been good with most things but for some reason they can't seem to fix a refrigerator. Several years ago I had an issue with a regrigerator that drug on for 10 months until I finally bought a new one. Never fixed the issue, just kept sending the same contrator out and they'd change a different part. The rest of my service has been good until now. In October, we noticed that our refrigerator was leaking on the wooden floor in our kitchen. I opened a ticket and a contractor was assigned. The contrator came out a total of 5 times and replaced various parts First time it was the seal on the freezer but it kept leaking. Next they replaced the heating unit and coil in the freezer but it still leaked. Finally they replaced the coil and heating unit in the refrigerator and that seemed to fix the issue. Six weeks later it started leaking again. Since it had been over 30 days, I had to open (and pay for) another ticket. Again a contractor was assigned. The contractor came out and decided that multiple parts in the refrigerator needed to be replaced. Once again the coil was to be replaced. That was on February 11th and as of now ( March 6th) the contractor has never come back out to install the parts. My AHS ticket shows a status of "parts ordered". I spoke to the contractor and they tell me that they are waiting for parts from AHS. When I talk to AHS they say that the contractor should have the parts. Every time I call AHS, they tell me that they need to talk to the contractor and that they will get back to me. So far I have never received a return call from AHS and I'm still waiting on parts. When I call AHS, I get a person in a call center and all they can do is read from a script. I've asked multiple times to have my issue escalated to someone who can do something about it but they just tell me that they have to talk to the contractor first. AHS is telling me that they haven't been able to get in touch with their contractor. My reply is that if they've been unable to contact their contractor for weeks then that's an issue and something needs to be done about it. The net result is that with the exception of a 6 week period, I've had water leaking from my refrigerator onto the wooden floor in my kitchen and AHS hasn't fixed the issue. I'm not sure why it seems to be refrigerators where I have issues with AHS. As I said, they've been good on most other thing but this is getting ridiculous.

On August 23, 2020 we placed a work order with American Home Shield (AHS) for what we assumed to be a simple repair of our dishwasher. It is currently December 29, 2020 and we are still without a working dishwasher. Weekly, we’ve placed phone calls to AHS and were referred to the following departments: Contract Relations, Management, Authorizations, Supervisors, and Escalation, with the promise of a returned phone call by the aforementioned, to no avail. To reiterate, NO ONE has returned our calls or addressed our concerns for the last four months. Sears, the service contractor responsible for repairing our dishwasher, sent service call notes to AHS no less than three times, stating that they are unable to locate the parts necessary to repair our dishwasher, and have recommended replacement of our appliance. We have recorded and logged most phone calls during interactions with AHS with no resolution. We have been loyal customers of AHS for over 16 years. After witnessing a drastic decline in the level of customer service and satisfaction, we DO NOT recommend this company and will be taking our business elsewhere. American Home Shield’s customer service has severely deteriorated and is beyond acceptable. I would caution anyone seeking home warranty service to abstain from service with American Home Shield. Do your research and read company reviews; you will quickly learn our experience with American Home Shield is not unique to us.

Terrible service!!! Filed a request for service in September 2020. Service technician came out on September 26th2020. Indicated that the part was hard to find but they would return on October 7th 2020 to replace. October 7th came and service technician was a no call no show, I called AHS and they were still locating the part. Today is December 1st and the washer is still broken. (the washer is a 2017 Samsung) I have called the customer service department several times (12 time) and the call center in the Philippines is nice but does not know what to do. I have also tried multiple times to reach an onshore call center and they do not exist unless you want to buy a service contract. Unfortunately my house has a main floor laundry and the water has leaked under the porcelain tile and destroyed the sub-floor.

Terrible! Have had warrant for several years paying approximately 540.00 annually. Service request was made on 11/21/2020 for oven repair and only available provider was 11/28/2020 between 10 and 2 pm. No holiday baking , waited home all day Sat and call repair service, "Master Pro" and they have no record of scheduled repair for Saturday despite having a text and email confirming such! Told to call American Home Shield to get expedited , American Home Shield refused to pay for an emergency technician and merely reschedule for next week. Prior service provider damaged our carpet by not putting down a mat when repairing our dryer...just let it go, abysmal! Don't use American Home Shield, we are getting out as soon as can....was foolish to keep so long!

It didn't; never got service. Beware, Awful Service! 1 star because a 0 star is not an option. I have tried to give this company a chance, unfortunately, they continue to have horrible customer service and unable to reach a supervisor after my 6th call to get service dispatch for an electrical problem in my house. I have had AHS for over 3 years, since I purchased my house; sorry, I had to go shopping for a different company who cares for their customers! But yet, I see why, there are so many reviews like mine for this company, poor service, not worth the money of you spending the time on the phone to try and get service. After storm [ETA] went thru central Florida las week, 11/11/20, I lost power in 2 rooms of my house and a breaker went off on the fuse box. I called American Home Shield on 11/12/20 to get service and as of today, 11/17/20 I’m still waiting for a company to address the issue. I have called on 11/12, spoke to Don, 11/13, spoke to Michael and then again to Andrew, 11/16 I spoke to Denise @8:35am and then to Maribel @ 1:15pm and today 11/17, I spoke to Anton @9:00am; and every time you call, you can expect to be on the phone no less than 45 minutes to an hour. I have also called the company assigned to service my house, (GIT Georgia), who never contacted me back to address the problem. I ended up canceling the service call; evidently my problem does not appear to be important to (AHS). I called an electrician myself; they will be here within 48 hours! AHS, seems to be vey quick to withdraw your monthly payment from your account BUT, when you need service, they give you the run round. It is the worse service to have to wait 3 weeks for someone to even schedule you for a visit, not to mention, many of the subcontractors are unprofessional and don't care and they keep you waiting for weeks to fix the problem. This should be a zero-star review! Absolute worst company ever. This place is an absolute joke and I'm surprised that they are still in business, let alone have any type of positive reviews. AHS, you have lost 3 customers in a week, my sister, my brother and my account and I will continue to give my reviews to anyone interested in getting a home warranty through you. Another very dissatisfied customer!

Company sub contracts to companies to do the work. The company they sent to my house to repair my lights admittedly blew out the transformer in one of my ceiling fans. Apparently my warranty doesn't cover replacing fans, so they denied coverage. But company damaged the fan. My complaint has gone to a supervisor, to the Escalation Department, and to Contractor Relations. It has been seven phone calls, hours on the phone, and several weeks to no avail. They stated they promise to stand by their work- they damaged my home and I am not getting anywhere.

Horrible. Assigned to me from American Home Shield which I am cancelling. Flowright is rude and unprofessional - "I tried calling you 5 times already" which was not true and their voice mail is not set up, so how do i return their calls if they don't answer and have no voice mail?? They don't answer emails either! Also incredibly unprofessional complaining about "cry babies" worrying about COVID19; and they were no show twice for appointments with no call or apologies. So that's all about Flowright. As for the home warranty company that assigned them to me - American Home Shield - they are equally awful. A scam really. I called them to complain and they emailed Flowright and said if i don't hear back to call them again. I called Flowright a second time and their idea of "escalating" the resolution was to tell me to call Flowright again - the same plumber that already no showed on me twice. Ridiculous and a scam.

I suspect many of us that have had a poor experience w/AHS could write a novel (or at least a blog). My write up is long but the summary is, the service is so poor, their claims fraudulent, the companies they work with so incompetent (I think they treat AHS like 2nd class citizens), that my tenant sent me a notice they were going to vacate the property and threatened to sue me. If you want to take a chance w/AHS for your own home despite all the blistering reviews go for it, but for a rental, be very careful because the implications are so much more profound. Run don't walk from this company for your rentals. I purchased AHS for both my personal home and a rental to take some of the hassle factor out of owning both homes. Instead I compounded my problems 100 fold by turning the routine process of calling a company, having them fix it and them your paying the bill into one of waiting over one hour each time to speak to a customer service rep, these employees LYING about what they can do to resolve your issue (so they can get you off the phone I guess), having to work w/the worst companies imaginable. Poor service, they never fix the issue correctly the first time, and you go on this perpetual roller coaster ride and in the end you jump off and think "my time and life is not worth this hassle. I'm just going to call my own company, have this simple problem fixed and cancel my membership." NOTHING is worth this aggravation. They have one exception after another so in the end you are barely covered but as many other reviewers have stated, the most egregious part is that they must know they are working with companies that are barely licensed, completely incompetent and they can't offer/won't any resolution. A/C repair: My a/c issues began last year 2019. The unit was switching on/off. 1st technician said, it's the capacitor - good thing you called, I'll swap this out (and you can pay me extra and I'll clean your other unit). Next day, problem didn't go away. They send someone else - it's your wiring. I'll fix it but you really should get a new unit. Your company won't cover as they want to repair your units till they collapse, but here's my quote. $12K for a unit that is about $6K from other companies (one thing you'll notice is that any out of pocket estimate from a contractor AHS sends is much higher than the industry standard). By this time, fall had come around (it takes time to schedule these multiple appts and they don't come out quickly), and the A/C unit was no longer needed. Next year, tenant says same issue. I call, new company says "your breaker doesn't have enough amperage." We check, it's got PLENTY OF amperage - 40 or higher/I've forgotten. By this time, they had left, they had closed out the ticket and I re-opened and they closed it out again and said call us directly. They come out again (there were many other things that happened w/this company concerning scheduling, etc. but it took close to a month to get them back out) and of course check the electrical panel and I told them "it's got the correct amps." They go back up, look for an hour and say "you need a new compressor." They can't work on this. Apparently they submit the claim to AHS, and AHS sends them the parts. WOW! These parts don't get over nighted either. 5 days later I was still waiting. I guess this is part of how AHS controls costs. Later that night, the tenant calls to say the a/c isn't working at ALL. I call at 7 and the company (YAZD Mechanical) states "we can't come out, because once a repair request goes in, we can't be liable to touch the machine in." In what industry are you allowed to leave something in worse shape and then won't come back to fix? I had an a/c that was working but intermittently cutting off to one that wasn't working at ALL. I call AHS laying out this whole ordeal. I also forgot to mention I have an R-22 unit which means I would have to pay over $1000 for the refrigerant. I told AHS, I wouldn't mind because it's part of the agreement but you are sending companies that don't know what they are doing AND is damaging my units. How do I know a compressor repair is going to work? Why would I pay $1K when it may not resolve the issue and no one is going to refund the money. The customer svc rep listened and talked to her managers, her name was Mary, and indicated they were so sorry, they understand how many mistakes had happened w/my requests and mgmt went ahead and ordered a full HVAC replacement. I was supposed to get an email in 3 days stating two options - they would replace the unit w/their company or b, I could select a cash out. I was so grateful for her help and thought - finally! 3 - 5 days later no email. I talked w/the initial rep on Mon. On Fri I call to check in (did I mention the one hour wait times to speak to a live person)? The person says my request has been expedited - I should get an answer ASAP. BTW, one sentence in this review takes an hour over the phone to address so know that most of your discretionary time is going to spent on the phone. Sat morning, no email so I call again. After an hour wait, someone answers, we speak through the issue and she states, well it states that you requested a cash out for your compressor because you didn't want the refrigerant and there is nothing about the new H/VAC so call this other number and they will tell what the cash out is. WHAT? Where is this coming from? I asked them "pull the audio recording. Your company records calls, Mary the rep said at least 10 times, you are approved for a NEW H/VAC system." The rep said it would take more than 24 hours but in the meantime to call the HVAC replacement dept to get my options. I said no, because your notes clearly incorrectly states any pay out is going to be for a compressor. I was verbally assured I would receive a new HVAC unit given the fact that for over a year I had to deal w/this issue, they couldn't resolve, this YAZD Mechanical comp which magnified the issue by breaking my unit, etc. etc. I even said, I can tell you just want to pass me on the next unit. She assured me she would look into it, would call me back the next day, hopefully Aug 2nd. We'll see. She did say if a rep from our company promised you a new HVAC you should receive that. There are so many issues w/this company it boggles the mind. They work w/the worst companies as mentioned, their customer service reps may have nice personalities and sound very accommodating but some of them are outright liars; their employees are committing FRAUD and no one seems outraged by this. So this is just one story, I have others but I don't have the energy to write anymore and I think you've gotten the point by now. My sister had 4 rentals, I have the 2 and I am still waiting for a final call back tomorrow but if this doesn't get resolved, I am going to call her and have her cancel.

Contracted from American Home Shield, My water heater was leaking from the drain valve, when am pm plumbing came over instead of fixing my leaking water heater he stated he'll be back tomorrow to put a cap on it. I told him it needed a new drain valve and he disagreed stating all it needs to be capped. First of all capping the drain valve is not advised since it can cause an explosion if the tp valve malfunctions. So he never returned and I had to fix my water heater myself by replacing the drain valve. American Home Shield did not honor their warranty so I cancelled immediately after that incident. The company they sent me was totally incompetent in fixing my water heater. And they didn't offer me another company to fix it and American Home Shield refused to refund my $100 service fee. TWO COMPANIES I ADVISE TO KEEP AWAY FROM AM PM PLUMBING AND AMERICAN HOME SHIELD HOME WARRANTY.

I have a valid home warranty. Traveling internationally to come home to a broken furnace and 40 degrees in my home. When I called they opened a claim, but the service agent was too busy to come until the following week. They said unless its an emergency, they would not do a after-hours service. I called AMS and they said unless it was in the 20s its not an emergency. Now it was in the 30s. I called a new service agency and paid out of pocket. I called back to get reimbursed, and they refused. This is a scam!!!!!!!

IT IS THE WORST NIGHTMARE- READ THIS. 1- For every service call, you have to pay $100 which is $108( with tax). 2- they sent their subcontractor to evaluate, and they are paid by AHS; 3- Communication afterward is beyond ridiculous. If you have something simple a moron can do, this is the place or you can do it yourself.; 4- The agreement specifies "parts" vs. "services", but when its time to pay, they make the decision and arbitrarily. They told me that the parts and labor is X, and I had to pay the contractor $2700 out of pocket. Or, I can do a cash out for $1700 toward purchase and hiring my own contractor. I opted to hire the AHS delegated contractor and he was a scam. He did no work, no calls, and I had already given him out of pocket costs. AHS response is that since I am not suing this crook, the crook will pick up the delivered furnace...they mix up the products ( parts) and services. The agreement is ridden with omissions and customer service representatives are morons. After 2 months, I am out $2700, and they still have not returned the money from the vendor but instead told me they will send the crooked vendor to pick up the furnace that they delivered b/c I am not using their vendor. The contract is between AHS and me- not the vendor. When I complained about this vendor, they did not respond and they do not even have the make or model number in their files......I made another request, paid for it and let's see.... FINE PRINT. GO AND LOOK AT IT I. IT DOES NOT HAVE DEDUCTIBLES, OR SCHEDULES. ALL THEIR DISCRETION.

Working with American Home Shield has literally been the worst customer experience I have ever had....and I am 48 years old. They have sent 2 repair technicians to my home to fix my refrigerator, and both have been able to do so. The first repairman clearly said that the unit needed to be replaced. Instead, I had to wait 6 days and take ANOTHER day off of work (Thanksgiving Week with entire extended family in town and without a refrigerator) only to have another repairman unable to fix it. Now, I am waiting another 4 days and taking ANOTHER day off work for a 3rd repairman to come. American Home Shield has done everything possible to avoid doing the right thing. This is a dishonest company and I would highly recommend finding another company if you are in the market for this time of insurance.

AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay.
