Find a Newly Constructed Home (Older, Established Neighborhood)
If you want your time and money to just go down the drain and have your hopes destroyed, hire these con artists. Incompetent and frustrating. Months after they should have completed our home rebuild, we had to fire them for still trying to get the foundation and framing done. Having to pay tens of thousands to redo shoddy work. We are 13 months after signing and going to our municipality court to testify in 4 building violations they?ve ignored for months while they rack up fines. I?ve submitted a complaint to NJ Division of Consumer Affairs and we?ll probably have to fight these guys in arbitration to try and recoup what they?ve cost us. We lost our house to a fire, so this doubly frustrating being displaced that much longer. Greg DONOFRIO only answers the phone when he?s taking your payments and is a pathological liar. Issues aren?t resolved, used as excuse to stop work.Do yourself a favor and find a different contractor, avoid the absolute nightmare this company is to deal with.

DO NOT HIRE AMERICAN PLATINUM! If you see the name "Greg Donofrio" associated with the company, don't hire them. In fact, if you see Donofrio at all, I'd stay away just to be safe. We had to fire these clowns, 16 months after we signed the contract with them, and 10 months after the work was supposed to be completed (as stated in the contract). They are incompetent at best, scam artists at worst. It doesn't matter what is in your contract, if there is a corner they'll find a way to cut it. They have 2 tools at their disposal, time and your money. I think as a rule of thumb, any time you bring up a flaw in their work they stop work, wait a month, then half-*** address it. If the contract states R15 insulation, you'll get R13. If the contract states 14 SEER AC unit, you'll get a 13 SEER. Ask for oil based poly, they'll put on water based. If the contract states Benjamin Moore paint, who knows what they'll put on your wall. If the contract states they won't flood your house, they'll flood your house anyway. In general, even outside of the mistakes their craftsmanship is just poor. The floors are covered with edger swirl and gaps due to insufficient acclimation time, the mud and tape job looked bad when it was new, and after a year already are showing signs of failure, collar ties that are unlevel enough to show through the sheetrock, floor holes added for radiator plumbing that look like they were cut with a sawzall, insulation voids all over the place, trash thrown under the floor (including beer cans!). Don't be fooled by the number of good ratings they have, look closely and count the number of "grout $99 A+ would hire again" reviews on Angies list.

We were just as upset and addressed this immediately. Now as for us drinking in the house, that's the furthest thing from the truth. We do not drink on the job sites while working in a homeowners house. Our company would never tolerate this. We reached out to the homeowner regarding this review and expressed our apologies for the negative experience with our company. We also offered to make things right with the opportunity to provide free services for some home improvements. Greg and his guys came in and demoed my kitchen in 1 day. They kept everything very clean. They were super respectful and everything came out better than I imagined. Love my new granite center island. Highly recommend them for any home remodeling!

We are very pleased with final result. All subcontractors used were professional. We did not anticipate how long it would take but realize it was difficult to coordinate subcontractors. We love our new kitchen and open space. We can all work together now and enjoy our guests when they visit.

I had to install a 15 foot 400 lb beam in one of my ceilings where I took down a wall. I called 5 different local construction companies to see if i could get some help, Only one even responded to my calls and emails, and that was Greg at American Platinum Remodeling. Greg and Anthony and Marcel showed up 2 days later as promised and completed the job quickly and easily. They were knowledgeable and courteous and efficient. Most importantly, they did exactly what they said they were going to do - thanks guys!

My husband and I couldnt say anything but great things about Greg and his team. My husband is a combat Veteran and I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids and 1 being a special needs child. This is our first home and when we moved in it was like problem after problem kept happening. Our basement flooded, our front stairs crumbled and collapsed and our windows were rotted through. The VA didn't protect us from buying a money pit. Needless to say all of our money went into fixing problems rather than doing the remodeling we wanted to do. When Greg found out we were in some trouble and needed help he came through right away! He sent his plumber over and had him do all of the plumbing we needed for a new bath/kitchen for basically the cost of parts!!! It was unbelieveable! And lifted a HUGE burden off of our shoulders! On top of that Greg also said he can help us out with anything else we need to do! This is such a professional and wonderful business! THEY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! I would give them 10 stars and recommend to eveyone!

I am pleased with the results. I would hire them again. Greg is easy to work with and has a good personality for this type of work. He remains calm and professional even when issues arise (as they will and do with any bigger construction project). You will be able to work through them with him. Pricing is fair and reasonable.

I called American Platinum Remodeling to originally get a quote on new siding for my home. I explained I was on a strict budget but really was in need of a makeover. I met with the owner Greg who suggested we paint the house and we could save thosands of dollars rather than replacing the siding. I was blown away at his suggestion. Most companies have attempted to up sell me rather than care about saving me and my family money. I knew at that moment Greg and his company was the team we would be hiring. Greg promised he would have my house finished by the holiday and he delivered on his promise. He was here everyday making sure drop cloths were down and everyone knew my expectations. These guys transformed my home into something I'm proud of. Several of my neighbors were in shock regarding the transformation. It actually brought me to tears at one point. I'm so happy and thankful I met and hired American Platinum Remodeling. I'm now proud to walk out of my house. I can't say enough about this company. I highly recommend them to anyone that's searching for a company you can trust and live by their word.

I called American Platinum Remodeling to provide a estimate for a basement renovation. We had to renovate a 1500sq basement, adding a kitchen and bathroom for my in laws. This was a grueling process trying to find the right contractor for the job. I met with Greg and I was immediately impressed. He was extremely responsive and knowledgeable when it came to my needs and desires. He provided a estimate within a few days and we came to a agreement a week later. Greg took the time to make drawings so I can see on paper what my investment would look like. The work started within a month and was finished in 3 months. Greg took care of all the inspections and was a pleasure to deal with during the whole renovation. All of his workers were professional and all took pride in their work. I’m so happy I chose to hire American Platinum Remodeling and highly recommend them to anyone that’s looking for a outstanding company that you can trust.

The price would have been good if they would have done the work good, but they didn't. For what they did the price was bad, because now we have to pay someone else to fix it. They talked the game, but they didn't deliver. Avoid them.

"Thank you for your review and feedback. We appreciate it and always strive to improve our services. For your foyer renovation we were hired to demo all walls and install new pocket doors. We removed all debris, sheetrock, spackled, and painted the area. We did not hear any complaints regarding this work. I was called one evening by the homeowner in which she was expressed her concern regarding the pocket doors. I explained the work was not completed and we still had wood filler that needed to be sanded. After the doors are sanded we would paint the new doors and the installation would be complete. I also explained I would never leave her home until she was 100 percent satisfied with the work. I attempted to make contact with the homeowners several times, however, only to be ignored. It was very hard to communicate with the homeowner about any issues or concerns because they were never expressed to me in the end. Our company does not like to leave any customer unsatisfied and I even attempted to contact her again regarding any work she was not satisfied with. I still received no response. I wasn't aware she was not satisfied with the finish work because she never expressed it to me. The offer still stands for us to come out and do anything you want fixed. We just need some type of communication during the renovation so we know if our customers our not happy with something. We are still willing to come to your home and fix anything you want to your satisfaction. Thank you again for your review and we will always strive to improve our services."

I've used American Platinum in the past for larger projects and I am always happy. This time, I had a small project, but I knew I needed a professional to do it right. I reached out to Greg and within a minute he responded. Fast forward a few days and I have beautiful and complete fireplace. Greg and the guys at American Platinum have always done excellent work. Greg is always my first call.

I usually don’t post reviews but I felt that after the fantastic job that Greg Donofrio had done, I must. I think most people are fearful of doing a home renovation project, as there are many stories out there about how the contractor had not done what he promised, raised pricing during the job, or just not doing things right. I had walked into this project with the same trepidation as others, but did my research and after meeting with Greg a few times, hired him for the renovation job. I am glad to say that it was a terrific decision, and I could not have asked for a better person and company. He was always attentive, performed a stellar job, and had kept to the cost of the job. In fact, when I did have to alter the job, because of some unforeseen issues, his cost was more then fair. My home now is beautiful, the experience with Greg, and his team was excellent, and cannot recommend him more.

The contractor renovated a kitchen and basement. If your looking for a reliable and trustworthy company look no further. APR did such a amazing job from beginning to end their services were amazing. All I can say is VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! Greg was a pleasure to deal with and communicated with me during the entire renovation. All of his workers were great and were so pleased with the overall experience with APR. We are hiring them to do our addition at the end of the year. Also, Greg is easy on the eyes. ?
