There were basic deficiencies in the work that were not caught by any quality control procedure, and the vendor did not take responsibility for it. Amore was a subcontractor to a contractor/builder that was equally inept at quality control and at recognizing mistakes.

The bathroom drainage rough-in was not adequately sloped and would not have met code had the WSSC inspector bothered to look. Vanity faucets were not installed squared and lacked insulation material between the hardware and counter top. The soldering on a new copper pipe joint leaked and had to be replaced by another plumber. Perhaps Amore's biggest flaw was the inability to concede problems and simply move on by fixing them promptly.

Amore is unethical and completely ripped me off on this job.  For a (literally) 15 minute job, they charged me a rate $700+/hour for labor, plus a 100% mark-up on the retail price of the part.  I gave Amore the opportunity to explain the alarming price and to address my concerns, but they offered no reasonable explanation.  I asked HomeAdvisor (the website I used to find a plumber) to intervene or mediate, but they did nothing.  I strongly advise my fellow homeowners to avoid shady business practices by avoiding Amore Enterprises.  I also question the value of HomeAdvisor now that I conclude that their emphasis is on providing leads to contractors, not on protecting homeowners.  I am perfectly willing to (and have tried to) talk to both Amore and Home Advisor to come to a better conclusion for this case, but neither has shown interest in addressing my concerns.  My only recourse is to share my experience in hopes that others are more careful and less trusting than I was.  I provide a quick description of my experience with Amore, LLC below.  <br />   <br /> When I described the symptoms, the master plumber immediately guessed that my problem was an old pressure reducing value in need of replacement.  He refused to give a ballpark estimate because some jobs are more complicated than others.  But I asked him, ?do you charge parts & labor, or do you charge by the job??  He responded that he would invoice me for PARTS AND LABOR.  A couple of days later a plumber showed up at my house.  After 5 minutes in my basement he called me at work to say that it was in fact the pressure reducing valve and that he had the part in the truck.  He estimated that it would cost about $450.  10 minutes later he was packed up and gone.   <br /> Based on the price, the amount of time it took was far, far less than I expected, so I got suspicious.  I did some research based on the serial number on my new part and learned that the retail price for the part is about $75.  Other searches suggested that the total cost (including parts and labor) for this repair should have been in the $100-$200 range for my area (about $200 for complex jobs with the valve completely inaccessible behind a wall or hot-water-heater).  When I got home I looked at the invoice to look at the parts/labor breakdown, and I found out that the plumber did not provide the promised breakdown.  He only gave me a bottom-line number. <br /> I called the master plumber back to ask why it cost so much, and he actually launched into a rant suggesting that he directly incorporates costs like fuel, mileage, and the special tools required for his business into my price.  I found this highly irregular, but I asked for the detailed breakdown (by parts and labor) so that I could understand specifically what I was being charged for.  He has refused to provide this basic information to date. <br /> Amore was unethical because they committed to me that they would be charging the job as parts and labor.  Then they switched to pricing per-job without factoring the actual parts and labor when they saw how easy mine was to replace.  Had it been a difficult and involved repair I have no doubt they would have charged parts and labor to maximize their take.  It is not ethical to agree on parts and labor then to switch when you realize it is to your advantage, which is what Amore did.  I gave them more than three weeks? time to provide explanation, reassurance or any indication that I had been treated fairly before providing this negative feedback, but they have not done anything.   <br /> Please buyer, beware ? these people are rip-off-artists who are not to be trusted. <br />

Good price but did not follow through on getting permit or getting WSSC to inspect the gas connections. I asked if they would get permit and have it inspected for this price and Jeff said "Yes, sir". I will now call WSSC and report them. Very poor communication and they did not even leave a card with contact information. That's too bad because they did a good job otherwise but I can't feel safe with this install until WSSC inspects the gas connections. <br />

Jeff identified the cause of the leak immediately and had it repaired within minutes! No one ever wants to have plumbing problems, but I'm glad I found Amore Enterprises and will continue to call on them for all my plumbing needs. <br />

Arrived within the time promised.  Did the job quickly, no problems, left site clean, no clutter, no cleanup needed.  The 2 workers were polite, agreeable. <br />

<p>They were kind enough to put a cloth tarp down in the foyer where recent flooring had been installed.  They worked professionally and quickly.  They answered all my questions and explained their work.  I will be expecting this heater to last a long time and can't comment on the brand. A.O.Smith, yet. I did pay more for this "upgraded" (from the Giant brand) water heater. </p> <br />

If looking for someone to do the job quickly or special color.  I wouldn't recommend, otherwise use them.  I broke my toilet on the 13th of November, it took the firm until 3 December tp replace.   Granted there was a holiday in there but the time limit was horrible The replacement went well and I have no complaints about the final product.   I would recommend that they keep in stock a couple of standard colors as not to take as long. <br />   <br /> It will cost me between $8,000.00 and $14,000.00 to replace the ruined drywall and electric in my dining room.  Plus I had to threaten once to get the firm to reply. <br />

The day of service, I recieved a call because the service men were ahead of schedule, but I was not at home.  They still arrived and waited for me to return, and when I did finally get home, they promptly began working.  It took exactly the time estimated for the job.  There was one hiccup: the wiring was installed in such a way that a little bit of wear on the protective sheath occurred.  They had to return the next day after the circuit shorted out because of the wiring issue.  They did promptly return and fix the water heater, which has been working perfectly ever since.  They were polite and answered several of my questions about what they doing and what code required. <br />

I am absolutely delighted. Quick response to our initial inquiry, outstanding customer service by Lindsey in setting up the appointment and answering our many questions, and punctual and professional installation by the technicians - the whole thing took less than an hour. Great company, great people. <br />

Really, I was amazed how well it went. price point is much lower than the others, customer service and the quality of the install is miles above the others. <br />

<p>It went very well. Jeffrey Morrissey (master plumber & gas fitter) was able to locate the leak point that cause water to seep down from the inside of the back basement wall to the outside in a vertical fashion. We discovered the leak on the outside wall after turning on the water hose for the first time in the Spring. We also got 5 min of help to check our sump pump too (nothing wrong there. Just got a quick lesson on how to check if it's still working even though we have not heard it run for years).</p> <p>He ended up cutting out the copper portion where there was a hole & clamped the other part for the fix. So far so good - it's holding well. It was found that that area was in need of additional insulation. With the extreme temps this past year, the hose bib line ended up with a hole (we've lived in the home for almost 20 yrs & this is the 1st time we had trouble). He left the drywall opening for us to repair since we needed to add more insulation (used spray foam around the repair site). </p> <p>Jeffrey Morrissey was on time and the first to respond via Home Advisor search; was friendly/easy to work with, helpful, careful about our home. No complaints. I saw that he was not on Angie's List, so we're hoping our good service experience will add his company on this list. Good service!</p> <br />
