Frank Monroe came over and was very personable. He led us to believe that he was going to do our bathroom remodel and had us sign a contract. He took our money and then avoided contact. After CASHING our check, he finally lets us know that "he was having trouble" and was bankrupt. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN! We are not the only victims!

Frank was very responsive when coming out to give the quote and schedule the work. Franks sons were the same. They came out and got the crew started and made some good suggestions. However, they did not stay with the crew to ensure a good job, nor did Frank or his sons come back to see the completed job. From a distance the job looks fine. Up close you can see where they drilled baluster holes in the wrong place on the stair tread, then patched them. The overall fit and finish was not good. I suspect the cost to repair the damage they did to the treads will be higher than the installation cost. I asked Frank, repeatedly, to come out to see what kind of work his installers did but he never came back. I think stairs and rails require a level of skill that Frank's crew does no possess.

Once again, AMS Home Remodeling, Frank, was able to clean up my mess. After ordering a closet organizer unit online. I made the mistake of hiring another company to install the units - 3 total (2 reach in and 1 master). This original company did not know what they were doing and caused me nothing but more problems (i.e. holes in walls, damaged pieces from closet unit that needed to be replaced, etc). Frank was able to make time in his all ready busy schedule to come out to take a look at the mess. He was able to get me into the schedule and complete the install and all repairs from previous contractors by the end of the week. Frank and his crew (Bruno plus 1) did more than an outstanding job. Final product is amazing. I have used AMS Home Remodeling for a complete makeover in my home and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for an honest dependable contractor. I absolutely LOVE these guys.
Frank - thank you!!!!
Frank was great to work with and for the most part everything went very well and my wife and I were very happy with the end results.
Things started off slightly bumpy because, unfortunately, Frank got sick the week we were supposed to begin the work so we had to push things off for a week. I totally understand that stuff like this happens so we just rolled with it. It was not such a huge deal except we had to coordinate with our dog sitter to shift things by a week. I think Frank gave us a little bit of a discount though because of the inconvenience so no harm done.
The first few days started with demoing our old bathroom entirely and building out the space into what was previously a small alcove in between our old bathroom and walk-in closet. We felt like it was wasted space that could be better used by the bathroom. This process was done very quick and professionally by Franks team headed by his foreman Renzo. We felt very comfortable working with his team because they were always very friendly and helped us to solve a few minor issues here and there (e.g. where to put light switches and electrical outlets)
Once the frame for the new bathroom was completed, they started to install the shower and lay down tile. Frank was nice enough to let us use some tile we had already purchased from Costco for the shower walls and bathroom floor. We picked out some other tile from the tile shop for the shower floor and decorative lining on the shower walls that Frank procured for us. All of this went very well and once the tile was in we were already immediately happy to see how nice it looked.
We had also pre-purchased a vanity from Costco as well that had a huge crack in the marble top that Frank pointed out to us when we un-boxed it. Frank was nice enough to delay until we could get a replacement delivered to us which took about two weeks.
While waiting on the new vanity, Frank's team started on replacing the entire upstairs carpeting. We had this really old 1980's baby blue color carpet that was pretty horrible and wearing down. We chose a very nice modern charcoal color instead. Frank had a different team of guys to do the carpet work and they were equally as nice. They were very careful when dismantling and moving any furniture in order to strip out and replace the carpet in each room. I was concerned with the furniture being moved and possibly damaged so Frank was nice enough to schedule the work on a Saturday and Sunday so I could be there to supervise and make sure everything went smoothly. As I said though, his men were very nice and seemed to know what they were doing so it wasn't really a problem. The carpet ended up looking and feeling great.
Once the fixed vanity came in, Franks team did a very good job being careful getting it up the stairs even though it barely fit and was very heavy. I was very worried about it getting damaged going upstairs and his team were experts getting it safely into the new bathroom. The only complaint I had with the vanity installation was that the floor ended up not being level and therefore the vanity was also not 100% leveled. It was only slightly off though so it wasn't too much of a bother. The only way you can really tell is by looking at the vanity mirrors on the wall above it that are perfectly leveled. Regardless, the overall bathroom looked fantastic and we are very happy with it.
I will attach pictures of the before and after of everything so you can see what a good job they did.
I would overall recommend Frank because he was very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to work with.
AMS were professional and easy to work with and did a good job on our new bathroom.
Only one hiccup during the job: They damaged the baseboard heater and it had to be replaced. They did charge me for the replacement unit itself, but not for the installation.

Frank is definitely not your typical contractor. He actually calls you back, emails you when you send him a note and texts back when you just need a quick answer to something. He's proactive with the timeline and finishes the job on time. From the moment my husband and I sent AMS an email, we knew he was going to be great - then I met him, and instantly liked and trusted him. When we weren't sure what to do with layout, floor choices/finishing options, etc. he was on point with his advice and we're so glad we listened to him.
We initially thought we could handle the electric (there were NO lights in the ceiling), but after further examination, we last minute decided to use his electricians - they were there the next day. What's great is that for each step in the project, he had a lot of guys just bust the work out. Most things were done within a day or two, and the 2-3 week timeline for everything, start to finish was spot on.
We can't wait to tackle the kitchen next and throw Frank as much business as we possibly can. I've worked with a LOT of contractors, and the quality of work, overall responsiveness, and reasonableness in pricing is just not something I thought we could get all in one contractor. We highly recommend AMS!!!

AMS got my permit for me and was able to closely match my vinyl siding and roof shingles. It took a few days but one was because of rain. They also replaced my front gutters to fit in with my new portico.

The new portico blends well with the house and AMS took care that the new materials they used went well with the old materials. They cleaned up every day and after the job was finished. My old portico slanted down and dripped rain and snow on my front steps. The new one is a Gable roof and makes a big difference on snow days.

AMS handled al the Montgomery County inspections and the final approval.

The kitchen turned out better than I could have imagined and was a completely gutted down to the original floorboards. As part of the remodel a wall was taken out in the kitchen to open it up, the existing pantry was moved to make room for the new refrigerator, and the pantry was relocated to another location in the kitchen. Old fluorescent track lighting was removed and recessed lighting was added. Additionally we removed the outdated plant window over the sink and replaced it with a new, modern, more insulated window. Wood floors were added to the kitchen as well as throughout the entire first floor.
The master bath was also fully gutted and enlarged to allow for a larger shower with frameless doors, new, larger vanity and soaking tub and bathroom window was also replaced.
As any remodeling project goes, unanticipated problems pop up and we certainly had our share with this old house. AMS was very fair in analyzing how best to resolve the problem at hand and also containing the unanticipated costs.
The kitchen and bath remodel were completed about a month ago and we are now in the process of working on Phase II, updating the hall bathroom / shower and replacing the carpet on the steps with wood steps and an updated banister. Thanks to AMS, our house is now a place we call home and we thoroughly enjoy spending time in our new kitchen and bathroom

All of the work was excellent, everyone was punctual and professional. We had a certain budget, and Frank was able to work with it and not try to sell us upgrades that we did not want. He offered great ideas and worked really hard to find us a beautiful entry door that met our budget. The cabinet install went very smoothly, every effort was made to contain the mess and everything was cleaned up afterwards. I will be calling AMD Home Remodeling again for any big projects we have in the future. Highly recommend!!
We couldn't be happier with Frank and his crew. We bought our home two months ago and found a great deal of problems shortly after we moved in. Originally, we had AMS come for an estimate in remodeling an old bathroom. We were ready to use him for the remodel, however, shortly after moving in, things began to break around the house. (The home is from 1962 and is mostly original). Frank came back out and gave us the best estimate for the work that was needed. His crew came out in one day and completed both jobs.
The estimate provided was the best price out of 4 contractors that we met with. The price included labor plus materials. However, labor was not long as he had originally estimated. So instead of charging us what was on the contract, (which he could have easily done) he gave us an invoice, which was under the original contract.
We were very pleased with AMS and have already used them scheduled to complete additional work at one of our rental properties.

I called his company to give me an estimate on replacing a front portico and after receiving his estimate and a couple more I realized I needed to put some more money aside. While he was there I asked if he could replaced my 32 year old deck boards and stairs.

I got an estimate for the deck which was more than reasonable and signed the contract. Within two weeks his crew was at my house and finished the job in one day. I asked if they could stain the deck and railings and he said it would be no problem. A couple of weeks later my deck was stained and again it was done in a day. The deck staining was $560 extra but the old deck looks like new.

The contractor came out a few days after I called him and sent me an estimate for the work in a couple of days. The crew who replaced the old boards and stairs were very friendly and kept me informed of what they were doing. All the work was done in a day and then I asked them if they could stain the deck and railings.

Their price was very reasonable and that work was done in one day also. They pressured wash the deck and came back to finish the staining.

I also got an estimate for them to replace my front portico but I put that on hold for awhile.

As reflected in the ratings above, in general, we were very pleased with the work by AMS.

In particular, their interior painting and bathroom renovation work were superb. Other components of the renovation were good as well.

The owner, Frank, was cordial and professional. As an example, he was well versed in working with the stairway and made good suggestions, while respecting our thoughts. He even worked with a new subcontractor for the stairway railing and glass that seemed to have the better proposal than the one he usually uses.

The AMS crew members who worked on the basement, stairway, painting and bathroom were courteous and responsive to changes and suggestions. They also "cleaned up" their work area each day. They seemed to be a happy bunch, and at times we could hear one of them singing (pretty well :-) while working in the basement.

I suppose the best measure of a renovation company would be whether we would request their services again. The answer would be a resounding "Yes"!

As usual, it was a wonderful experience! Frank and the guys stayed in touch throughout the whole process. It was tricky because the work was done at a rental property. We had to get our tenants to move all the furniture from upstairs to downstairs or outside. We also had to keep them off the floors and stairs while the poly dried. Frank was wonderful, working his crews around our schedules to minimize disruption to our tenants. AMS crews helped replace the furniture, then all the downstairs stuff had to go in the garage while he put in carpet. I felt Frank did an excellent job in balancing our desire for quality work, but still understanding that this was a rental property, not our own home.
The floors look incredible. The stairs are a real treat. Rental properties take a beating and we were planning to recarpet the whole house. When Frank came out to measure, he discovered hardwood flooring under the carpet upstairs. Bingo!! We will not have to recarpet again!! The price was very reasonable and I am thrilled that he discoverd the hidden jem of hardwood!
Once again, we could not be more pleased. It was another perfect job by AMS!
Their price was very reasonable. They weren't the lowest but the workmanship was excellent. They cleaned up well after themselves and finished both projects on time. I was very pleased with them overall. I appreciated the constant contact from AMS - they would give me daily updates in the morning as far as what will be done that day, and each day, those tasks were completed. I felt informed every step of the way.

I could not be happier. I have been working with Frank since 2009. Every job has exceeded my expectations. This one was no different. From beginning to end, Frank has proved once again his guys are truly the best. The work is exceptional, pricing is competitive, workers are pleasant and professional and most of all trustworthy. At the start of the project, Frank recommended for me to consider re-doing the stair rails. He was right on the money! The wood rails and iron balusters are the highlight of the house. It was not in the original plan, but glad I decided to take the recommendation. They are beautiful (thanks Brian). I could not be more pleased with the outcome. I also had hardwoods installed on the main level. It was a little concerned there would be a variation in color/install since I all ready had hardwoods in the kitchen. Not the case at all. The floors, all the stairs (with white risers) and the 2 landings are absolutely beautiful. Add in the newly installed sconces and new light fixtures - amazing.
I also had several items on the honey do list and each item was checked off one by one. Honestly, I could not be happier. i am definitely one of those peeps who know what they like and Frank made it happen. I would gladly recommend AMS Home Remodeling to anyone who asks. Hats off to Noe', Renzo and their crews. Everyone is top notch. If I could give a higher rating, I would.
Frank - THANK YOU! I am looking forward to my next project. I'll be giving you a buzz next year to get back on the books.

What a great experience! AMS Home Remodeling did a fabulous job on our kitchen and hallway. Frank and his crew installed ceramic tile, kitchen cabinets and countertops, and hardwood flooring. We were delighted! The crews were professional and reliable. They left the job site immaculate every evening. Frank was always available when we had questions or wanted to discuss upgrades. I found their price to be most competitive and we were thrilled with the quality and attention to detail. I think that was my favorite part-the attention to detail and the desire to have the project turn out the way that WE wanted it to.
AMS's web site says that their goal is to engage their customers in the process of turning dreams into reality. That is a great summary. While I was dreading having my living space all torn up and unavailable, it did not turn out to be a bad thing at all--it was exciting! His craftsmen seemed as enthusiastic about the changes and transformations as we were. It truly was like watching our dreams come true right before our eyes.
If you want a contractor to treat you like the most important customer they have, then chose AMS Home Remodeling. You won't be disappointed in the quality, price, scheduling, reliablity, and attention to customer satisfaction.
I cannot wait to begin our next project (master bathroom..yay!!), for which we will most certainly use AMS. I have referred them to two neighbors who fell in love with our "new house", and witnessed the ease with which it was done.
Full A++ on all catagories. Way to go Frank and the guys! Can't wait to have you back.
