The good: Based on how friendly and knowledgeable Brian was, we hired Andre Tuckpointing and Brickwork in 2018 to spot-point some problem areas, grind out and tuckpoint the windowsills and chimney, which were all successful. The bad: Brian's team was not as experienced as he is, and the work other than that listed above has not held up. We had to call them to come back multiple times since they almost left our home without spot-pointing a substantial crack, as well as other issues (read on). Moreover, while it was easy to communicate with the office, the follow-through was poor. Particularly, I would not recommend them for: any of the other work we paid for (spot pointing of the steps and porch, and caulking/tuckpointing the foundation). Off the bat, they told us the foundation work was a gamble, so I should have understood that as "this will not work" instead of being optimistic and paying for it. Some of this work has not held up over time (i.e. not even 2 years), while the work on the steps harmed their integrity, resulting in the need for a new handrail and redoing the bottom step. After pestering the office and Brian for a number of months and buying a new railing, Brian came out, but the work on the bottom step was inferior and is already crumbling (he told us he would only come out once to address this issue). He did not charge us to come out to work on the steps after the initial issues, but now we have to hire someone else to fix the poor work that was done. While I would like to have confidence that they would come out and repair their work, I do not expect that would happen since Brian specifically stated that he would not. Overall: If you are looking to have your brickwork tuckpointed, and don't mind it being a little sloppy, hire them. If you are looking to have your steps, porch, or foundation tuckpointed or repaired, do not hire them.

The worst experience of my life. I had to take them to court and sue them. They were found guilty!!!!! I was awarded $900.00 in damages in which they NEVER paid.Court documents were filed and available. They also have hundreds of thousands dollars in OSHA fines which are not paid! This company should NOT be allowed to do business period! Please protect everyone here on Angie's list and anyone else from this scam and fraudulent company. This took place a few years back went Angie's list was NOT fee to join that is why I didn't file this review and complaint earlier.

Here's my experience with Andre. They tuckpointed my house because I
had interior water damage on my walls. That part seemed to go ok. I
was instructed to wait 6 months to repair the interior walls to allow
them to fully dry out. I waited 14 months before having the walls
repaired. After re-plastering and repainting the walls, the water
damage returned after further rain. This is where things go downhill.
I contacted Andre to come back out to re-examine what the problem may
be. They came back out and collectively we looked at the inside walls
but a he didn't have a ladder to get back up on the roof to take a look.
He stated he would come back the following day to inspect and asked if
I required being there to which I said no. He had my permission to
climb up and take a look. From this point on I have never heard
anything from them. I patiently waited 4 weeks before calling the
office. June was a record rainfall month....I live here, I experienced
it too. When I called I was told this (and I quote) "You know there's
been a lot of rain in the area and it's difficult to get up on a roof
and inspect when it's raining as much as it has". This doesn't explain
why I haven't been contacted in over a month. I was then told "there's a
note on his desk to call you so hang tight and I'm certain he will get
with you soon". That was 3 1/2 months ago. I have chosen not call them
out of principle and I will be seeking out another opinion from Galati
and Sons. I'd like to point out that I wasn't pointing a finger at them
demanding they make retribution for the persistent problem. I let them
know that if there's a problem above and beyond the original work, I
would gladly pay them to have it resolved. All I need is to have my
leaking walls fixed....that's it.
"Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry your experience did not meet your expectations. it seems you have roof issues that we can't repair. We did butter down the coping tiles, tuck-point & do what we said we would do, unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the problem. Due to our office being under staffed for the demand we have seen, we haven't been able to be on top of customer service to the level we expect for ourselves. We've been actively addressing this so current and future customers can hold us to the standard that we pride ourselves on. We can & will do better. For any member reading this review and response, please take a moment to see our other reviews to get an idea of the quality and service you can expect when you choose Andre's Tuck-pointing for your project"

After and extremely wet and rainy first half of the summer, Andre got behind schedule by no fault of their own.
They did finally show up about the first of September. The contract called for full tuck pointing of the house, chimneys, foundation and re-stacking a problem area above one window.. This is an extremely messy job to perform. That said, the crew cleaned up rather well considering the scope and mess of the job. They were very polite and very nice. It took about 3.5 weeks to complete the entire job from the start of grinding mortar all the way through to the wash and water proofing. They crew foreman tuck pointed in a few "sample" colors so we could see and choose what mortar color looked best with our color brick.
Not only did they fully fulfill what the contract called for, but went above and beyond. They also tuck pointed the 2 retaining walls we have on the west side (side street, we live on a corner) of the house to make the walls appear "seamless" with the foundation. They also re-stacked another problem area above a different window and "wet brushed" the the concrete slabs that line the rest of the wall in the backyard so it had a seamless color match. They did not charge us extra for this. The owner explained to me "It's not about the money".
We live in a circa 1880's Victorian historic home on a well known street in St. Louis. Their quality of work can be seen by every car driving East. Old historic homes such as our require a special mortar blend because of the density of the bricks used back then. The quikcrete stuff you buy at Home Depot or Lowes is simply too hard and will damage these old bricks. Andre blended all the mortar used on site correctly, and also secured the proper permits needed for historic homes and neighborhoods. My only gripe is they did not call a day or two ahead of time to let me know their start date. But since they did such a great job, it's not really a big deal. If masonry work is ever needed again, They will be the only company I'll call.
Originally tried MIRELLI but their work deteriorated within a year. They claimed that their mortar deteriorated due to salt from having the drive shoveled. Didn't agree as this porch was over 20 years old and first time had to have work done. Contacted ANDRE and they did excellent job with 5 year guarantee. Had a few mortar separations a year later and they came right out and repaired. Also put on a clear sealer that did not show on the hard pavers. MIRELLI used a sealer that destroyed the porch appearance and had to have removed. Would strongly recommend ANDRE TUCKPOINTING.
I can't praise this company enough! We are selling our older home, and needed to have the brickwork on 2 chimney flus addressed (they were crumbling) prior to a new roof being installed. The company spoke with the roofer, and understand the timing issue, had our work done in a week. They did a really, really nice job -- we are so pleased. Fully cleaned up dirt, etc. on our driveway and our neighbor's driveway prior to leaving.
It was very poor. They did not do what they promised to do. We had them out and they did about a days worth of work but they only finished about half of the bricks. So I had them out again and talked to the guy on sight for the job and he said that they had done it right but you could clearly see that it was a terrible job. We called the manager out, he examined it and he said I was right, they did a terrible job and needed to redo it. They redid it but when I inspected the work, I found a few more bricks that were broken and told them about those and they fixed those. He did eventually get everything done to my satisfaction but it was a long painful process of me inspecting their work for a couple of times. I would definitely not recommend them. I basically had to haggle for it instead of getting it done right the first time.

EDIT: Andre's has said it wasn't them, but it was. Here is an image of the check we wrote them, and they cashed: [URL removed]

Crew showed up on time each day and went right to work. Cleaned up each day before they left. They were great to work with and delivered what they promised. This was a small job but they treated it as if it were the only job they had.

It is to my shame that I took so long to write this review. I've ben too busy enjoying the patio (maybe not so much during current season).

Good job at a fair price. They are reputable and will stand by their work. When I noticed there was still some leakage/water issues from the porch, the owner came back out himself to check it out. They then did additional brickwork and put additional waterproofing, free of charge.

Brian came to our home to provide an estimate. During that visit he educated us on the reasons for some of the deterioration in the brick due to moisture. We accepted the estimate. When the work was scheduled, a crew of three guys came out. Jasmine was the crew supervisor. He was very personable and informative. One the first day they ground out the mortar. Quite a dirty dusty job. They did a great job of cleaning up the dust and debris.
They looked hard to find matching brick. One pillar needed a lot of work. The top quarter was rebuilt. On the second day they replaced all the mortar and repaired the fireplace.
The stone caps were manufactured within a month and placed on the pillars in an afternoon. Two of the pillars had lights that had to be removed and reset. The last step was to put an acid wash to finish the job. This took another couple of hours.
Everything looks great. Very glad they suggested the stone caps as this gives everything a finished look. Although not the cheapest, they are true artisans.
It went really well. The project manage/sales person was friendly and knowledgeable. The crew was very courteous. I appreciated that they came back out to do touch ups after the weather changed. I was really pleased with the project.

They were very good. Two people came out to perform the work and it took about two to three days. They have a good history, and did a good presentation. He seemed knowledgeable about his work. I would tell a friend or family member that they will be on time will stick to their bid, they do a good explanation about their work and what materials they will use. They do a good job cleaning up.

My interaction with Andre's Tuckpointing was super! During the bid process, Denise and Brian provided me very detailed information and Brian knew exactly what needed to be completed to bring my front porch back to life. Everything went very smooth and the service and work performed was great. I would definitely recommend Andre's for your tuckpointing and brick work.
