Roof was leaking again less than a year under warranty and it was supposedly repaired.---Had all the damage done to the ceilings and sheet rock replaced and repainted and then it leaked again--ruining some of the work that was done (still under warranty but what good is that as ceilings are damaged again) Contacted multiple times--failed to show up for an appointment- and then just quit answering my messages--IF STILL IN BUSINESS I WOULD NEVER RECCOMMEND THIS MAN TO ANYONE. All I was asking for was to have the job completed correctly and some response for reconciliation and-- NOTHING.. Attacked pictures sent and just wanted repaired and the leak stopped--I had AMERICAN HOME CONTRACTORS COME OUT AND THEY DID A 'PHENOMINAL" JOB--went in the attic--took great pictures of attic and roof and roof vents and sealed the problem area and additional work for $149.00 a AAA operation if you need a roof job done

The work was done in a reasonable amount of time with one or two follow up visits for touch up work. The price was good and the finished work looked very nice. Apex provided a 10 year warranty on workmanship in addition to lifetime manufacturers warranty on the shingles. However starting in May 2016 shingles started falling off the front on the house. The owner, Kirk, made one visit to fix the fallen shingles after a few emails and calls. He did no show on date promised and only fixed one of the two that had fallen. Over the next few months more shingles have fallen off and he has been unresponsive. After calls, emails, and text messages he has not shown as he committed. At this point I could not offer a higher grade since I have no confidence that the warranty on the roof is any good.

The work needs to be repaired and its only been a little over a year. I've been complaining to him about this since November. I have been calling and emailing him. I can never get a return call and he occasionally emails me. He says he's been out there to look at the roof and has yet to tell me how many slates that have fallen off were his. He told me he wants an additional $2000.00 for the repair without telling me what the issue is. I would like a conversation with him to understand the process.

Job was delayed a few times due to weather and the domino effect that had on other jobs scheduled around the same time as ours. They started the job on a Friday morning but the crew were quickly called off to finish up another job and were supposed to return. I suppose that other job took longer than anticipated so they informed us they would pick up their tarps and return on Monday to actually do the job. When they returned on Monday they did the entire job in one day, which is impressive since the days are getting short this time of year. Throughout the process Kurt was responsive, answered the phone when I called and was good at messaging through Angie's List. The only quality issue I noticed was one piece of siding displaced near a short roof section above a bump out window. The way they did the flashing left a small portion of that siding displaced. Also, their invoice could have been more detailed to document that they actually did all the things they said they would do in the Angie's List Big Deal coupon. Clean up was mostly good, too. I haven't found any nails in the yard, just a few tiny scraps of roofing material that didn't make it into the dumpster.

Update: On February 20, 2015, approximately 3 months after the roofing job, we found a piece of siding had become detached. The siding had clearly become detached due to improper trimming and/or reattaching of the siding when they replaced the roof flashing. A couple other pieces of siding adjacent to the roof above the 2nd story rear bump out section were also loose and poorly fitting for the same reason (I noticed that issue the day they did the roof job and I was planning to fix that section of siding myself in the Spring time when the weather improved).

To address the siding issue I called Kirk numerous times on the phone and he never answered my phone calls nor did he respond to any of my telephone messages. I tried reaching him via Angie's List message and was ignored. I finally was able to reach him through the "contact us" form on his website and he replied via e-mail and agreed to send someone out to look at it the next day. Because this is now a rental property, I had to coordinate the inspection and repair with my tenants but Kirk never confirmed the time with me. The repairman showed up without an understanding of the work to be performed and then asked our tenants for permission to use their land line telephone to call me, the homeowner. I explained my concerns over the phone and the repairman who, speaking in very broken English that was difficult to understand, said he could do the repair but it would cost $275. I authorized him to perform the repairs but I also told him I would be speaking to Kirk because I believed this was directly related to the roofing job that was just performed and Apex provided a 10 year workmanship warranty and I felt this should have been covered under that warranty.

I live 10-15 minutes away from the rental property and I immediately left my house to go to there to speak with the repairman and ensure the work was performed satisfactorily. By the time I arrived the repairman had already left. The repairman reattached the 24" long piece of siding that had come loose due to the seam not being properly secured when they replaced the roof flashing. However, he totally ignored the other pieces of loose siding that were improperly fitting above the small bump out roof section for the same reason. Then I received a $275 Paypal invoice from Kirk. Nice. Apex should have done it right the first time but hey, mistakes happen. The 10 year workmanship warranty should have covered the subsequent minor repair but Kirk refused to engage with me in meaningful dialog to discuss the matter. So I declined the invoice and refused to pay. It is indecent to charge customers a second time for poor workmanship when it should be covered under the warranty.

They were prompt and very affordable. Conducted a tune-up of my existing roof, which the home inspector pointed out were missing a few shingles. Made the sale of my home that much easier, with Apex making sure the roof was ready to go for another 5+ years.
The roof leak was in our upstairs bathroom and the water was coming through the vent fan.
August was not our only visit from Apex, they came out a few times in 2014. But that was only after we called and left voicemails with them about 6x each time. We were trying to get that bathroom repainted and every time we had a problem, Apex would take forever to getting around to coming out.
Fast forward to August when a team member came out and tried another repair. We paid $275.00 and were told that if this didn't resolve the issue they would need to come out and pull off shingles and more to a**** the issue to the tune of $1,500. So after another hard rain and yet another leak in the ceiling, we finally got fed up and called a roofing specialist. It was shocking how fast that firm responded to my request, charged me a reasonable fee and fixed the problem all within 24 hours after initial contact. I also got a infrared camera report showing me where we needed insulation not only in the bathroom but also throughout the upstairs floor. I was surprised that the insulation wasn't up to snuff because when we moved into the house the inspector said it was all in proper shape. Keep that in mind as you read on . . .
The roof leak was fixed and we were thrilled. But we found out from the specialist team that our roofer had apparently used SIDING and SIDING GLUE to repair the job and not shingles. Seriously. And they didn't know how to properly seal the leak with the adhesive that were told that was common to use. I was horrified.
Fast forward to the insulation team coming through - they noticed that 1) the insulation looked like it had been tossed around a lot and in the end my husband lugged it all out so we could start fresh. On the insulation install day I was shown by a the insulation team the mess that had been left by our roofer in one of the eves - a mess of shingles and other debris. They cleaned it up without a thought and didn't charge me for it.
We instantly called Apex and left a voicemail to request our money back from Apex for the $275.00 we paid in the most recent repair. Personally I think we are owed way more that back for all of the bad repairs over the last year, but I am willing to be reasonable. Sadly we never heard one word back.
My opinion is that if you want a solid roofer that stands beyond you well beyond the initial roof job, go elsewhere. They lost their biggest fan and customer.

Response from Apex Roofing Contractors Inc
"We are sorry to see this review. We have worked with the [member name removed]'s for years Replacing their roof and every sheet of plywood on the roof at their request, cleaning their roof two times, and performing routine maintenance over the years. Apex Roofing warrants all workmanship when we replace roof for 10 years as we did with the [member name removed]'s roof which was replaced in 2002. We met and exceeded our warranty period. We came out for a service call after the homeowner had attempted his own without success. Based on this review was apparently unsuccessful in our attempt to repair it and wish there could have been a better outcome/resolution."

Kirk came out the next day, right on time. He proceeded to go up on the roof to take a look. Approximately 5 minutes later he came down with the best news possible. My roof is fine and does NOT need to be replaced. In fact he told me I probably have another 5 to 10 years before I will need to worry. He did point out a section of gutter that was pulling away from the house that would eventually need to be repaired. He also recommended that I get my gutters cleaned. Thinking that I was looking at the expense of a new roof, I gladly paid Kirk a small fee to have a crew come out the following day and inspect and secure all my gutters as well as clean them out. Kirk could have very easily sold me a new roof and I would have been none the wiser. I can't emphasize how much it meant to me that he was honest enough not to go that route. I will definitely call Apex back when it is time for a new roof but in the meantime, I am happy just passing along Apex and Kirk's name to everyone I know that is looking for a roofer.
The service went fine. I paid an additional fee to replace some rotten wood. I was not home while they did the service. They did leave a bit of a mess behind but it was not too bad. They completed the job in about a day and a half. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

They repaired some leaks in the roof. They were excellent. They went up on the roof and took photos, brought them back to me and showed me what the issues were. They gave me a time and they showed up on time. They also gave me a heads up 30 minutes in advance. I was happy with the work and gave them a tip.

Overall, Apex was responsive and professional, walking me through what was going to be replaced and how they were going to do it. They largely showed up when promised, and even came out to do some patching before we began with a full-on roof replacement. The roofing material and job appear as if it'll last for some time to come, as the previous roof was beyond repair and already caused leaks into the house. My only complaint, if any, was that Apex and the HVAC contractor didn't get along, causing some needless friction for the concurrent HVAC repair. In the end, however, everything turned out OK on that front.
Overall it was a great experience. Despite difficulties with my place being 4 stories and needing extra tall ladders and special equipment, Kirk and Apex did an amazing job in only 1.5 days. Because of some of these issues, the timing was moved back several times. Kirk and Apex even provided free gutter repair and roof tuneups to my immediate neighbors who were most effected by the replacement.
I was charged exactly what I was quoted, which was significantly lower then other estimates. I would certainly refer their services to others and believe that this experience will improve the next 4 story townhouse repair in my neighborhood.
He was not very responsive when it came to scheduling and I had a hard time reaching him. When the appointment was made, he did arrive on time. He came to do the roofing inspection He completed some minor caulking. He said there were some shingles missing and I was going to have him complete the repair. He said that he would come back out when he had shingles with him to complete the job. However, he never showed or followed up with me. I am very dissatisfied that he never came back the complete the repairs.
Response from Apex Roofing Contractors Inc
"Dear [Member name removed], We did in fact come back and replace the shingles so that would match the rest of the roof. If I recall, your gutter was hanging down also and we came back and fixed that also We would like to come out to inspect our work and make sure it is done to your satisfaction. Please call my cell phone at 703-930-2159 so that we can resolve this to your satisfaction."

I contacted Apex Roofing to ask for repairs to a roof that were highlighted during a buyer's inspection prior to the sale of a house. Apex repaired it on time at a fair price. It was a little difficult to get hold of them but I later found out that they were catching up with a back-log of jobs after some bad weather delays. Very professional and honest. I would use them again.
Our real estate agent contacted Apex on our behalf as we were considering the purchase of a townhouse but found that the roof needed replacement. Apex was on a short deadline as we had to close in less than 7 days. Apex came out and redid our roof and exceeded our expectations not only in quality but in service and cost too. Every time we drive by our townhouse we can't believe how great our roof looks compared to our neighbors! Apex met all of our HOA requirements and for that we thank them as the purchase of our townhouse was able to be completed on time due to Apex's due diligence. We want to add that Apex did use fire retardant plywood, added two twirly birds, a ridge vent, repainted our flashes, cleaned up thoroughly, and put on 25 year rated shingles.

I needed to replace my roof and Kirk and team provided excellent service. They showed up on time and explained exactly what materials they were going to use, and why these were the best types of materials.
I liked that Kirk texted me with updates and used PayPal. Kirk and his team were responsive and courteous. A few weeks after the roof was replaced I got a small leak and Kirk and team immediately came back out to figure out what the issues was. They realized it was a flashing issue and fixed it free of charge.
