They were okay. For what I paid, it was not bad. But I wouldn't hire them again. It was quite a while after the deal was purchased before they came out. They were very nice about it because it was getting close to expiring, but it hadn't expired. I remember that I left them voice mail and called them. I did have a little bit of a trouble getting hold of them and I thought, "It's going to expire and I can't get hold of them." But I got hold of them just before it expired. They were like, "No, no. It's fine. Let's schedule it and we'll honor the price because we scheduled it." The guy was very polite. He did a pretty good job. He was a nice guy and personable. The price was very reasonable.

He failed to do a compelete tiling job - he left a huge gap in between the commode and the floor. He also used a glue to glue the tiles down, and he slopped some onto the baseboards. He attempted to patch another place in our den, but he didn't sand down and paint it. He failed to complete every aspect of the job. The part that he did complete, we had to have them replace a few tiles. They didn't come on time, and they left early on that first day. They also tried to tell me that they worked longer than they said they did, and tried to charge me for it. Then, he tried to make us pay for a night's stay in a motel. They took longer breaks than normal - and more breaks than allowed. We were very accomodating and they abused our trust. I cannot believe the amount of things that weren't done! I've tried calling him back about getting the work done and he never returned my calls. My husband wrote a professional letter to him, and the owner finally returned our call. He conviced us that he would have someone back in June but we never saw or heard from them again.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. It did not turn out well. He did a good job, but did get done nearly what I thought he was going to get done. I thought he was going to manage to paint the woodwork in one room but he got a bookcase painted; that was it. He was very slow and did not have the materials he needed when he got here. He was a very nice young man but he was not as prepared as I thought he would be and I did not want him to do anything else. There were no additional charges. The bookcase painting looked great.

He did a good job matching the colors, but was not able to finish the work in the 8 hours allotted. I liked that they were willing to split the time into two days for us. The gentleman was very pleasant and agreeable to work with.

They never contacted us to check out the scope of what the project was. I was the one that initiated everything. The gentleman that was scheduled to come on a certain day at a certain time didn't show up for 4 days in a row when he was supposed to. I wanted some crown molding that I wanted done. After 4 days he didn't have any of the tools he needed to do the work and kept having to leave and come back. We had out of town company that was supposed to come in town that had to completely change their plans because we couldn't get this work done. After he did this 8 hours of work, I now have about 4 feet of crown molding hung in my living room and that's it. I was on the phone with the boss the entire time having to ask where the gentleman was and when he would be here. When he was here, he talked nonstop about his personal issues. It was very unprofessional. The entire process was so stressful that it made my husband physically sick. He had to have a MRI and be on medical care after for tension headaches that lasted for three weeks from the stress of the experience.

We got a call and were told with very short notice that they would be here at Monday at 4pm to plan their time. My fiancé, Doug, took off work to be there. They did call, but made it sound like they were almost there. It was 7:00 PM before they arrived. They planned the job that evening. I noted there has been termite activity in the past and asked they inspect the integrity of the walls before patching any cracks. They planned how they would use their time and told us that they would be at the house tomorrow at 6:00 AM (It was already 9:00 PM)! Doug had to call in to work at 9:30 PM to let his boss know he had contractors coming in the morning. We didn’t even have materials.

We had to be ready at the time they said they would be here and they were late, about 20 minutes. They kept saying that they would work through lunch to make up for it. They then found ways to take off work early, usually starting to pack everything up at 2:00 PM and leaving between 3:30 and 4:00 PM, and there was no way the hours were going to add up to the 40 hours we had paid for.

At the very end of day two, after having removed the sheetrock in my bedroom to inspect the supporting structure of the wall, they told us they found termite activity. They stopped work, then told us that they were not going to do any more unless we start paying them hourly. Basically they had decided that after 2 days we had used up our “FULL WEEK of General Contracting” ($1500.00). They had an entire wall off in my bedroom and told me they weren’t going to do any more for us unless we agree to pay them more. We decided not to use them further. Doug, spent days cleaning up after them.

They did a lot of work. They put up some drywall, laid tile, rebuilt some shelving mungs other things. They were very nice. They worked very hard and tried to accommodate as many things as they could. I asked them to do a lot and they tried to fit it all in. I told them I'd rather them do the work in the alloted time and not spend it cleaning up, so I cleaned up after them.

Spoke to Ray and he was nice enough to honor the Groupon even though the date was going to expire before we could get the work done, however, he (or someone) was to call and set an appointment and never did. I called and left 2 or 3 messages with no response, and even drove to the business to make sure they were still in business. After that, a man did call to set an appointment. However, on the date he had to change it because of other jobs the company had him on. This happened twice.
When he did arrive, we outlined the job and added the ceiling to be painted knowing this might cut down on work completed.
He was a nice young man, however (again) in 8 hours all that was completed was the ceiling (and it needs touching up) and a very light coat of primer.
I painted the room the next day in 2.5 hours!
I just thought professional painters could complete one room in 8 hours.
I hired API Construction/Nationwide Restoration based on their claim to being "dedicated to providing the finest craftsmanship". This is a direct quote from the company's blurb that accompanied the Handyman Deal that was on Angie's List. To use the word craftsmanship and API Construction in the same sentence is a travesty. Their work is terrible and service even worse.
On Sept. 12, the "handyman" arrived to replace the paneling surrounding my bathtub. These were the results of the first day's work:
one panel fell off, the floor, tub and shower were covered with adhesive, the hole for the tub spout was about half and inch bigger than the spout itself, the borders did not match, the boards were cut crooked. Somehow the "handyman" created an 8 inch hole in my wall and stripped off a 2 ft. section of paint in an area that he wasn't even working on. When I called him that evening to ask him why he hadn't told me about the hole, he said he forgot! The work was not finished and the handyman had said he would return on Saturday to caulk. I told him not to come back.
I then called the owner of the company, Raymond Ontiveros, to tell him what had happened. He apologized and said to call him the following Monday and he would schedule someone else to correct and finish the job. As in the other reports about this company, I called and called, left phone messages and emails once or twice a day for a week or more before I ever heard back from Raymond. I couldn't use my shower and wanted to get the job done. Finally, almost 2 weeks after the start date, Raymond sent out handyman #2. This handyman was shocked by the poor work done by the first guy. He installed the fallen-off panel securely to the wall. Unfortuneately, in addition to the adhesive, he had hammered 8 nails into it to keep it in place. On the back of the panel is a label from the manufacturer telling the installer NOT to use nails because it will destroy the waterproof surface of the paneling. He did replace the 8 inch section of wall board the first guy had knocked out. Handyman #2 said he would come back on Tuesday (Sept. 25) to finish. I called him Tuesday AM to confirm and he said he would come by later in the afternoon. He never arrived and never called.
So I called Raymond, the owner, again, over and over, and sent emails. No response. On Sept. 29, I emailed a detailed letter describing the damages and stating that I wanted my money back for the incomplete work and the cost of the materials. By this time I had spent about $400. The cost breaks down this way: $99 for the original special of 4 hours of handyman service, an additional $165 for the afternoon of the first days work and about $135 for the panels, adhesive, caulk, etc. I told him that if I did not hear from him by 5:00 on Tues, Oct. 2, I would file a Complaint Report on Angie's list. At 5 PM Raymond called and rambled and whined on and on about how these workers were unreliable and costing him money and how he was in business to make money. He said he would make things right but needed until Friday to see about the money. You can probably guess the rest. I have not heard from him and don't expect to. My bathroom is in worse shape than it was before (or has ever been). I can't afford to hire someone else to take apart the mess he made and start again. I can't use my shower. I want to get reimbursed for this fiasco and to prevent this company from deceiving, ignoring and ripping off any more people.
I hired API Construction/Nationwide Restoration based on their claim to being "dedicated to providing the finest craftsmanship". This is a direct quote from the company's blurb that accompanied the offer for the Handyman Special. To use the word craftsmanship and API in the same sentence is a travesty!
.
Response from API CONSTRUCTION/NATIONWIDE RESTORATION
"We regret that our efforts to resolve this issue with our customer has come to this. API has made many attempts to resolve this issue with this complaint. We have offered to send in another associate to fix any mistakes and finish the job to the standards our company promised. To our dismay she will not work with us in this manner. We would love the opportunity to complete the job beyond satisfactory for the member. We promise API can and will do the job if she will cooperate with us."

My privacy fence was waving all over the place. Terry came out on
Sunday morning (to be there by 10:00 am he arrived around 9:30 am) and
worked non-stop until around 1:30 pm and took part of the fence down,
moved the posts (he needed a 2x4 which I did not have so he had to go
pick one up which cost me around $11.00 for gas and the 2x4) and
straightened out the fence.
Excellent job
First of all, it took FOREVER to ever get them out here in the first place. I started calling on 4/19/12, never heard back for several weeks. Finally heard back and they scheduled for 5/14-15/12. Then they called on 5/10/12 and rescheduled to 6/11/12. 6/11/12 came and went and NOBODY ever showed up. I called back again. They called back 6/18/12 and said somebody would be out on 6./20/12. Nobody showed up again. I then left a very frustrated message and they called and said they had had trouble with some of their workers being sick, etc., and scheduled me for 8/28/12 "for sure". Then they called the weekend before that and asked if they could come 8/21/12, which I agreed to. When the workers FINALLY arrived and I showed them the damage to be repaired, the main guy immediately said he didn't think it would be 40 hours of work, and he would let his boss know to get with me to work out the remainder. They started work at 8:00 am. I was working in my office room while they were doing the repair work, and they knew that because they came in a couple of times and asked me questions. Around 1:00 pm I noticed I didn't hear anything anymore, and I found out that they had just simply left. They never came and said they were done, they never walked me around their repairs to see if I approved, nothing, they just left without a solitary word. So that was two people for 5 hours (10 hours total). All they did was tape over the cracks in the wall and the nail pops. In the guest bedroom they had to blow some popcorn on the ceiling and it was a horrible job, it looked ridiculously bad. Luckily I had the main guy's cell number from when he had called to come out early, so I got hold of him and told him they needed to come back out and explain to me what they did and fix the ceiling in the guest bedroom. So they came back the next morning and reblowed the ceiling and explained that the taping was all they needed to do, but I should be able to work out something to use the rest of the hours. The two men were there for approximately 1 more hour apiece, so that is 12 hours work total out of 40 they did. I have since called API Construction back two times to find out what they intend to do to either refund the 70% they didn't do, or schedule more work, but no one has bothered to call back. At this point I feel like they have my money and have ZERO incentive to call me back, and I was basically RIPPED OFF!!! There is a lot of other work I can have them do for the remaining 28 hours, but I doubt I will ever hear from them again. ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS COMPANY PLEASE THINK TWICE!!!!!!!!! To say I am displeased is a complete understatement.
The two men who did the work came in from Oklahoma to the DFW area and stayed in an area motel to do the work. They arrived late almost every day. Worked inefficiently, and left early most days.
Their quality was poor. Plumbing had to be totally redone by a licensed plumber. Sink leaked immediately. Bathroom had to be professionally repainted after they left. Floor had to be professionally cleaned and regrouted in many areas after they left.
The work took far longer than we were told to expect (or one could reasonably expect). There was an understandable interruption of more than a week when the father of one of the crew members died (they cannot be faulted for that, obviously, but work was still excessively long).
The only good thing I can say is that the two men who worked on the job were very nice guys with a good attitude. That was the only salvation.
Nothing went as quoted/estimated. I had a very specific list of materials needed-wood measurements they gave me was incorrect. And then they over estimated amount needed. So while I can return SOME of it, they already painted more wood then was used. They even missed painting 1 side of wood trim.
From the original walk-though, they only completed half of the job. I believe that is because I used the Angie coupon.
I was also told they would return (at full cost to me) the next day. They did not return or call until several days later. I told them I was finding someone else to finish the work.

I contacted the person identified in the add as the service provider by leaving a message on the answering machine which answers all calls to the company as far as I can determine & waiting aproximately 12 hours before being called back (even though the answering machine message indicated that a team was on duty 24/7 & I should expect a rapid response to my message). When finally speaking to Mr. Ortiveros, who ID'd himself as the owner of the company I told him about my having purchased the "Big Deal" painting package and was calling to schedule an appointmen with him to initiat the project. He stated that he had alot of work going on & it would take awhile to get started with mine. He got the address of my property and said he would try to go by there and check it out & asked me to call him on Thursday or Friday of the next week to discuss scheduling. I called the contact # on Friday of the following week & again left a message. I didn't hear back from anyone untill mid week the following week when a man ID'ing himself as a" crew chief" called and said that he had looked at my house and that he could begin the project if I could pay an additional $950. I told him that the deal as advertised should be more than adequate to paint my house & separate garage (which was a total of no more than 1250 square feet of floor space). He said he would have to discuss this with the owner of the company. I then sent a copy of the original add for the" big deal" to the owner by email & asked him to contact me with an answer to the question of whether or not he could do the paint job according to the specifications in the add. He contacted me by telephone several days later stating that he could do the job as described in the add with no additional cost & I agreed to scheduling prep work on my house to begin the morning of June 11, 2012. I went to the house that morning expecting to meet the "Team" who was to start the prep work. No one showed up , so after waiting from 8:30 am until 11:00 am for someone to arrive I called the company contact # , got the usual answering machine announcement, left an urgent message requesting a call back asap & explanation as to why the prep work did not begin as scheduled. later that afternoon I got a call from a woman who said she was the office manager for API Construction. She stated that she was unaware of the work being scheduled to begin at my house that morning , but the paint crew had run behind schedule on last week's project and would be finishing that the rest of the current week( 6/11-15/12) & work should begin on my house the first of the following week. Monday of the following week I was at the house @ 9am. Again no show. I call, leave message etc. long story shorter the work on my house finally began the week of June24-30. The actual painting began sometime in early July but occurred only a day or 2 at a time with weeks between painting days & no communication with me about the hiatuses. (except a belated return call after my leaving multiple urgent messages asking what was going on). The prep work of scraping & chipping peeling flaking paint
off before painting was done haphazardly & many large areas were left untouched before painting over the peeling & flaking painted surface. I am goin to scrape those areas myself and touch up the places where the paint coverage is inadequate. As far as repairs go they did reglaze a few windows whic needed it badly & that i doappreciate , however ther were several areas of rotted wood which needed to be removed & replaced which were just painted over. All in all it was a painful & time consuming ordeal and the final product leaves much to be desired.
Overall we were pleased with the quality of work and the value received. Rated them a little lower in the responsiveness area as it took a number of calls to set up the appointment and try to get them to return calls. However, I think they were a little overwhelmed by the response they received as the work was done under a groupon type special promotion that Angies list offered.

We had some drywall repair work that needed to be done before we could paint so I thought I'd take advantage of their "coupon" to see if their service was worthy of further work. Needless to say, it wasn't. I was impressed that once I called, they were able to get me scheduled in very quickly. The 2 man crew showed up on time and I showed them the work I needed done. This is where the service failed. The lead contractor's cell phone rang constantly. Apparently there was some confusion from the home office about the services I had purchased and when I provided the details, the lead contractor explained that since I had purchased 8 man hours and they sent out a team of two, that they wouldn't be working all day. Fine, completely understand. I guess the big rub came when they showed up without any of what I would consider basic consumables for a project like this. I would have been more than happy to purchase these materials before hand had they let me know this. Or I would have paid them for what they used provided they didn't try to game the system by seriously over charging for such basic materials. Needless to say, there was a trip for "supplies" involved and as I live quite a ways outside of Tulsa city limits, there was considerable delay. The lead contractor did tell me they would work extra to make up for this delay. Which they did, somewhat. The biggest thing that blew this wide open for me was the fact that I had to pay for gas for their truck. And they were perfectly at ease over this. So despite the fact that the work was acceptable, I will find another company to come in and finish up and then paint.

I bought the "4 hours of Handyman Services for $99" big deal on Angie's List. I called their number and left a message. They responded within a couple of hours and promised to call me again to schedule the service. But the call never came and I had to call them back again and the same thing happened. I tried again for the third time and this time I got a call from the owner Shelia Rose. She apologized for the previous "dropped balls" and scheduled the service for 8th of June and she also gave me her cell number. On that day no one showed up. I called up her cell number and left a message. She called back immediately and apologized again and mentioned that the employee who was supposed to show up at out house has been fired with immediate effect. She rescheduled the service for 23rd of June. On June 23rd she showed up in person along with the handyman and made sure that all the work was completed.
Overall, after a couple of false starts, everything went well. The owner Shelia did her best and succeeded in damage control.
